I saw red as I laid eyes on Andres, I was even angrier when I realized what he was doing–blocking my path. Anger surged through me, fueling the fire within. Without hesitation, I lunged forward, aiming a punch at him. But he seemed to have seen it coming, he ducked dodging the punch that would have made his nose bleed.

He laughed sarcastically, his voice dripping with disdain. "Is that the best you've got, Lucas? Still as pathetic as ever." He smirked at him with disdain, obviously enjoying his one minute victory.

I clenched my fists, my jaw tightening with the effort to control my rising fury. Ignoring his jabs, I turned my attention to Samantha, who looked on with irritation. She knew how much of a jerk Andres was , but I felt embarrassed, knowing that she didn't need to witness a family feud.

Andres, looked over my shoulders, his eyes fixed on Samantha, and took slow strides towards her. I wasn't about to let him come close to her, Andres was bad news. I moved swiftly, intercepting

I couldn't believe what I was witnessing. They were right here, in front of me shamelessly displaying their affection oblivious of my presence. I shook my head in embarrassment and muttered under my breath, "Do they even realize we're in public?"I stood for a while watching the lovebirds, hug and kiss and stare into each other's eyes for a long time. I chuckled dryly, "Just right, Samantha you're a third wheel lucky you,". It was business after all I reminded myself. After futile efforts of trying to get Lucas to look at my face so I would gesture to him that it was way past time to resume at the office– so much for striving for the position of CEO. I couldn't bear their sight any longer, I opened the car door and slid inside he would join whenever he wanted, my frustration boiling over. I closed the door with more force than necessary, hoping to release some of the pent-up annoyance that had built within me. It was time to distance myself from their love bubble, they had another th

The atmosphere was filled with tension. What was she thinking? I stood there, shocked and infuriated by Samantha's accusations. Audrey's face twisted in anger. I couldn't believe what Samantha just said."What are you even talking about, Samantha?" I demanded, my voice seething with anger. "When have I ever been drunk and done something like that?"Samantha casted a knowing glance at me, a smug smile playing at the corner of her lips, "Lucas, Lucas, Lucas…" she paused tilting her head slightly as she looked at Audrey with a scorn on her face."Darling, I know you won't remember but it did happen and it was the best time of my life," she added.I rubbed my forehead with the back of my hands, I can't look Audrey in the face… I was too short of words to say a word to her, "Samantha stop this instant!" I said, slightly raising my voice."Oh please, you should have thought of the repercussions of your actions before you went rogue with me on the bed," She snapped and got into the car.I wa

If the air wasn't too thick with tension, I'd have laughed so hard at Lucas' reaction till my chin start hurting, so instead, I took a deep breath, trying my best to suppress the amusement that threatened to erupt up inside me. I turned to face the window when I noticed he was looking at me through the rear mirror. I had pushed some buttons and was expecting an explosion but I didn't get any. I knew he'd come at me even harder than his vile words, he was clearly taken aback by what I did and yet, strangely he was calm. That wasn't the kind of reaction I expected from Lucas, there was more to his calm approach and I couldn't wait to wrap my fingers around it.I sucked in a breath and closed my eyes as he drove at high speed silently praying we get to the office in one piece. In all his frustration, I felt no remorse. It was my little payback for his sneaking back to the room last night. He thought he could just creep in while I was asleep and get away with it? Well, now he knew what it

  • When Storm Meets Hail    SAMANTHA'S POV

I curled my lips in horror at what Valerie just did, she had just ignited a ticking bomb and it was going to explode, on her … on me. I looked back up at Lucas face etched with anger. The look on the faces of the staff present meant only one thing–and I wasn't ready for it. I'm sure the staff feared that Lucas would do something drastic but I feared even more that he wouldn't, because that only meant something– he was going to come back harder and at me. Even though I always thought his actions were inconsequential to me, I can't seem to get a grip of myself. Cold shivers ran through my spine and my fingers became chilly. I didn't know what I was feeling but I inhaled deeply frequently, reminding myself that I wasn't about to have a panic attack.I pinched myself, I pressed my wrist to ease my anxiety, but it wasn't working. I wanted to scream, to stop everything from spiraling out of control. This situation had escalated far beyond what I had anticipated. Now, there was a real possi

The looks on the faces of the people around us spoke words their mouths couldn't utter. The look of admiration etched on their faces meant only one thing– I played my part well, a smile danced at the corner of my lips I felt a twinge of triumph. I had accomplished my mission to throw Lucas off balance, to make a statement that would leave everyone talking.I could hear the murmurs and whispers behind us as we stood there, still caught up in the aftermath of the make-believe kiss. "Wow, they really make a beautiful couple," someone muttered, and I couldn't help but relish in the web of facade I had woven myself in, even if it was just for a fleeting moment.I turned to face Lucas, who stood there fixed– obviously didn't see the kiss coming and that boosted my confidence. His expression was a mixture of shock and disbelief, clearly caught off guard. I leaned into him, resting my head on his chest, and wrapped my arms around him in a warm embrace.I tugged at him playfully and whispered

