SAMANTHA’S POV

Before driving to the house, I stopped by a perfume store to get scented candles. Lucas didn't quite know I'll be coming back to the house today. I didn't even report at the office.

"Thank you so much," I said to the receptionist at the counter.

She packed my order of camwood and lavender candles. "You have such good taste," the woman who looked like she was in her mid thirties said.

"Thank you for the compliment," I smiled at her, took my order and headed towards the door. It was ten minutes past six– two more hours till Lucas was due from the office and that's if he had no hectic schedule.

I placed my package in the backseat and got into the driver's seat. I was trying to hide it, I tried to tell myself I wasn't anxious and going back to the mansion wasn't much of a big deal– I've been living there almost six months.

I guess it wasn't to be. I was more nervous than I'd expected. The drive back home was supposed to take a maximum of ten minutes, but I took twenty minutes.
