I sighed, "Yup. The news about them hurting me is spreading, but not a single person believes me. Others prefer to take my stepmother's side over mine," I replied dispiritedly.

"What the heck, Ysabel?" he exclaimed in astonishment.

"Why didn't you tell me sooner? You should have come to me and asked for help. My older brother is a Governor here, and he might be able to assist you with your problem. Why are you letting your stepmother and her children treat you like a servant? Does your father know about this? Can't you see that Ryan is hurting you too?" he asked incredulously.

I couldn't help but laugh bitterly.

"Even if I did complain to you, the truth would still be the same. My father would still choose to believe Teresita and her kids," I said bitterly, causing Chester to fall silent.

He looked at me for a moment before returning his attention to driving. He seemed to be worried about my problem and probably didn't want to engage in a dangerous conversation while driving.

"But they are physically abusing you, Ysabel," he said in a serious tone.

"They could be imprisoned for their actions, especially that damn Ryan. I don't care if your father believes you or not. But your stepmother and your stepsiblings deserve to rot in jail," he said and took a deep breath.

"They should still go to jail and suffer because they hurt you both physically and mentally. They're abusing you. Whether your father believes you or not, you should have come to me immediately. What if they seriously injure you next time?" Chester added, gripping the steering wheel tightly.

The Angeles family despises the mistreatment of individuals. They always consider the welfare of their constituents, and the previous Governor, Sir Vandolf Angeles, and Chester's brother, Governor Eros, continue to do so. The family has contributed significantly to the community, providing free education to underprivileged children, including myself. They have lifted the hopes and dreams of many, which is why I was fortunate enough to receive a scholarship. Despite facing various challenges, I am determined to finish college and work towards a better life.

"Boss, can I ask for a favor?" I inquired.

I refer to Chester as "Boss" at the vet clinic where I work. He is my employer there, and I'm the only one who calls him "Boss." The rest of my colleagues address him as "sir," which makes me unique.

"Yeah, sure. What is it?"

"Could you ask Governor Eros to raid the back of our house?" I asked.

"Why?" he asked, furrowing his brow.

"My stepmother has an illegal gambling den in our house. Teresita and our neighbors play tong-its there. Isn't gambling prohibited by Governor here in our area? Besides, I want my stepmother to experience what it's like to be behind bars," I said, smiling sweetly, with a mischievous grin.

A wicked smile on my face.

Before, I had never considered reporting them because I would have been the one blamed once they discovered the illegal gambling activities in our house. But now, I don't care if they blame me or not. I want that wretched Teresita to get what she deserves. Ryzza, Ryan, and their greed will have to deal with the consequences themselves.
