Zillion stepped out with a tired face, got out of his car and rolled up his shabby-looking shirt sleeves. The thirty-three year old man let out a small sigh as he glanced at the black clock on his wrist which had shown the half to ten. After he escorted Caroline back to her office safe, he decided to go back to the office and solve some of the problems caused by his employees who were unable to work. He had just drafted a proposal to win a government-owned tender that would cover some of the losses. Even though it is not much, at least it can help the company's finances which are quite shaken due to the careless actions of his employees.
"Good night, sir."
Zillion smiled a little at Charlotte who was always loyal to greet him. Gives a warm smile that soothes him and also makes him feel alone in the big house he lives in.
"Cassie is home?"
“Mrs. Cassie got home two hours ago, but then Mrs. Cassie went out with her friends to attend a party in Las Vegas. Mrs. Cassie said that she would be gone for two days."
"Oh, thanks Charlotte."
Zillion just walked into his room and left Charlotte alone with the concerned gaze directed at him. The woman in her late fifties seemed concerned about her master's condition, who looked lonely and also slumped because of his wife's stubborn and domineering nature that Zillion could do nothing to prevent his wife from doing whatever she pleases out there.
Meanwhile, Zillion looks upset because again he was left alone with a silence that really feels sick to him. He wanted to call Spencer over to his house, but it was obvious he couldn't because Spencer must be busy with his family.
Remembering about family, Zillion suddenly feels sad. He has always dreamed of having a happy and harmonious family, with many children in it. But because he married a model, this is the consequence that he must get. Isolated and feels lonely in his own home. After all, he was not an asshole who liked to spend his time having fun at bars.
For some reason, he has always preferred to spend his time at home to hang out with his father and mother. Maybe it was because his father was never seen having a good time at the bar either. Even though their family was rich and respected, they were not the kind of family who squandered their possessions to have fun with cheap women. As much as possible he wanted to be like his father, who until the end of his life only survived by loving one wife whom he married lovingly.
"Hello?"
Not getting any idea where, Zillion decided to contact his psychologist at the curfew that was supposed to be used for resting. The man actually knew it would be rude to call someone during recess. But he felt the need to consult to discuss the problem of loneliness that he was experiencing right now.
"Yes can I help you?"
The sound of such a soft formal greeting rang in Zillion's sense of hearing and made the man smile at once. Without wasting a chance, Zillion immediately greeted the woman and asked her to provide advice on his troubles that have been bothering him lately.
"Hi, do you still remember me? I have a problem, can you give me advice?"
With a smile spreading across his face, Zillion walked to the balcony and leaned against the railing of the balcony while listening to every word Caroline said on his cell phone.
“Zillion Malloy? What are you calling me on nights like this? I thought you were one of my clients with serious problems. I shouldn’t have picked up a call from you," snorted Caroline on the other end of the line.
Zillion chuckled with amusement as he listened to Caroline's angry tone as he imagined what the ruffled woman's face would look like if he could actually see her.
“I am your client and I also have serious problems. Remember, you still owe me a lot because the advice you gave has not been proven to solve my problem."
"All right, now tell me what happened to you?"
"I am so lonely."
"Then?"
"Then? Then you have to find a solution to my problem! Do you think I called you just to hear you say then?" replied Zillion sarcastic.
Caroline almost threw her cellphone away from her ear because she was annoyed by Zillion's annoying attitude again after she had been able to be nice enough in front of him.
“If you don't want to be lonely, then find a job that can keep you busy. Why do you have to bother me just because of a simple problem like that. There are still many things that are more important than your loneliness problem Mr. Malloy, so I beg you, don't call me if you are not really pressed."
“So you think my problem is a minor one? Just so you know, Miss Chauffer, the simple problem is the root of the big problem. So be professional and immediately find a solution to my problem."
Zillion watched the line of stars shining in the Chicago sky quietly as he waited for Caroline to advise him. But while waiting for the woman to voice her voice, he could faintly hear the whining of a child coming from his voice call with Caroline.
"Are you with your child?"
“My daughter asked me to accompany her to brush her teeth. So maybe I will take a while to answer your troublesome question. "
"Tsk, hurry up! I do not have much time."
