Alysha pushed open the door to the military villa, exhaustion weighing heavily on her shoulders. But as she stepped inside, she froze, her eyes widening. Shopping bags—luxurious shopping bags—were scattered across the room, stacked high and gleaming with the names of the most exclusive boutiques in the city. She felt her heart sink, dread pooling in her stomach.

Charles was sitting on the sofa, his expression dark, his hands folded tightly as he stared at the floor. The tension in the air was palpable, and Alysha could feel the accusation even before he looked up.

“Charles… what is all this?” she asked, her voice careful as she tried to read his expression.

He didn’t look at her immediately. When he finally did, his eyes were filled with anger and something else—something like betrayal. “Suegra bodyguards left them here,” he said flatly, his voice low and edged with frustration. “Armin sent them.”

Alysha’s breath caught, and she felt her hands clench at her sides. “What?” she whispere
