HUNTER

The night was supposed to be simple. Just me and my brothers. No distractions. No outsiders.

But Manuel, as usual, had other plans.

"Viper, a few girls will be arriving later," he said with a smirk, as if he had just announced the arrival of appetizers instead of a group of women.

I shot him a glare. "Why would you do that?"

He shrugged, like it was obvious. “Because it’s a bachelor party. You know this won’t be complete without women.”

I folded my arms. “We agreed. Just us. No outsiders.”

Manuel groaned. “Come on, Hunter. What’s wrong with you? You used to be fun. Or are you scared of your wife?”

Hector snorted. “Now that would be a sight.”

I let out a small chuckle, shaking my head. “Hunter Steele scared? That's ridiculous! Besides, my Anya trusts me completely.”

Manuel raised a brow. “You sure?”

I nodded, my lips curving into a small smile. “Yeah. She knows I don’t look at other women. Never have. Never will.”

Carlos smirked. “Good for you, Viper.”

HUNTER The moment I ended the call with Mark, I began getting ready to leave while dialing Anya’s number again. Nothing. The call didn’t even ring. Just a dead signal, straight to voicemail. I clenched my jaw and tried again. And again. Still nothing. My chest tightened with worry. This wasn’t right. Anya’s phone was never off. Even when she was angry at me, she wouldn’t turn off her phone. Something was wrong. I tried one more time, gripping my phone so tightly my knuckles turned white. Voicemail. “Calm down, Hunter,” Manuel said, rolling his eyes. “You’re acting like a madman.” I turned off the music entertaining us, and turned to him. “And why the hell shouldn’t I be worried?” He smiled. “Because I played a little game with her.” His words sent a cold rush of irritation down my spine. “What the hell are you talking about?” He leaned back, completely unbothered. “I told Anya that some girls would be coming to the party. She got jealous.” I stared at him,

HUNTER My whole body shook as I held Anya in my arms. I couldn’t breathe. It felt like the air had been ripped from my lungs, like my entire world had shattered into pieces right before my eyes. My chest ached, the pain unbearable, raw, and suffocating. Tears blurred my vision as I cradled her limp body. I pressed my forehead against hers, hoping, praying for any sign of life. But there was nothing. No breath. No movement. Just the crushing silence of death. A strangled sob tore through my throat. "Anya, please…" My voice was barely a whisper, broken, desperate. "Please, baby… don’t leave me." But she didn’t respond. The warmth of her skin was fading fast. Her blood, sticky and thick, smeared my hands, staining them forever. The wound on her neck mocked me. I had failed her. I had let this happen. Then, movement caught my eye. I looked up, my vision still blurred from my tears. The men I had sent to catch the shooter were dragging someone forward. The moment I saw who

ANYA I wept. Inside Hunter's room. The tears wouldn’t stop. My whole body shook as the reality of how close I had come to death hit me like a wave. Hunter was beside me, his strong arms wrapped around me, holding me tight, and assuring me of his undying love for me. His warmth should have comforted me, but the fear inside me was deep. It refused to leave. "I could have lost you," he whispered, his voice filled with emotion. His grip on me tightened as though he was afraid I would disappear. "Because of your stubbornness." I hiccupped between my sobs, guilt twisting in my chest. "I’m sorry," I choked out. "I wasn’t thinking about the danger. I just… I just wanted to make you happy." Hunter pulled back slightly, his eyes burning into mine. "You can’t be reckless again, Anya," he said, his voice gentle. I nodded quickly. "I never thought Bernice or Cross would try something so… insane." A shiver ran through me. "I was just thinking about that outfit… I had planned to w

HUNTER The air buzzed with excitement. The streets leading to Anya’s house were lined with well-wishers, some holding flowers, others clapping as my fleet of cars pulled up in front of her home. The sun bathed everything in a golden glow, making the moment feel surreal. I stayed inside my car, my fingers tapping lightly against my knee as I watched through the tinted glass. Hector, Manuel, and Carlos stepped out first, their matching suits making them look like an elite squad. Then, the front doors of the house opened. Anya stepped out. And just like that, my breath caught. She was stunning. More than stunning. Breathtaking. Her wedding dress was a pure white, delicate lace wrapping around her slender frame, the fabric flowing down like a river of silk. Her veil cascaded over her shoulders, framing her face like something out of a dream. But it was her eyes that held me captive. They sparkled with happiness, with love. With something so pure it made my chest ache.

