Just the thought of Zayn stabbed her right at the fleshiest part of her heart like a steel-cold knife. It hurt her so much, her tears threatened to overflow.

It was enough. Bitter pain mutated into white-hot rage and a need to lash out on the cruel world that enabled it.

It spurred her to move—not out of danger and into safety, but the opposite. Ten seconds passed, and every single man in her sight was all the ground, battered, bruised out of their wits, and losing even the basic strength to stand. She spared them no quarters, and so all of them suffered fractured bones and wounded tendons that could take a few months’ time of bedrest to recover.

She yanked the dagger out of the table with a casual flick of her wrist and made her way towards Trey. Nothing on her delicate features betrayed any emotion except the way her eyes locked onto his own—unfazed, nonchalant, without the spark of recognition that she was looking at a fellow human much like herself.
