Taking the weed out.

'Aaahhh' I woke up panting drenched in sweat despite the cold air wntwing the room. I looked at the clock 3:30 am, the rays from the moon shone into the room from the window, I forgot to shut. 

Getting up from the bed I grimaced at the cold floor, I walked to the window it was a full moon with no cloud. It shined with few twinkling stars, I wish I could see a wishing star. Shutting it with force as though it  was the memories that tried to resurface. 

Acknowledging the fact that I was awake and couldn't go back to sleep didn't help me in any way. This dreams had stopped I wonder why I still have it. It seems my day has started, I changed into my running clothes I might as well make the most from this. Sighing at my bed with longing I walked out of the room. I needed coffee to be awake and go for a run, my day won't turn out great if I don't burn out this emotions. I stared at the coffee maker, wishing it could make the coffee by itself. Feeling lazy to do anything I decided to skip the task of.preparing and go for the run, I could stop at the coffee shop to have my favorite cup of coffee and croissant.

Edmond was still sound asleep in his room,I checked before coming down, hoping he wouldn't wake up soon I left the house. 

I started running slowly, it was still dark outside, I looked at the smart watch on my waist it was 4:15am. I love running by this time, the road was free and quiet.

Flash back.

'He is so cute, ma' 

'He sure is, I guess the beautiful ones are now being born. He is Tony's replica like father like son. ' she said before cuddling him and smiling.

'Ma, do you think I would be a good parent' I asked doubting my ability to fully take care of him.

'You will be a better parent, you are starting to show parenting skills' 

'Like asking for help, you didn't mention it but, the fact you asked if you would be good shouwed you cared about him and would not want to fail him.' she placed sleeping Edmond in his cot and ssat on my bed.

'I can't do this alone ma, Tony promised to be with me.'

'I whispered to her placing my head on her shoulders.'

End of flash back.

I stopped running I placed my hand on my knees to catch my breathe. I didn't realize when I started crying, wiping the angry tears from my eyes. Spotting a bench under  tree I walked to sit on it. I have ever run to this place before. It funny how your mind could be somewhere else and your body knows what to do.

'Suck it Laura you are doing great' 

Yeah like right now have a mental break down on the street.

I looked at where I was, standing straight with my hand on my hips, I was still panting but less violently.

I stopped running to this place, it was where we first..

'Pull yourself together girl, for the business and for Edmond' I whispered quietly forcing the memories that I had burried deep down from resurfacing.

'How was your run?'

'Ahh!' I shouted startled by the question,I turned to see Alice with a mug leaning on the kitchen island.

'So you want to kill me young' 

'No, why would i' 

'Cause you frightened the heck out of me, couldn't you wait till I settled down?' 

''Oh, sorry about that's She said scratching her head.

I rolled my eyes at her, she never learns

 'Where is Edmond?' I asked looking at the living room for him.

'He is still sleeping, besides it 5:30 am' 

'Yh, it still early I will go to work early and come back late, do you have any plans for this evening?' I asked while searching the fri8for.the smoothie I kept.

'No plans at all, wem I drank the smoothie' she said sheepishly.

'What? fine prepare me a cup of coffee you know how I like it.'

'Yes Laura' 

'Good' 

Shutting my bedroom door I slide against it till I sat on the floori was exhausted. 

My phone started vibrating, can't I have piece.

'What?' I asked without looking at the called ID.

' Morning to you too, I found the rest of the mole and don't shout but your office has been bugged' 

'When did you find out?' I asked calmly, I needed some form of distraction this was just perfect.

'I will be there, have you brought them to my office?'

" No not yet' he responded.

'Good, don't call them and make sure my office is bug free before I arrive.'

'Yes ma'am' 

I ended the call,  this was just the distraction I need to wakeup. Speaking of waking up Edmond won't be awake anytime now, best I leave before he gives me those irresistible puppy eyes.

'Alice when Eddy wakes up video call me, after his breakfast you can take him to the park... that should be all for now. I will be in my room if you need me.'

'Good morning ma'am' one of my employee greeted.

