Sven P.O.V
"Congratulations Alpha, the future Luna is expecting." I looked up at the couple opposite me and was greeted with mixed emotions. The future Luna's grin would have put the Cheshire Cat to shame, while the Alpha's clean-shaven face remained stone cold.
"Is it a boy or a girl?" Alpha Eric purred coolly. I glanced from him to his partner whose smile had now faded. He sat there, emotionless, and empty.
"You both want to know the gender?" I smiled weakly. I knew that whatever I said could be met with hostility. I had known the Alpha since he was a small boy. He often played with my son, Gavin, when they were kids. I could tell when something was troubling him and this was definitely troubling him.
"Baby." Tatiana placed a gentle well-manicured hand on the Alpha's arm. "Can we wait to find out? I want it to be a surprise." She was concerned as well.
She playful teased him by gently scraping her false nails up and down his arm. He made no movement under her touch. It was no secret that Tatiana was not the Alpha's destined mate.
Eric's Father had died after the war between the Golden Sun Pack and the Blue Moon Pack. Although Alpha Peter had claimed victory he died soon after due to the severity of his injuries. This left his son Eric as Alpha at the tender age of 18. Many believed him unfit or to young to control a large pack such as Blue Moon, but no one dared challenge him. Five years on and he has yet to find his mate which naturally produced more speculation. To make matters worse, the young Alpha loved to revel in the company of she-wolves and recently got in tow with Tatiana. She has conveniently found herself pregnant and being pregnant to the Alpha automatically made her the future Luna.
"I want to know." The Alpha said through gritted teeth.
"Very well. Luna Tatiana if you wish you are more than welcome to wait outside so you can keep the gender a secret."
I looked at Tatiana who had removed her hand from the Alpha and was now tucking strands of her long straw-blonde hair behind her pixie shaped ear.
"No!" Eric barked "Do not refer to her as the Luna she does not deserve that title yet! She will stay here."
His hands gripped the edge of my desk. He was close to breaking point and I knew if I pushed the issue any further my desk would pay the price.
"Of course Alpha." I calmly said. "You are expecting a girl." I let the news take a few moments to sink in. Tatiana's smile lit up her face again.
"A girl! Baby how wonderful." She cheerfully retorted.
The Alpha was yet to comment. He remained emotionless in front of me.
"A girl? Are you sure?" he whispered.
"Yes Alpha." I smiled at him knowing this was not the news he wanted.
"A GIRL!" He roared. He grabbed Tatiana's hand tightly. "You couldn't even give me a male heir!" He threw her arm towards her and jumped up from his seat.
His huge physique had him towering over me and for the briefest of moments I thought he was going to punch me.
"Baby please." Tatiana pleaded reaching out for his arm with tears streaming down her face.
"Get off me!" he snarled and stormed out of my office.
I immediately jumped up to follow him but not before getting a nurse to take care of Tatiana.
From the exterior, the Pack House looked like a mansion. It was comprised of four floors each with dedicated living quarters for the leading pack members. The top floor was entirely devoted to the Alpha and consisted of small kitchenette, guest rooms, the main bedroom, two studies and a large lounge room. The third level was for the Beta and Gamma and their families, while the ground floor had the kitchens, dining room and pack Hospital. I was not looking forward to climbing up several flights of stairs to get to the Alpha's quarters.
Panting as I finally reached his bedroom, I could hear him throwing furniture around.
"Alpha Eric." I called out knocking on the door.
"A girl! I can't believe it. I thought I could make this work if I knew there was going to be a male heir to become Alpha but not with a girl! And I'm never sleeping with her AGAIN!" He smashed a vase into thousands of pieces.
"Alpha please." I needed to calm him down. The more upset he got the more likely Blaze, his wolf, would come forward and an angry wolf is not to be messed with.
"Now I'm stuck with her! All because I can't find my mate. Why has the Moon Goddess punished me like this?" His hands were pulling at his hair.
"Eric listen to me!" I yelled which seemed to momentarily focus his attention on me. "I promised your Father I would look out for you and I always will but flying off the handles like that is not helping."
Eric slumped down on the edge of his bed.
"It's hopeless" he whispered.
"What's hopeless? Have you been having the mate-call dreams again?" I asked sitting down next to him.