HUNTER The night was quiet, the house settling into a comfortable stillness. Anya was fast asleep, curled up against me, her breathing soft and even. I brushed a strand of hair away from her face, just watching her. She was mine completely. The thought alone made me feel like the luckiest man in the world. But as much as I wanted to stay wrapped up in this moment, I wasn’t ready for sleep. Not yet. Carefully, I slipped out of bed, making sure not to wake her. I pulled on a shirt and stepped out into the hallway, making my way toward the living room. I could already hear them before I even reached the room...laughter, banter, the unmistakable sound of a bottle being slammed onto the table. I smirked. When I entered, my brothers were sitting around, playing what looked like a ridiculous game of Truth or Dare. "Look who decided to join us," Manuel said, raising a brow. I dropped onto the couch. • Will You Marry Me?   001: Valentine's Day

ANYA Valentine’s Day; The day of lovers, the day I had been waiting for with my heart in my throat and dreams in my eyes. Today was going to be my day. My perfect day. I rushed into the bar, my heart pounding in anticipation. The sight of Cross made my breath catch, as it always did. He was sitting there, looking effortlessly perfect. His hair was slightly messy, his smile casually charming, and his presence magnetic. I had loved him since high school, and even now, in college, that love hadn’t faded. If anything, it had only grown stronger. He was the guy all the girls wanted, yet somehow, he remained single. That was part of his charm...unreachable, mysterious, untouchable. But not to me. I believed I had a chance. I wasn’t supposed to school at Kings college. My parents had wanted me to attend a more prestigious one, but I had whined, begged, and complained until they sent me there.....where Cross was. To me, nothing mattered more than being near him. Yesterday, I had done

ANYA The sound of laughter erupted behind me, sharp and mocking. Cameras flashed, their lenses pointed at me like spotlights, capturing every humiliating second. I clenched my fists, trying to block out the noise. I knew this would happen. I knew Hunter Steele would humiliate me, but I didn’t care. If enduring this proved my love for Cross, it was worth it. I kept reminding myself: By the end of today, I’ll have my first kiss.....from the love of my life. Cross will see how much I love him, and everything will be perfect. But then Hunter’s annoyed expression softened. A chuckle escaped his lips, sending a chill down my spine. Before I could process it, his face turned cold, his eyes narrowing as he stepped closer. My heart raced as he loomed over me, his presence suffocating. “Why is he so close?” I thought, frozen in place. He reached out, his hand catching my chin. His grip was firm but not painful, and his intense gaze seemed to dissect every inch of my face. “Is he going to

ANYA I couldn’t decide what was worse: the fact that Cross wanted nothing to do with me or that Hunter Steele, of all people, had decided I was going to be his wife. My chest tightened as the memory of Hunter’s kiss flashed through my mind. I wiped my lips again, as though I could erase the feeling. "Oh, Cross," I thought miserably. "What can I do to win you back? You were the one who told me to approach Hunter Steele. I only did it for you, but now I’m the one paying the price." My phone felt heavy in my hand as I scrolled to Cross’s number. Desperation gnawed at me. I just needed to explain, to tell him what really happened. Maybe if he listened, he would forgive me. But when I called, the automated voice informed me that my number had been blocked. The rejection hit me like a slap. My heart felt like it was being ripped apart. I still remembered the look on his face before he walked out of the bar....the disgust in his eyes, the finality in his voice. And the stares of e

CROSS I had been in hiding for far too long. Like a hunted animal, I had stayed in the shadows, moving from place to place, knowing that Hunter was searching for me. He wanted me dead. But he wasn’t going to get the chance. Not before I took everything from him...just like he had taken everything from me. I had already lost it all. My family, my reputation, my power. There was nothing left for me to hold on to. Nothing but revenge. I had sent Bernice out of the city, knowing she was too impulsive to be patient. She wanted blood immediately, but I wanted to be smart about this. I wasn’t going to waste my only chance by acting recklessly. Hunter thought he was untouchable. That was about to change. When I saw the news about his wedding ceremony, my lips curled into a dark smile. So he was finally going to marry her publicly. The girl that was meant to be mine. Even though I never wanted Anya, she was still mine to discard, but Hunter took that right from me by marryin

  • Will You Marry Me?   092: Bang

BERNICE I crouched in the darkness, hidden behind a row of bushes outside Anya’s house. My fingers trembled slightly, but not with fear. With anticipation. Tomorrow was supposed to be her big day...the wedding of the year, the moment she would officially become Mrs. Hunter Steele in the eyes of everyone. It could have been me. It should have. And now, there was no way in hell I was going to let that happen. I had lost too much because of her. Because of him. Cross had told me to leave the City, to run far away and stay with a friend of his, while he handled everything. But I couldn’t. I wouldn’t. Yes, I made him believe I had left but how could I not? This wasn’t about Cross anymore. This was personal. I needed to do this myself. My grip tightened around the small pistol in my hand. Anya didn’t deserve this perfect life, this fairytale ending. She deserved to suffer. I stayed still, watching the guard outside her house. He was a big guy, standing with his han

ANYA I could hardly sit still. Excitement bubbled inside me like a shaken soda can about to burst. I was actually doing this. I was actually sneaking into Hunter’s bachelor party. “Mom, I’m going to the party!” I blurted out, unable to hold it in any longer. She looked up from where she was fixing her hair, her eyes twinkling with amusement. “I figured.” I grinned. “I’m so excited!” She chuckled, reaching out to pinch my cheek. “Then go and have all the fun in the world, my dear.” With that, she left the room, humming happily to herself. I turned back to my mirror and took a deep breath. Alright, time to get the outfit. That was when my excitement hit a wall. The bodyguard. Hunter had stationed a guard outside my house...just one this time, but even one was enough to ruin my plans. Ever since Cross tried to kill me, Hunter had been extra careful. Cross and his sister had vanished, and until Hunter found them, he wasn’t taking any chances. I chewed on my bott