"Then just look for another psychologist. I also have a private life to take care of. Why am I this unlucky, met a very grumpy annoying client," said Caroline exasperatedly on the other end of the phone.
Zillion was eager to burst out laughing at Caroline's exasperated string of words. He realized that his attitude lately was really annoying, but somehow he felt quite comforted when he did that. Pissing off other people turns out to be really fun for him.
"Then tell me, what do you do whenever you feel lonely?"
"Me? I never feel lonely because I have an adorable daughter at home. Besides, I never had the chance to feel lonely because I had too much work to do."
"Then you are really lucky,” muttered Zillion. The only thing he doesn't have in this world is family. If he can exchange his wealth with a family, then he is willing to do it without having to think twice.
“Have you tried relaxation? Maybe it's just the effect of your mind being messed up."
"How to?" asked Zillion curiously. The man then turned from his position facing the sky to lean on the railing of the balcony which was quite high behind him. The night breeze was not so cold as if he was giving a soft caress to the ends of his hair, which had been moving rhythmically to and fro.
“You can start by closing your eyes and doing breathing exercises. Use your imagination to imagine something soothing like a green meadow or a beautiful lonely beach scene."
Zillion subconsciously followed the instructions given by Caroline and began to close his eyes peacefully. His brain then tries to think of fun things that can reduce the annoying feelings he has been feeling lately. Then a flash of his marriage to Cassie four years ago appeared.
In his head he saw himself four years ago, very happy and filled with love from his entire family. But slowly the beautiful image was replaced by a sad image as one by one his family left him until in the end he only left himself, who was standing confusedly in the middle of the arid meadow. Instantly he opened his eyes, he felt a pounding sensation that suddenly penetrated his heart. Just now he saw the greatest fear in him. He was afraid of being abandoned.
"Hello? Zillion Malloy? Are you still there? Mr. Malloy?"
"Yes, I'm still here." Zillion replied quickly. The man was still looking shocked by what he had imagined beforehand and he tried to normalize his feelings by inhaling as much of the night air as possible which did not help to reduce his sudden panic attack.
"I— seem to have some serious anxiety disorder."
"What are you feeling right now? Tell me, please? "
"I—"
Zillion paused for a moment. He tried to arrange a long series of stories that he wanted to tell Caroline. But then he hesitated to tell it, even more so after hearing the sound of a small child on the other side.
Mommy... let's accompany Aleyna to sleep. Aleyna wants Mommy to read a fairy tale to Aleyna.
Yes, wait a moment dear, Mommy is calling someone. Go to your room first, mommy will be there soon.
Mommy— com on...
"Miss Chauffer?"
"Yes, I still listen to you Mr. Malloy. Forgive me, my daughter is whining."
Zillion took a deep breath and he had made up his mind to tell her a little of his problems tonight so that at least he could sleep well.
“I was just imagining my family slowly leaving me. I feel lonely Caroline, and I hate the feeling of abandonment that is haunting me right now."
Zillion sounded frustrated. Caroline winced in surprise behind her cellphone while imagining the face of her client who turned out to have quite a complicated problem. Everyone does not like to live alone, and neither does she. Luckily she has Aleyna who can accompany her solitude. She could not imagine how messed up Zillion would be with his fear which must be so, so disturbing.
"Actually, you need further assessment in my office, Mr. Malloy. But for now try to relax while imagining the fun things you have in your memory. I'm sure, as long as you live you must have at least one pleasant memory that you really keep in your memory, right? "
"Hmm, but it feels difficult. It's easy for you to say that, because you've never experienced what I've ever experienced."
Caroline suddenly became annoyed with Zillion's attitude, which sounded cynical again after the man was able to act normally before. After all, what the man said about herself was wrong. She has even experienced that feeling many times in recent years. But the great thing is that she is able to solve the problem by herself in the midst of various client problems that also pile up in her brain.
“I am also a human being, and every human being has problems. Maybe I have never really felt what you feel because we are two different individuals, but believe me, all this time I have also experienced feelings of fear of being left and living alone.