"Yes, every night I'm plagued by a beautiful she-wolf but she's always out of reach. I think I'm doomed to never find my mate and be stuck with Tatiana for the rest of my life." He put his head in his hands. "She promised me she was on the pill. Hell, I even used protection just to be on the safe side." He pulled his hands over his face before shaking his head in defeat.
"Are you sure the pup is yours?" I asked.
"She's been glued to me for months. I can't think of a moment we didn't spend together. I'm such a fool!" He leaned back onto his bed and closed his eyes.
"I can't make it all go away Eric and I can't tell you what to do. But as your doctor I can advise having a break would be a good idea. Leave Beta James in charge for a few days while you take a much needed break away from Tatiana and everyone. Come back refreshed and ready to tackle your problems from a different angle."
I stood up and made my way to the door.
"Dr Sven." Eric called, sitting up. "Thank you." He smiled.
"Always a pleasure Alpha."
I closed the door gently behind me and was met with Tatiana glaring at me.
"What is his problem Doctor!" She snapped.
I wanted to say his problem was her, but I bit my tongue and smiled sweetly.
"He's just a bit over worked Tatiana." I said, "I have advised the Alpha that a brief, solo holiday would be beneficial."
I turned her gently away from his door and walked her towards one of the guest rooms she was staying in on the Alpha's floor.
"What? A holiday without me?" she pouted.
I could tell she was more outraged at the thought of missing out on a free holiday than of her partner needing time off because he was stressed. It made me cringe at her selfishness.
"Yes. Perhaps spending some time with Blaze would be helpful for him." I mused knowing the idea of Eric spending time with his wolf instead of her would annoy her.
As we arrived outside her door, I saw Beta James and Gamma Luke coming towards us. Tatiana plastered a fake smile on her face and cocked her hand on her hip.
"Well hey there." She giggled flirtatiously as the Beta and Gamma stopped next to us.
"I hear congratulations are in order, future Luna." Beta James said.
"Yes, isn't it exciting?" Her gaze travelled from the Beta and rested on Gamma Luke who shifted uncomfortably next to her.
"Indeed" Beta James replied. "Excuse us. The Alpha is expecting us. We best be on our way."
Beta James made a polite bow to Tatiana and walked on with a sheepish looking Gamma next to him.
I looked back at Tatiana who was eyeing them off while biting her lip. She wasn't discrete when she flirted, and it made me even more convinced that our future Luna was nothing more than a fraud. I had long suspected she was willing to use whoever she could, to get to the top.
I cleared my throat and her cheeks flushed with embarrassment.
"Gosh, will you look at the time. Eric's Mother will be expecting me for my Luna training. I better get changed!" With that she opened her door and scurried inside.
I looked at my watch and was surprised to see it was 5pm. Time for me to finish up for the day. I returned to my office at the hospital. I checked for any memos that had been left during my absence. As there was nothing urgent, I retired to my suite located on the second floor where all Pack House staff members lived.
I made myself a quick sandwich and opened my laptop. I had two new emails which to me was exciting because I rarely got any messages outside of work.
The first email was from my son Gavin. Gavin and I had always been close. My wife died when he was a baby, so it had always been just the two of us, well almost always. In his email he expressed concern towards Eric, so I replied suggesting he get in contact with Eric and go on his trip with him.
The second email caught me by surprise. It was from a very old friend, someone I thought I'd never hear from again.
It had been over 18 years, but I still remembered the devoted Dr Gary. He was my mentor when I started practicing at the hospital. I modelled my own practice methods on his. I remember he was of similar age, perhaps a year or two older. I was amazed to learn that he had been human, he knew so much about werewolves. I recalled that he had to leave his work as head pack doctor after his wife, Mary had a mental break down, it was very sad. I often wondered what had happened to them after the war, but I was too afraid to find out.
Dear Sven,
I hope this email finds you well. How is your son? He must be in his 20s by now.
It is not by chance that I write this email. I have a favour to ask of you, but I think its best that we meet in person to discuss. Its regarding a woman named Diana and her involvement with our daughter Sophie.
Please email me back. This is urgent and I think you are the only one who can help me.
Gary.
Oh Diana. What have you done?
