His firm callused palms were holding her when she woke up, his face buried in her neck, his soft breaths fanning her skin.

She caressed her fingers over his, reveling in the feeling of waking up like this which she had never grown tired of.

She doubted if she would ever have enough of this, irrespective of the uncountable times she had woken up in his arms.

He had stayed with her throughout the night, tending to her fever and whispering words that calmed her down when it seemed as though the reality which had turned into nightmare would overtake her.

The memory was faint, but she had no doubt that it hadn't in the least been a dream.

Promised he would never leave her,

And told her that he loved her.