“In this world sometimes there is not enough wealth to buy everything. We can't buy happiness, we can't exchange sadness for our possessions, and we can't just be happy over a treasure. But we can create happiness. So if you want to get away from your fear you have to create a happiness in your heart so that you can replace that uneasy feeling with a better feeling of comfort. I guess that's all I can give you for now. Do you have any other questions?"
Zillion tries to contemplate every word Caroline has said to him. It was true that he couldn't buy happiness with all the money he had made so far. Money feels meaningless when he is in need of happiness like now. Even the money could not make his wife quit her job as a model. So what was he actually looking for money for? Collect it, to pile up in bank vaults scattered in various countries. A big question just appeared in his heart to make his head dizzy. Tonight it seemed like he was really not going to sleep well. Tonight he will sleep with various nightmares that he created himself in his head.
"Darling...."
Zillion gasped in surprise and immediately looked back when a hand suddenly wrapped around his neck. The man's reflex turned around and smiled at Cassie who was staring at him with her spoiled gaze.
"Are you home?"
The cliché question that he shouldn't be asking just came out of his lips to just open a conversation with his wife. For a moment he forgot that he was currently connected to Caroline. However, when he was about to end his call with his psychologist, the woman had already turned it off and left him with a bad feeling that was building up in his heart.
"Who are you calling?"
“An old friend. How was your work today? Aren't you going to Vegas for two days?" Zillion asked while glancing at his watch which had shown half to eleven. He didn't realize he'd spent about an hour talking to Caroline. And he was quite grateful because it turned out that she was able to comfort him a little in the midst of the fear he created.
"No, I canceled it. And my work today is very tiring. I met my old friend, Theresia. You know, she's Rein's wife. Besides that I also met their sweet son, that little boy is very different from the son of your best friend, Spencer, who is very naughty." Cassie's sneer feeling disdain to that boy.
“Why are you still annoyed with Mark, he's just a kid. After all he didn't do anything really damaging, just a scrawl on the wall."
He didn't know why Cassie seemed to hate Mark so much, whereas with the other kids she looked normal, and tended to like them.
"Zillion— do you really want to have children?" asked Cassie spoiled as she put her hand on Zillion's shoulder.
The shoulder-length haired woman then leaned her head comfortably on the chest surface of the Zillion field while listening to every beat of Zillion's heart that sounded beautiful to her.
"You think? Our marriage is already four years old, and I really want to have children to continue my business empire. Should I wait any longer?" Zillion asked sounding eager.
Cassie nodded faintly behind his broad chest while hugging Zillion tightly. She actually didn't want to disappoint her husband too deeply because of her decision. But this time she really hoped Zillion would wait for her for a few more years.
"Wait a minute, I promise to give you offspring. I'm currently trying to pursue my dream before I decided to take a hiatus and just focus on our family."
“You don't know if I have a limit to my patience? Don't get over Cassie, because I might never give you a second chance," Zillion replied sharply while releasing Cassie's hand from his body.
Cassie stared at Zillion's back as he slowly walked away from her. Somehow she is now afraid of Zillion's attitude which has turned tougher than before. The man was blatantly threatening her, and the threats this time sounded like no joke. Tonight he doesn't look like the Zillion she knew and married four years ago. Someone must have done something to him.
“Spencer! Yes, it must be that man who influenced Zillion to act like this to me. I won't stay silent if something bad happens to my household," muttered Cassie irritatedly as she glared at the door Zillion had just closed.
