It was just that she could not speak the truth. She was not going to wound Zayn’s pride in front of any outsiders. For whatever it was worth, Zayn was still her husband in name.

“Pretty good,” Faye answered with a smile.

“You’re lying.” Nathan stopped walking to stare directly at Faye, wanting to peer into her heart through her eyes.

His brazen gaze flustered Faye. She dared not look him in the eye and did not face him.
