I stood in front of a TV screen in my office, staring intently at the news report that was unfolding before my eyes. Jeremy was beside me, but I could barely register his presence as I watched my father, trying to clear his name from the recent scandal that had rocked the city.

I gently reached out to my long hair I just dyed brown and tied it up in a messy bun, my face was creased with worry as I listened to the news anchor's voice.

My father was being accused of embezzling funds from his company, and the news report was showing footage of him leaving the corporation, surrounded by a throng of reporters and photographers.