I took a few steps backwards as he approached me with sturdy steps, I clenched my fist. My mind raced, with trepidation as I searched for the right words. "Lucas, listen… I didn't want to cause more arguments. I was just trying to avoid any misunderstandings among your employees," I lied, desperately hoping he would buy my feeble excuse and stop closing in on the distance between us.He shook his head, his eyes narrowing with disbelief. "And when did you start caring about my employees?" He asked.I inhaled deeply, "I-I-I… I couldn't just stand whilst things went wrong… I mean I'm your wife,""Aha! The same title you dreaded to embrace, the same word you can't wait to drop when all these whole thing is over,""But we were in public… in your company Lucas, the walls have ears, we can't risk them finding out about this," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. He rubbed his forehead with the back of his hands, "What about earlier with Audrey? Samantha jerked away from me abruptly when the door flung open and my secretary walked in holding a shopping bag in her hands. The flustered look on Samantha's face gave her away as she walked gingerly to the couch at the corner of the room and slumped like a tired five year old.The tension in the room was palpable, I could tell from the way Samantha stared blankly at the portrait that hung on the wall, to my secretary standing at loss for words."I'm so sorry for barging into your office Sir, I was carried away," she apologized.I shoved it aside with a wave of hands, "It's alright, not like you were interrupting anything overboard,we were having a discussion…" I added."So what do we have here?" I questioned, looking down at her hands. She smiled, "New pair of shirts, Sam–" She paused and glanced briefly at Samantha and back at me, "Your wife asked that we get new shirts," she said.I was a bit taken aback, but I composed myself in the presence of my secretary. "I'm done," I jolted as Lucas' words hit my ears, causing the skin on the neck to rise with goosebumps."You didn't have to do that," I replied, a little startled. He had a playful smirk on his face and that got me disgusted. The shirt seemed to accentuate his structured body, hugging every part of his muscles that popped."I didn't have to do what?" He questioned, the smirk still plastered on his lips."You didn't have to whisper into my ear to tell me that," I retorted, my voice filled tinged with anger.Lucas's retort was swift, his tone laced with mockery. "Aha! Now you know how I felt when you lied about being intimate with Audrey."I rolled my eyes, "I thought we've moved past that?" I questioned, feeling a little but awkward that he referred to the incidence repeatedly. He sat on the couch and turned to face me, his knees slightly brushing on mine. Days had passed and everything seemed to return back to normal except for a few times– when I saw Audrey, either at the house during breakfast or at the office. Asides that, my relationship with Lucas was moving just fine.I got out of the bed and made to walk into the bathroom to prepare for work when I lost balance and fell back on the bed. My head felt fuzzy and my legs were wobbly. I held the back of my neck to keep it steady, but it was like a log of wood was stuck in my head."My goodness…" I muttered under my breath as I managed to stand up and started making my way to the bathroom, when I felt bile rise to my throat. I quickened my steps, turned on the faucet when I stepped foot into the bathroom and threw up all the content in my stomach. I felt fuzzy the more I threw up, I slid onto the floor and leaned my back against the wall. There was a knock on the door. "Come in…" my voice was faint, even through the sound of the water gushing out I knew he must've heard.Lucas came in

I had mixed feelings about Lucas' actions. Yes, Audrey was a bit too much, but she was carrying his baby or at least that was what she made us think. Perhaps, he should have been a little lenient with her and let her be till she puts to bed."Are you cussing at me because of Samantha?" Audrey's tone was that of bewilderment.A vein in Lucas' neck pulsed hard, "My wife. That's who she is and I wouldn't have you displace her," he tightened his grip in my hands, "Now get out," his voice was calm but had the sharp edge of a sword.Audrey looked at me intently and I could clearly see through the hatred that brewed from her. She stared for a while and left.Lucas turned to face me. "I shouldn't have picked up a fight with her in the office," I regretted my actions, but it was much needed. He placed a finger over my lips, "It's okay pumpkin, you don't have to defend anything," his voice reached to my heart and patched the broken pieces like the holes weren't there to begin with."I love you

My schedule stared at me and I could barely make out the words. I had a meeting slated for four p.m and I was already bored. I was tired sick of everything happening, Samantha was doing a good job trying to keep it together but, for how long would she keep up with the act.A knock sounded on my door, the door creaked open and my secretary walked in. "Sir the meeting–"I rubbed my forehead in frustration, "I know what time the meeting is slated for,"She nodded and walked towards my desk to pick my laptop. "It's in five minutes right?" I questioned."Yes Sir, and some of the board members are already on their way," she said.I waved my hands in dismissal. I was suffocating and nobody was seeing it, or maybe they were and they can't do anything to salvage the situation. Audrey coming to the office was something I'd never have imagined to happen and it did. What was my father thinking, agreeing to it in the first place? He hated her the moment he set eyes on her, ''She's not good enough