"Hello?" Caroline winced in surprise when Zillion's voice disappeared again from the loudspeaker on her cellphone. Since earlier this man seemed not too focused on their conversation and often left her alone with various chatterings to advise him. Darling.... Caroline frowned in surprise. Putting the white cell phone away from her ear then staring at the screen of her cellphone with a frown. "Is he with his wife?" muttered Caroline to herself. She then brought the white cellphone closer to her ear and slightly overheard Zillion's conversation with his wife. Even though it was rude, she was a little curious about the figure of his wife who was quite mysterious and carried a bit of a bad stigma in her mind because of the man's negative story about his wife. But from what she just heard, it didn't seem like the figure of Zillion's wife was that bad. Although she could indeed perceive a spoiled tone in every sentence that made her shudder
Rein smiled brightly as he looked at the minimalist two-story house in front of him that looked so neatly arranged. In his hand, the man carries an invitation card with his son's favorite cartoon character, Mickey Mouse, which will be the theme for his son's birthday next week. He confidently walked into the large courtyard of Caroline's house, thinking about the various things he wanted to tell her. Finally, after years of losing the courage to meet Caroline, he has now regained that courage. Since he met Caroline at the bakery, his determination to meet Caroline has grown stronger. He used to feel very guilty to Caroline for hurting her with such an unforgivable betrayal. Even though he still loved Caroline very much. Caroline is his first love. At that time, his infidelity was limited because he was bored with his boring life. He was bored with his artist life which was so restraining him that he could never move freely as he pleased. He was rarely seen wi
"I liked your client, what's his name? Zillion Malloy?" Aaron tried to bring up the topic that Caroline had been avoiding all along. The man realized that Caroline had been trying to avoid him, but he couldn't hold it in anymore and decided to bring up the topic of conversation now. After all, the first impression he got from Zillion was really good. That man is the type of man to be responsible, according to him, with an amazing work background. He was sure that the man could replace him next to Caroline. “Don't start again Aaron, we don't have any relationship other than clients and psychologists. He is one of my clients with quite a complex problem, so I decided to do counseling out of office hours because he is a busy man." "I know. A CEO for an airline that influential in this city must be very busy. But what problem should him come to you? I am curious." Caroline scowled lazily. Why did Aaron have to discuss Zillion when they were together? Does
"Good afternoon. Wow, today it looks like we're going to work hard." Rein greeted the staff who today will be working with him for a photo shoot. The handsome man continued to smile sweetly at all the staff who also looked enthusiastic about his arrival. Some of the staff, who were working with Rein for the first time, immediately asked to take a group photo with the man as a memento for them to show off to their families at home. "Rein Lee?" Rein looked back. He then smiled broadly at a middle-aged man who was a journalist who had been his enemy when he always followed him to become a topic of hot gossip of the year on the pages of a very popular gossip magazine. "Long time no see Mr. Jacob, how are you?" "Very good. My life has been better since I stopped being a journalist. Now I just become an editor and leave all the tiring work to the young people who are more agile than me," said the man laughing. His beard moved in reflex as the man be
Caroline breathed a sigh of relief as she washed her hands and face in front of the hotel toilet mirror. She is really relieved now that she managed to escape the awkward atmosphere that happened between her, Rein, Zillion, and their wives. Since earlier she did not dare to open the slightest voice to reply to their words. She was just silent, wringing her hands restlessly because she wanted to get away from the crowd of people who felt intimidating her. Luckily Aleyna came at the right time to ask her to take the pudding at the table in the left side, so she immediately took the opportunity to get away from the Lee family couple who seemed to never think it was among them. Only Rein kept talking to her, while his wife and colleagues seemed to be skinning her alive with their sharp gaze. Plus Zillion did the same to her. That man had been staring at her with a look that was— She don't know. The kind of gaze Zillion gave was extremely difficult to interpret. The man seemed an
Caroline walked unsteadily to her room and threw her body hard onto the bed. Somehow she was so sad after listening to Zillion's barrage of insults and swearing being thrown at her, when she should have acted normally because that's what happened to her. But somehow she felt Zillion's words hit her heart. The man broke the defenses of her heart which she had long hardened so that she would not have to grieve over her miserable fate. In the past she had also had the same thing. One time she got a client who had been a big fan of Rein and Theresia. The client deliberately pretended to come to her office and disguise herself as her client to deliver a series of insults whose words were utterly inappropriate. But miraculously at that time she didn't feel anything. She just quietly listened to the woman cursing at her, then after that she immediately called the security guard to drag the woman away from her office. But today everything feels different. She suddenly wants