Sophie P.O.VIt was only a day before my 18th birthday and Gary had not heard back from his old friend. I didn’t really believe that he would, but it had given me a little bit of hope. I hadn’t slept well, with my mind constantly thinking about the last couple of days. Adopted, Werewolf, Mystery.I paced nervously up and down my room. I felt like a caged lion. I looked out my window and saw several kids from my school walking to nearby Riverswood High. I was meant to be getting ready to go to school. Not that I ever wanted to go. But I was relieved when Mary and Gary suggested I stay home at least until I’d completed my coming-of-age. Fed up with the waiting around I decided to go and get some breakfast. As anticipated, Mary and Gary were already eating breakfast at the kitchen island bench. Gary was munching into his cereal while reading the paper and Mary was taking small bites from a slice of toast with jam while looking
SOPHIE P.O.V (Please note this chapter contains Adult Content and is not recommended for anyone under 18yo.)I waved goodbye as Gary’s Maron SUV pulled away from the camp site carpark. I was grateful for his understanding because he didn’t wait around or fuss over me.The carpark itself was almost deserted apart from two cars at the far end. I assumed that they must be hikers. The park itself didn’t have difficult terrain for your bold explorer but it was large and there were plenty of different walking tracks.I picked up my bag and continued south, away from the cars. I didn’t want anyone to be able to find me when I phased for the first time and that meant keeping away from humans as much as possible. With it being Autumn I knew there wouldn’t be that many people around.I walked along a wide track for a few minutes before diverting off into the shrubs and surrounding bushes. After walking for 20 minutes thro
ERIC P.O.V“She smells amazing.” Blaze cried out.I tried everything I could to stop my wolf from racing over to her.Nitro looked back at us and growled which only heightened Blaze’s desire to get to the girl pleasuring herself in front of us.“Stop it Blaze, we can’t.” I yelled at him. I growled and pushed Blaze back making myself phase into my naked human form. I lost my footing and fell back into the bushes which resulted in the girl gasping in fear.“Who’s there?” she called out.Blaze began pushing us to phase again. I had never seen him act like this before. It was like he was rabid with wanting and for the first time in a long time I was a little frightened. I had to run but I couldn’t trust Blaze if I phased back.Sensing my worry Nitro got up next to me. Gavin spoke using the mind link.“Jump on my back.
I felt as if I had been punched in the chest. I stumble back in shock almost falling over.“Help her!” Roared Blaze.I ran over and fell to my knees not sure what I should be doing but I had to help her. The mate pull made me panic and Blaze whined in my head, hoping that she would be ok. I grabbed one of her arms and slung it over my shoulder. My left arm moved behind her naked back and the touch of her skin on mine sent the electricity flying through me again. I focused on helping the girl and tried to ignore the firm pull of the bond that radiated from her.I lifted her up into my arms, placing my right arm under her perfectly plump arse. FOCUS. Looking around I check my surroundings before aiming for the campsite. “Gavin where are you?” I barked through the link.“I lost him!” he growled in response.“Don’t worry about that now. I have t
Sophie P.O.VDarkness that’s all there was. I couldn’t see anything. I screamed out but there was nothing. My scream just echoed around my head. I couldn’t feel anything. I couldn’t move.“Dove.” I tried calling out. There was no response.Infront of me two large eyes appeared. They were obsidian in colour and glowed. I tried looking away, but the eyes followed my gaze. Were they real? What was happening? Where was Dove? I let out another scream. A snarl of white teeth appeared with the eyes as if they were pleased I was scared.Without warning the eyes and teeth suddenly vanished and I returned to my dark surroundings. I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t understand what was happening. It felt like I had been left here for ages before my body became weightless and a strange calming warmth radiated over me followed by a pulsing electrical buzz. Was this what it was like to die? Had someone killed me? Ma
ERIC P.O.V“I would highly recommend bringing her here so I can examine her.”I got up and grabbed the phone before storming out of the tent. Something wasn’t right. She didn’t recognise me as her mate nor was her wolf present. I needed to talk to the doctor and I most likely would have to come clean with him.“Um, there’s no sign of her hitting her head. There is a graze on her left cheek, but I doubt that would have caused any issue.” I rattled off walking away from the tent.“Eric is there something bothering you? I can hear it in your voice.”I closed my eyes and pinched the bridge of my nose. This can’t be happening. I tried to think of a good reason not to tell him, but he was a doctor, and he knew how potent the mate bond could be. I couldn’t get out of telling him.“She’s my mate.” I felt a little embarrassed.“Are you sure.”
