Everyone shouted in unison, “Warring couple! Warring couple!”

Maia kept a blank face and maintained her composure. Then she took a microphone from a crew.

“I get to choose my partner, you troublemakers. Nowhere in the rules does it say a mentor can volunteer himself for the role.”

Maia spoke lovingly, as if the participants were her family.