"Eunghh..." Caroline blinked her eyes for a moment and looked so annoyed by the sudden phone call that came while she was sleeping. Lazily she immediately grabbed the square object, glancing at the clock printed on her cellphone screen. "Who is the crazy who called me at this late hour? Twelve Thirty, come on!" muttered Caroline irritably and immediately pressed the rectangular object against her ear. "Hello? Who—" "Ms, please come over here, Mr. Zillion got drunk and hit several employees who were about to stop him from drinking," interrupted a man who sounded so panicked. Caroline frowned in disbelief and immediately glanced at the screen of her cellphone to make sure the caller hadn't been wrongly addressed by calling her. "Is this Mr. Malloy's cell phone?" “Yes, Ms. I found your number to be at the top of the dialed call list, so I decided to call you. Can you pick up Mr Zillion now? Some of the guards have started to feel
"Good morning! Mommy, where's my milk?" “Aleyna, don't scream. Mommy has already prepared it at the dining table." Caroline glanced briefly at her daughter then resumed her almost finished cooking. The young mother swiftly moved here and there to pick up the ingredients she had prepared in the kitchen container. Meanwhile, Aleyna with her cheerful face immediately walked to the dining table to get a glass of her milk and also a bowl of cereal that Caroline had given her. The little girl then walked into the living room to watch her favorite cartoon before Jihoo's uncle picked her up to go to school. "Zillion?" Aleyna stopped her steps in front of the living room sofa when she saw Zillion was sitting on the sofa, ruffling his hair which looks very messy. "Ahh... Aleyna?" Zillion asked uncertainly. He felt he was still having a hangover. And a little dazed by where he is now. Plus his head was also very painful, like he had just been hit
Why did you accept me? I used to get that question from Zillion. After we went through the most emotional series of events at the airport, Zillion asked me that question while looking at me in bewilderment. At that time, I spontaneously told him that I loved him so much that there was nothing else I could do but accept him with open arms. But only recently have I begun to realize that it wasn't just love. Love is what underlies me to say "yes" to him when he proposed to me. But more than that, all of this happened because I learned a lesson from my life. First, starting with my failed marriage with Rein. At that time I was very young. I married Rein when I had just graduated from college and was actively building a career in counseling. When I found out that my ex-husband was getting close to his female co-stars, I just kept quiet and didn't bother him too much. All of that I only considered as part of work professionalism and at that time I was still a very
Zillion thought to himself in his car while staring at his bedroom window which still showed dim light. Since ten minutes ago he had hesitated to come down because he felt sorry for Carolline. Their fight this morning was their first fight as long as they were husband and wife. And all day he really couldn't concentrate on his work because the images of Carolline kept playing in his mind like an annoying broken record. Knock knock Zillion gave the knocker a wait signal and immediately rushed out of his car carrying his briefcase containing important documents from his office. "Sir, what are you doing here at night?" “No, just thinking about something. I'm going in now, please park my car in the garage." Zillion handed the car keys to the men, Ruppert, and after that he immediately entered his house with heavy steps. Tonight he was so afraid to see Carolline because he had hurt her this morning. "Sir..."
"Morning Charlotte, let me take it to the table." Carolline saw that Charlotte was struggling with the large bowl of soup in her hands. But when she saw Carolline about to help her, the middle-aged woman immediately looked away and left Carolline just like that. Carolline then let out a small sigh and immediately walked into the kitchen to make Zillion coffee. Her beloved husband said that her coffee was better than the coffee made by his maids, so her duty every morning was to make Zillion's favorite black coffee. But sometimes she saw that Charlotte had made coffee for Zillion too, so she sometimes felt bad for her because Zillion wouldn't touch her coffee. "Morning Sarah, what are you cooking?" Carolline peeked slightly from behind her maid who was shorter than her. She saw the girl was arranging a few pieces of fried chicken on a plate. But the girl did not respond to her question at all. She was just silent, and after that immediately left while carrying