Soon after Lucas left for his office, Laura walked in looking a bit disgruntled and without my regular morning coffee."Laura, I thought you left to get my coffee?" I questioned, when in fact she left to give Lucas and I privacy. She inched closer to my desk, "The new staff took the cup of coffee from me," her voice was low, I had to strain my ears to make out what she was saying.I clenched my fist into a ball, taking a deep seated breath to quench the anger that was threatening to erupt. "And who's the new lady?"You know who.Laura tugged at the edge of her shirt, "Audrey–"Take a deep breath Samantha. I took a deep breath, paused for a few seconds and forced a smile across my face. "Thank you Laura, you may leave now," I tried so hard to conceal the disdain in my voice."I'm sorry ma'am. I should have been more careful. But, she just snatched it from–"I raised a finger to stop her from saying more. I should have scolded her, but this had absolutely nothing to do with the young la

All through the drive, all I could think of was; What would the other staff say when they see Audrey and with a growing bump? Besides Lucas' secretary whom I was sure would keep the situation under lock, I wonder who else got wind of the news.I tried to focus on other things. Other things like exposing Audrey for whom she really was. I don't know if it was what comes with old age or his way of punishing Lucas for slipping up but Javier wasn't seeing Audrey for the sly she was and it bothered me."Samantha…"What does she want now?No response. I wasn't in the mood to talk to her and I was only doing what Javier asked, "I just want to get acquainted to the Java's working system," she rubbed her bulging stomach gently, "It would be nice if I get some experience to at least share with him when he comes of age and is ready to follow in the family's footsteps," she laughed.Lucas, where are you?I bit so hard at my lower lips until I felt the coppery taste of blood in my mouth. Don't cry.

After my visit to Valerie's place, I became more sensitive to Audrey's movements. Where she went to, what she did when we were out. So far, nothing out of the ordinary has happened."Lucas, wait up for me!" Valerie cried from the stairs. We were already running late and one of Audrey's dramas was something we didn't want so early in the morning.Lucas sighed sharply, "What the hell do you want this time?" He gritted.I hope it wasn't what I was thinking. She was dressed in a black velvet gown that stopped just on her ankles, court shoes and a blazer over the gown. It wasn't exactly my style but she looked good."I am coming to the office today," Audrey said.I was a bit taken aback, "Why?" We asked almost at the same time. She rolled her eyes in disgust, "Isn't it obvious?" She sighed, "I want to start working at the company," she looked at me with disdain, "Afterall she works there too,"There was no way in hell. The vein at the back of my neck pulsed hard, and I felt my heart bruise

Going to the office and coming back to the mansion to see Audrey with her fast growing bump wasn't something I looked forward to. I tried to square my shoulders and act like nothing's wrong when on the contrary, I was dying slowly.Audrey altered everything. The peace in the house, the scent and everything to suit her smell on the basis of being hyper sensitive to smell. Lucas ignored her and acted like she was some sorta ghost. But, I knew he looked forward to having his own child. It wasn't the birth of the child that irked me, it was the vessel bearing that child that made this unacceptable."Good morning Ma'am," Laura greeted when I got to work one morning.I nodded in response and made my way to the office. She followed in silence till we reached the door."Do I have any schedule that'll take me out of the office?" I asked when I slouched into the chair. She looked through her memo."Yes ma'am. A meeting with the investors slated to take place by three p.m and–"I waved my hands

I waited till the two lovebirds drove off to work before I started getting ready to go out. It was already past nine a.m exactly and I was a few minutes behind time. The prison visiting hours would be due in forty-five minutes.I'd been in touch with Andres since he was convicted of the crime. They'd all forgotten about him, I couldn't not after all we shared together. He wasn't the nicest person but he ignited the fire in me."Where are you off to?" Javier's voice sounded from the stairs when I opened the door. Lousy old man. I rolled my eyes and put on a calm expression before turning to face him.I flashed him a grin, "I'm going for antenatal," I lied. I could only hope he didn't request I go with the chauffeur because then I would be busted. He nodded, "Have a nice day," his voice was cold. I knew he didn't like me, he never did. Not when I was with Lucas, not when I was with Andres. I wondered why he didn't object to I and Andres' relationship when he got wind of it. Maybe he kne

She looked at the door, maybe hoping for a sign of Lucas then back at me. "Look I didn't ask your husband to get pregnant–"I sensed her anxiety from a mile away. Now was the time to act, "On the contrary, I don't care for you," My gaze lingered on her and fell on her growing stomach. "You would stay here till you give birth,"Audrey leaned into the bed, "I don't intend on moving out after childbirth if that's where you're driving at," her voice was a little shaky but she did a good job hiding it."We'll see about that. After childbirth, you'd go for a DNA test to ascertain who the father of the child is,"Now she got started, her face squeezed into a frown. "What the hell are you saying?"I rolled my eyes. Audrey. Audrey. Audrey. Still as vain as ever, "Exactly what you heard. If you claim Lucas is the father of your child," I paused when the housekeeper walked into the room from the closet and waited till she left, "Then we need to confirm, afterall…" my voice trailed off when she s
