Chapter 2: Her New Boss

Lillian’s POV

“Where the hell are you?” My colleague Emilia Winston practically screamed through the phone as I picked up. It was already past nine.

I quickened my pace, rushing to leave the fancy five-star hotel. "How the heck did he afford a room in this posh place? He must be used to rubbing elbows with rich sugar mommas for cash," I grumbled to myself, thinking about the stranger.

"Lillian Sterling, are you even listening to me?" Emilia's voice snapped me back to reality.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm here," I said, trying to focus.

"You were supposed to update the event management about ditching the roses. Remember, our new boss is allergic?"

"Aw, crap," I groaned.

"Lily, what's up with you? Sort out your mess and get your butt to the office pronto. You sound awful on the phone." Emilia hung up before I could even respond.

I rushed home, gobbled down a sandwich, and got ready in a flash. By 10 am, I made it to the reception area of Luxor Corporation, the big shot company owned by the famous Sinclair Family. Working here had been my dream, and today, all my years of hard work finally paid off.

Tonight, there was a fancy banquet to welcome our new boss. The old boss, Reynolds Sinclair, had a heart attack out of the blue and decided to step back, passing the reins to his only heir.

"Lily," my colleague Emilia strolled over. "Goodness, you look wrecked."

"Just a nasty hangover from last night. Max cheated on me and we're done," I grumbled.

"Wait, are you saying you and Max had a wild night and then you caught him cheating?" Emilia looked confused.

"Hell no! He was banging another chick when I walked in on them!" I clenched my jaw.

"Then why are you covered in hickeys and looking like you had a marathon in bed?" Emilia pressed.

"Maybe because I dropped three grand on a prostitute to mend my broken heart and had a crazy night," I shrugged, tossing my handbag on the desk.

"You're kidding, right? A newbie virgin like you can't hire a hooker just for fun!" Emilia scoffed, rolling her eyes.

"Maybe I'll give you his number if you want a massage tonight," I winked, making her laugh as she leaned in. "Just hope he's good at his job."

"You're shameless! Cut it out," I tried to push Emilia away, laughing.

Emilia chuckled as she handed me some papers. "Guess what? The new boss is on his way. Heard he's the only heir to the Sinclair Family. And rumor has it, he's drop-dead gorgeous. Half the office is already swooning over him."

"Well, I might get lucky and see another handsome face today! What a day to be alive," I joked, rolling my eyes at her.

"But wait, here's the juicy part. My friend used to work under him in one of the family's overseas companies. You wanna know what she said about our new boss?"

"Cut the suspense, Em. Just spill it," I said, brushing off her drama.

"Listen up, Lily. She said one word sums him up: Devil! A pure devil hiding behind a handsome face!"

"Wait, seriously?" I choked on the news.

Emilia nodded, giving my shoulder a sympathetic pat before walking away. No doubt she had already spread the news far and wide, judging by the pitying glances I was getting from everyone.

Great, just what I needed. I was the one in charge of tonight's banquet, and if anything went south, I was doomed!

So, I was meeting Mr. Devil himself tonight, huh?

The banquet night in Luxor Corporation,

The banquet hall was adorned with elegant decorations, setting the stage for the evening's festivities. Tables were set with fine linens and sparkling tableware, ready to host the company's most important guests.

Lillian stood in a corner, keeping a close eye on every little detail to ensure her plan went off without a hitch. She was dressed in a modest black high-necked gown, partly to fit the formal vibe of the event, but also to cover up the hickey she got from that stranger.

Damn stranger, ruining her virginity and giving her a taste of wild pleasure she'd missed out on for years. The guy was seriously hot, like straight out of a Greek myth!

Her mind drifted back to last night, and suddenly her cheeks flushed red.

"Hey, you okay? Don't stress too much," her superior, Brandon Clark, appeared beside her.

"Just want to make sure everything goes perfectly tonight," Lillian said with a soft smile, scanning the room once more.

"Lily, they're here. Let's grab our seats," Brandon said, already heading to the front row.

Startled, Lillian snatched her notepad and hurried after Brandon to take her seat.

At last, the moment everyone had been waiting for arrived. Lillian, who had just settled into her seat, was startled by a round of applause. She quickly smoothed down her hair and glanced toward the entrance of the banquet hall.

The doors swung open, and all heads turned to see the new boss stride in confidently. He commanded attention as he made his way to the center of the room.

A man in a sharp black suit and crisp white shirt entered the hall, bathed in spotlight. The room erupted into another applause as he stood before the audience.

Under the glare of the spotlight, a pair of molten gold eyes sparkled as they scanned the crowd.

Wait... What?

Lillian froze in her seat, her heart skipping a beat.

How was this possible?

She rubbed her eyes and looked again. This time, those eyes met hers, and a subtle tension crept into the handsome face before her.

That face was all too familiar to Lillian. She had spent 300 bucks on this man just last night!

Oh God!

She had a one-night stand with her new boss, the famous Ryan Sinclair!