After Zillion's crazy actions at the airport to stop Carolline from leaving and the man's confession of all the misunderstandings that have occurred so far, Zillion decides to immediately marry Carolline and make the woman his own. There was no longer the slightest doubt in his heart to marry Carolline because from the start he had fallen into the charm of the beautiful Psychologist. However, the life they imagined would be beautiful and full of joy, did not turn out as expected. One month after Zillion officially married Carolline, the news of their affair which had never been revealed by the public, slowly began to emerge and made their married life oscillating. The change in status of Carolline who suddenly became Zillion's legal wife made many media accuse Carolline of being a cheap woman again. Not only that, the news about her first divorce with Rein also began to be resurfaced by irresponsible media and only concerned with their careers. This then provoked Zil
“Shit! You love it, huh!" Zillion pushed Cassie's body hard as soon as they entered his desolate office room. The brown-haired woman then smiled sarcastically at Zillion while trying to stroke Zillion's face, but her right hand was parried by Zillion roughly. "Very love it, darlin. I am satisfied to see the gaze full of pain that is so pathetic. It was the reward she deserved because she had teased mine." Cassie said casually as she crossed her arms. An aura of selfishness and cunning looked so thick on her face which was wearing a smile of victory. Finally she managed to get Zillion to her knees at her feet again like before. And this is all thanks to her hard work for more than one week. “You petty Cassie! So petty! I never thought I ever loved a wicked and cunning woman like you." “Tsk... darl, don't bring up the past that you can't change at all. Forever you will be attached to me as my husband, so just enjoy your b
Bugh bugh bughh! “Get up jerk! Wake up! Tell me, whom told you to lie to me, whom? " Zillion is panting where he stands clutching his opponent's shirt with sweat flooding his face and a blue face that looks pathetic. Meanwhile, the man who is currently being beaten looks resigned while begging for mercy on Zillion who is furious in front of him. "I'm sorry sir." Bugh! “I don't need your damn apology! I need an answer from you." Zillion said emotionally as he continued to beat the face of a man who was bleeding in front of him. This afternoon he suddenly received a blind blow from Jihoo, a man he knew worked as Caroline's assistant. With great emotion the man entered the room and immediately grabbed his shirt collar violently while throwing three punches on his face until the corners of his lips turned blue. But what made him surprised was not the punches given by Jihoo, but the reason the man gave him why he suddenly hit him. A
Along the way to the elevator she kept shedding tears while looking down, without noticing her stumbling steps. Right now she is too shy to look at anyone because she feels so dirty and broken at the same time. Zillion, that man had crushed her heart to pieces without remainder. All the promises that man had made to her felt like a lot of bullshit for her. She shouldn't have been seduced by Zillion's deadly charm because a man like Zillion couldn't possibly really take her seriously. She was definitely no match for the classy and perfect Cassie in the eyes of Zillion, because she was just a bitch! Regardless her footsteps Caroline suddenly bounced back and fell quite hard on the cold white floor. A woman with an arrogant style stared at Caroline silently with her hands on her hips annoyed that Caroline had hit her and made her body hurt, even though she didn't fall to the floor like Caroline. "I— I'm sorry, I didn't mean to." With a sh
Brakk Zillion slammed Caroline's pile of thick books on purpose when he heard Caroline having a conversation with her ex-husband in the living room. The man angrily watched every interaction between Caroline and Aaron, which made him hotter over time, because Caroline did not expel him and instead took him to chat down there. "Did she purposely want to torture me like this?" complained Zillion while lying on his back on Caroline's soft bed. The man, still with only a pair of shorts hanging from his waist, looked bored and wanted to kick Aaron out of his way. He was really impatient with Caroline's way of working which actually provoked him to keep talking to her regardless of the pain she was currently feeling. “Shit! How much longer do I have to endure this torment? " swore Zillion annoyed. He then got up from his lying position and again slammed one of Caroline's thick books to warn Caroline that at this time
"Eat, your face looks pale." Caroline shook her head helplessly as she stirred her food without interest. After crying for a long time in the parking area of her office, Zillion decided to take Caroline to the nearest restaurant so that Caroline could calm down after the unpleasant incident that had just happened. Caroline's car which was badly damaged on the front has been taken care of by one of Zillion's men for repair. But it looks like Zillion is going to buy Caroline a new car because the man immediately called his secretary to send a car to Caroline's home address. Unfortunately all the things Zillion did couldn't bring Caroline back to normal because the woman was still thinking about Aleyna. Since earlier, every time Zillion asked her to talk, Caroline only responded with a small murmur or a throat voice that Zillion so hated. The man really didn't like seeing Caroline in this condition. He would rather look at Caroline who is talka