SOPHIE P.O.VI relaxed into the back of Gavin’s car. Looking out the side window I saw Gary with concern written all over his face. I smiled and waved. He forced a smile and a wave back, so I quickly sent him a ‘I love you’ text. This morning was the craziest of my life. Gavin had been kind enough to fill me in on what happened last night. How they found me unconscious and naked. He mentioned a black wolf looking like it was about to attack me. That part made me a little nervous, was that who I heard in the bushes at the swimming hole?Talking to Gavin was easy. It was like I had known him my whole life. He could make me laugh and I knew I could be honest with him. After Eric had taken off to collect my things, Gavin and I set about packing their campsite up. We talked a lot and I told him a great deal about me. How I was a loner at school, learning about my adoption and what it was like to read my biological mother’s letter. He promised
The doctor took me to the pack hospital. He asked me to slip on a hospital gown while he prepared the MRI machine. There was a dressing room adjacent to his office. I removed Eric’s clothes and tossed them in a corner not wanting to look at them. Wearing them only made me feel dirty now. He could come look for them himself if he needed them. After putting on the hospital gown I entered the doctor’s office. My thoughts led me to think about Gary and how he’d been a pack doctor. Was this the kind of office he would have had?The doctor entered five minutes later. I felt very much at ease with him. Similar to how I felt with Gavin. He made me feel at home and he seemed extremely understanding.“Now Sophie, we are going to do a full body MRI. I’m hoping it will give us some clues as to why your wolf has vanished.” He typed on the computer in front of him. “I’ll get the nurse to come in and take some details and
Eric P.O.VIt had been four days since I woke up and we were no closer to figuring out how to get Sophie back. We spent most of the time quarrelling. It didn’t help that James still had trouble believing me and it put a strain on our Alpha-Beta relationship. We couldn’t agree on anything anymore and it troubled me.We located Tatiana back at her cottage. She had also been tricked into believing I was the one that released her and that I wanted her back. When she saw me, she flung her arms around me, kissing me. Luke dragged her off and we sat her down telling her she had been tricked into believing I wanted her back. She had insisted that she had felt the mate bond with my doppelgänger. She claimed that the moon goddess had gifted us a gift as second chance mates. To prove her wrong, I clutched her hand and there were no sparks. She was bitterly disappointed. If anything, it proved that whoever had tricked her was in fact her second chance mate.
Eric P.O.VThere was pain. I felt as if I was deep inside a fire, flames licking my sides. Sophie stood in the distance. I tried to reach her. She cried out for me. She reached for me, but I couldn’t help her. ”Sorry I couldn’t be what you wanted. I will always love you.” She cried out. I fell to my knees as darkness consumed me.I woke sweating profusely. It was like my body was still in the fire. Rhea stood over me, tears on her cheeks. Luke and James looking dejected. My thoughts instantly went to Sophie. Where was she? The door flew open and in ran Dr Sven. I relaxed a little remembering Sophie had gone to see him.“He’s awake, good.” Dr Sven said before sitting on the edge of the bed. “Hello Eric. How are you feeling?”I was confused. What did he mean how was I feeling? “I feel a little hot but I’m ok.” Everyone exchanged a look. “What? Why is eve
“What do you mean?” I asked continuing to stand my ground. I would not show him fear.“I didn’t expect you to come to me so willingly.” He looked at me with lust and wanting.“Why did you do this to me? I…I don’t understand what you want.” His hand moved to my arm and he gently stroked up and down. I felt nothing, nothing like before when he touched me in my dream.“Darling, you do understand. We are meant to be together. Eric is using you for his own personal gain. He doesn’t want you as a Luna.” His hand went to my bump and he stroked my belly. I didn’t move. I didn’t want to move. “This pup, I’ll raise as my own. He’s mine just as much as he is yours.”“But he’s Eric’s. Eric won’t stop till he gets his son back.” I was going to play this his way. Just to see how far we’d get. Anger flashed across Blak
