Chapter 456 Why Even Ask?

This was not his usual pleasant smile. His smile made Maia uncomfortable, as she could feel a shiver down her spine even when the room was warm.

Maia frowned and commented, “I wish that you would be able to find your own happiness. I don’t want it to be destroyed because of me.”

“My happiness?” Nigel laughed coldly. “You’re the only one that could make me happy. Don’t you know that I’ve always-”

“Nigel, I’m sure you’ve heard about it, but I’m pregnant.” Maia interrupted him before he could finish his sentence.

“Of course, I’ve heard of it. Your child needs a father, too, right? Cedric is dead, and he is your past. So, why don’t you give me a chance? I’ll love you and your child with everything I have. I promise to treat him like my very own.”

Nigel’s heartfelt confession sounded strange to Maia.

Her brow furrowed further as she was troubled by Nigel's words. Didn’t he already have a girlfriend? Why was he confessing to her as if he were still single?
