“Are you really that happy when you’re with him?” Will asked, his voice laced with a hint of jealousy. “I always see that big smile on your face whenever you’re around him. But you should be careful; history tends to repeat itself. I’m just giving you a friendly warning, my dear childhood friend.”

Cara’s mind raced as she processed Will’s words. “History repeats, sure,” she mused aloud, her voice thoughtful, “but people can change the course of that history depending on the choices they make. And even if the outcome is painful, I’m willing to embrace whatever fate comes my way.” She wasn’t fully sure about the ‘history’ Will was talking about, but his words seemed to weigh heavily on her. Was he implying something about Vince?

Will’s voice softened, and he shifted the topic. “Well, I’m the one who cried at the party,” he said, trying to make her feel the weight of her actions. His words carried a tinge of hurt, causing Cara to feel guilty about abandoning him.

“I’m really sorry, Will,”

The room seemed to freeze for a moment, everyone looking to one another, unsure of what to do or how to respond to the situation."I saw them head into the forest," Will explained hesitantly, his words coming out in a rush. He was trying to make sense of what had happened, but the confusion and guilt in his voice were evident. "I went with them at first, but then I got worried. I thought it would be too dangerous for them to go farther, so I turned back. I didn’t warn them, I just left. Maybe I was being cowardly, but I thought I was being careful. I didn’t want to get anyone hurt."Vince’s Dad shot him an accusing look. "Why didn’t you say anything sooner?!" he snapped, the anger in his voice clear. He was upset, and Will understood why, but the blame felt unfair. It wasn’t as if he hadn’t been worried, but there was nothing he could do now. The moment had passed, and all they could

However, deep down, she knew everything that happened to Vince’s parents was her fault. What pained her more was that Vince never told her the truth. But she realized that he had amnesia about the accident because he hadn’t remembered the past until Will—his cousin had reminded him as far as I know it. Vince’s mind raced as the memories of his past flooded back, like an overwhelming tide. His foster father’s words echoed in his ears: “From now on, I am your dad, and she is your mom. We are your family now. Forget everything bad that happened in your past. Only remember the good memories with your real parents who gave birth to you. It’s the only thing we cannot change for you. You’re only seven years old, but I know you understand what I mean since you’re a smart kid.”At the time, Vince had taken those words to heart, following them blindly, eager to escape the heavy grief that had taken his real parents. His real memories were a constant weight, dragging him deeper into sorrow and guilt, so he buried them, telling himself that starting anew with his adopted family was his only chance at survival. It was easier to pretend the past never existed. But despite the false sense of security his new life gave him, a part of him couldn’t fully let go of the past. There was always that linge

Vince walked toward the corner of the cafeteria, his mind racing. He suddenly remembered the journal he had given Will before leaving for his adoptive parents' home. "You really can't get over Cara, can you?" Will said, a sarcastic grin spreading across his face. He knocked Vince lightly on the shoulder, his tone sharper than before. "I thought you remembered those days. What happened? I thought you wanted to protect her, just like I warned you.""You're right. Cara is my medicine, and she’ll always be my support, even after I heal," Vince replied, clearly firing back at Will’s jabs. "But that’s not the real reason I came here. “Professor, may I speak with you for a moment?” Vince asked, his voice tinged with unease. His mind was a whirlwind of restless thoughts as he walked toward Cara’s closest friend and most trusted confidante. He felt an overwhelming urge to learn more about Cara—specifically, the fears she had kept buried, the ones she had yet to share with him. His need to understand her was growing, and he hoped that her closest friend could provide insight into the things Cara had yet to reveal. “What’s this about? Is this regarding Cara?” she asked, her tone almost knowing. She motioned for him to follow her toward the counseling room, as though she anticipated his question before he even spoke it. Vince, feeling a mix of apprehension and curiosity, followed her quietly, sensing that whatever she would say would leave him with more questions than answers. Once they were seated in the quiet of the room, Vince didn’t waste any time. He asked, his voice steady but filled with urgency, “Can you tell m

"I have something to confess," he said, a playful grin tugging at his lips as he sat across from her. "Mom, I need to tell you something. Vince and I… we like each other. I’m saying this not to ask for your approval, but because I don’t want to lie to you anymore. I’m sorry if you’re disappointed in me, but I’m old enough to make my own decisions. I remembered my past, and Vince and I talked about everything. He understands, even about his parents. I’ve already been punished for my mistakes, and I’ve been forgiven. I don’t want to blame myself for something I wasn’t responsible for, just because I was too young to understand.”She didn’t know if this was the right time to reveal her relationship with Vince to her mom, but her mom’s ears were sharp, and she was too late to stop herself from saying it. Cara’s best friend excused herself and left early, clearly trying to avoid the impending interrogation that she knew would come. She had been helpful, but now Cara was alone with her mother, who was already suspicious of what she had been doing."But I don’t want you to be hurt in the end,

You’re a smart girl, I’m sure you’ll find your way back here easily."Will’s plot was clear, and Vince already knew it.