I nodded in response,I was in no mood for pleasantries. I was out to take the weeds that has been growing in my business for long. I know how to play dirty but I don't, we all want money that why we start our business. But no, while others try their best to do the right thing others want to play dirty.

'Good morning Laura' Nicholas greeted handing me my coffee. Oh coffee, what would I do without you, with my breakdown in the morning I forgot about it.

'Thank you' I smiled to him, Nick has been with me since the beginning of the busines, we are like siblings from the different mother. 

'How are you doing Laura?'

How am I doing? I don't even know am a working breakdown that's if it's a word.

'Fine' I replied giving him a tight smile.

There was silence after that, we entered the elevator.

He stopped the elevator before facing me, I cocked my eye brow at him.

'I know you are not fine Laura, I didn't expect you to be at work this week since....'

'I can't stay at home and mope all day because my husband died and am a widow with child! No!, I can't stay at home and think how my life would be if he was still here with me!.' I was crying at this point, he hugged me drawing circles on my back.

'There it is, let it all out' 

We stayed like that till my eyes stopped producing tears and I had calmed down. I felt relieved after the melt down, I guess all I needed was a shoulder to cry on.

'Sorry I made your shirt wet' I said cleaning my face and trying to look presentable.

'No worries at all, remember am always there to help.'

'I will remember that, give me the files on the moles and what is the status on my office.'

'Ermm... about that...'

 We were on the floor my office was located, ' What about it?'

'It will take some time to find them, I arranged a temporary office.'

'Fine, will manage that for now call the moles' 

I entered my 'temporay office' it wasn't bad but it needs some touchups. The office had glass window, dark mahogany table at the middle.

'Interesting.' I walked to the chair behind the table, after adjusting it to my satisfaction there was a knock on my door.

' Come in' 

It was time to let bitchy Laura out, I schooled my face to that of in difference.

'Should I let them in' Nick asked popping only his head inside the office.

'Yep' 

They entered after my response, I looked from my file to see the people responsible for my decrease in profit.

'Have your seat please, do you know why you have been called to my office?'

'No ma'am' 

'I will cut the chase, am giving you ten minutes to get your things and work out from this building.'

'What?'

'I mean you are fired' 

'For what exactly?'

Ian asked fanning confusion, hmm just when I want to be leinient people bring the bad side of me.

'Let me tell you, you are fired for selling my business information to my rivals' 

Jacob and Joseph came to the realization that they have been caught. They got up and left leaving Ian alone with me.

'You are no exception leave' 

'Look, you have no evidence that I was part of them and you cannot fire me without a solid prove of evidence.' he said folding his arms and smirking.

'I so have evidence enough that could get you info jail, wait why do I need to involve the police when I can serve justice myself. I wanted this to be peaceful, you leave and everything ends but no you want evidence. Here is your evidence but you request comes with consequences.' 

I gave him the tablets that had pictures of him meeting the spy tied in the warehouse and I played few audios for him. He gasped but quickly recovered.

'How do I know I was not edited into those pictures and the audio is not a setup.'

I got up from my chair and walked up to him sitting opposite him this time, smirking.

'You are stubborn, but it will do you no good believe it or not that is the evidence I will be presenting to the police or not...' I said grinning evily.

'What do you mean' 

'Oh nothing, I know there is a little girl called Eva White. It would be sad to hear of her demise by car accident would it, or no your pregnant wife loosing her baby mysteriously?. Am so confused you pick which would be better.

'Leave my family out of this, you are insane!. It's not a surprise you  became a widow, you heartless b****.' he shouted.

'Very well, your wife it is' 

I said nonchalantly, watching his reaction.

'No!' heran to hold me but I kicked him in guys before he got to me, just the reaction I wanted.

'Leave my building and this town with your family. If should hear qoed of you conspiring against me, you would know how heartless I am.

'Out!'

'How did it go?' 

I didn't need to see the person to know it was Nick.

'Perfect' 

'What did you say to Ian he was a mess when I saw him.' 

'Nothing to worry about, now that the weeds has been plucked out lets analyse the damage done.'

'Very well' he said occupying the chair Ian sat.