(Warning this episode contains 18+ material)Sophie P.O.V The corridor was old and dusty. Candles dripped milky whiteness onto dark pillars of stone. I had been here once before. Wind howled though the dungeon and I shivered. Pain dully thumped inside my heart. I knew what he was doing. I knew who he was with, but I couldn’t stop myself from seeing. I had to confront him this time. I slowly approached a door. I could feel his presence behind it. I could hear their low murmurs. Edging closer I pressed my ear to the door to listen.“Baby, everything will be alright. I’ll get rid of that bitch Sophie and free you from this prison.” I could hear sobbing. “You were right. She tricked me. She used her magic against me, and I almost lost you. Can you forgive me?”“I don’t know Eric. You abandoned me an
Sophie POVStepping outside was the best feeling. I could breathe again. I didn’t look back, I headed straight for the groves. Dove was anxious, I guessed she wasn’t comfortable leaving Eric. I felt drawn to the clearing that was just beyond the line of trees. Dove paced nervously.“I don’t like this, Sophie. It’s not safe without mate.”Don’t be silly Dove. It’s daylight no one will hurt us. I just need to get over there…Dove growled so I pushed her to the back of my mind. What was her problem. I went around the trees feeling the bark. They looked old and weathered and each had its own character. I wanted to feel connected to the earth, so I took off my shoes letting the lush grass spring up between my toes.Out here I had no one angry at me, no one wanting high expectations. It was just me, the sun and the earth. I smiled and let out a sigh. Why couldn’t life be simpl
Sophie P.O.VI swear we have a problem. Eric and I can’t keep our hands off each other. I chuckle to myself as we lie next to each other panting.“Why are you laughing?” Eric asked, a boyish grin spread across his face.“Us. We definitely have a problem.” I say before Eric grabs me around my waist, pulling me closer to him.“What kind of problem?” He nestled his nose into my neck and inhaled deeply taking in my scent.“Sex. We can’t stop having sex.” I giggled as he started nibbling my ear.“Baby, it was the tracksuit pants and loose top that got me all randy for you.” He lightly pecks my lips before looking into my eyes. “Mind you, it wouldn’t matter what you wore. I want to take what’s mine over and over again.” He said laying kisses up and down my neck. I liked the sound of that. I can’t help but bring my lips to his and kiss him with fev
(Warning this chapter contains 18+ content)Eric P.O.V“WAKE UP!” Blaze yelled.I rolled over and moaned. Was it morning already? I hadn’t slept well. Not after last nights events. What should have been a night of celebration ended up being stressful. I know Sophie didn’t handle it well. I woke a few times to find her shivering. I hugged her and held her close to me. I would have thought my body heat and touch would have soothed her, but she didn’t settle. I even tried waking her, but she was in a deep sleep.“Mate is gone!” Blaze yelled. My eyes shot open. Gone? Gone where?“If I knew that I wouldn’t have woken you. Something isn’t right. Dove and Mate are in pain!” Blaze paced in the back of my mind.I leapt out of bed and went straight to the bathroom. There was no sign of her there. I went to the closet and again nothing.&ldquo
Sophie P.O.VI was shocked. I didn’t know what to say or do. I had already resigned myself to letting Mary have space but now Gary was here, all the feelings of hurt and rejection came flooding back. A single tear rolled down my cheek and I closed my eyes. A soft familiar hand touched my cheek, brushing the tear away. It finally occurred to me. If my adoptive parents rejected me and my biological parents were dead, I still had a family. I had Eric and our pup. I opened my eyes and smiled. There he was smiling back at me. I looked back over at the two disgruntled men sitting in front of us. I sighed and shook my head.“What’s going on is, Eric and I are mates, we’ve marked each other and were expecting a pup.” I looked from one angry face to the other.“Your pregnant? What does your mother have to say about this?” Gary’s face was turning red.“She kicked Eric and I out of the house when we told he
The pack had arrived promptly. They hung around in clusters, whispering and pointing. They knew something big was about to happen. I guess they have been waiting five years for a Luna announcement, and, because I rarely did entire pack announcements, they all knew tonight would be big.Sophie clutched and fidgeted with her hands nervously. On our walk here there had been a lot of what ifs. I tried reassuring her that it didn’t matter what other’s thought as long as we had each other. Knowing this had calmed her a bit.Looking at her now, all I wanted to do was hold her. I wanted to kiss away the fears and worry. I wanted to strip her naked and make her body come alive. Blaze purred at the thought of that, and I chuckled to myself. He wanted me to go to her but she and I both knew we couldn’t display affection just yet. Not with the already large crowd gathering in front of us.As the time to talk neared I began to shake a little. It wasn’
