Chapter Three

 I felt uncomfortable with all the spending on me, I wanted to reject his gifts but thinking of how he would feel I let it go instead I collect them and keep them safe Specially the jewelries. I made sure I kept them in a safe in my closet to avoid losing them .

I proceeded to open the car door as I could hear susurrant voices of people around us. “ wait Babe, before you proceed I want you to have this. He reached out his hand and was holding a necklace. This is the symbol of our love and I want you to wear it around your neck so that it will be close to your heart and remember this day as I promise you that I will always make you happy as long as you are mine.” He wore the necklace around my neck and true out my life I have never seen such a resplendent design.  It was a heart shaped gold , with Our initials boldly carved and diamond encrusted, the E and H were merged together all in one heart.

“ I have one more surprise for you, get in the car.” He opens the door for me while he walked around the car and got in. The smell of a new car passed through my nose as I inhaled it. It was just as I thought it would be, splendid.

I fastened my sit belt and we drove out. Within ten to fifteen minutes we arrived at the airport. “ Babe, what are we doing here?” I said as I unbuckled my seat belt . 

“ Come with me Babe.” He gets out of the car and started walking towards the entrance. I sighed and followed him as I got out of the car. “ why has he brought me here and where on earth is he taking me”.  He suddenly stopped at the reception and was speaking with one of the men working at there as I watched him from a distance. “ Hey Babe! Come on. He came back and drag me by the hand. Come on babe, let’s go.”

We continued to the hanger with the man he was speaking with earlier. When we got there the pilot was already standing with rest of the air crew. I Halt for a moment seeing that he was about to take me up into the airplane. “ hold on Babe. Where are we going?” he paused and sighed “ baby! Just trust me okay? He tried convincing me but I wouldn’t budge. “ Alright fine, I will tell you the final surprise. We are going to Miami for the weekend.” He says eventually . 

“ Huh! I jumped.  Dre what are you thinking? You know I have to be at work tomorrow and if I’m not mistaken today is Thursday and the weekend starts tomorrow not Today.” I cried out , knowing all he is doing was for my happiness and to make me feel special on my birthday but it can’t be on the expense of my job. Though he might be wealthy and all but the little I earn from the work I do supports me and makes me feel independent, and I want to keep it that way.

“ Babe you don’t have to worry about that, I took care of it. He paused and sigh. Do you think I would plan all these for you without securing your job first? Listen, I had a word with your manager fees days ago to give you a day off this Friday and he concurred to what I asked for. He glanced at me and noticed the skeptical facial expression, he takes out his phone and dials my office line then puts it on loud speaker when It began ringing. It rang twice before the call was received.

“ Hello. Good evening sir!” I heard my the managers voice over the phone.

“ yeah. Mr. Bernie I am calling to remind you of the favor that you had agreed to Do for me regarding your employee. He steals a pick at me and then back on his phone. I just want  be reassured that you have not gone back on your words Mr. Bernie. “ 

“ Oh not at all sir. You gave me an order and I followed it just like asked sir.” 

“ Wait a second. Sir?” hearing my manager address him with so much importance made me come to realization that something smells fishy, I pondered.

“ Alright then, thank you Mr. Bernie.” He hung up, raising his head with the “ Are you satisfied”  look. I was already wearing a long face.

“ Dre. Are you my boss?”

He chuckled and looked away. “ yeah. He paused and glanced at my facial expression. I bought your restaurant.”

“ what the F!” I freaked out.

“ Hey. Hey. Babe, before your outburst just hear me out first okay?”

I crossed my arms and looked away.

“ Hailey listen. Your old boss came to me with the business proposal and pleaded that I should buy the restaurant because he needed the money for some work which I did, but I was only trying to help out a friend and trust me I never wanted  you to find out this way baby, I’m sorry.” He took my hands and held them close to his chest while giving me the puppy dog eyes, Gosh! He always weaken my heart with those blue eyes.

“ I will let this pass If you promise me right here and now that you will not treat me no lesser than just your employee and just like everyone else I don’t want special treatment or bonuses unless I earned them fairly, or else I will find another job else where. Do we have a deal?” I offered a hand shake, he smiled then took my hand and pulled me closer to him as he hugs me tightly.

“ I’m sorry baby.”

“ it’s okay as a long as you did it for a friend.” 

“ shall we?”

“ yeah. As I took a step forward, it occurred to me that I had nothing to wear no undies, no clothes nor shoes.  Baby but I didn’t even get to pack my stuff. “ 

He sighs deeply “ Babe, for once can you not bother about anything and just come with me?”

“ Alright.” I followed him as we got into his private airplane.

I was treated like a queen while on the plane, it took us almost five hours to get there and our flight finally landed. I checked the time and it was past midnight so we the car that was already there waiting for our arrival to the hotel. By then I was feeling exhausted and sleep-eyes, He wrapped his hands around my shoulders as we took the elevator up to our room.

We settled in eventually and my romantic boyfriend pick me up from the bed, undressed me and laid me down in the tub while he bathed me, after wards he dried my hair with the towel and put new down in bed naked then he freshened up and joins me in bed, gave me a good night kiss as we cuddled all night in each other’s arms .

Waking up the following morning, I was startled to find the room service lady standing close to my bed. “ good morning ma'am “ she greeted with a smile.

“ you scared the pee out of me, why were you standing next to my bed?” I got out of bed to go wash my face.
