Jade’s POV
I suddenly had long, beautiful golden blonde hair when I woke up, and a fair complexion that I could only dream of. There was a line of maids and nannies who catered to each of my needs after I woke up in the morning.
Dad became an indifferent and cold father, just like my two older brothers who acted like two blocks of ice. We are now living in a mansion that I used to dream about when I was a little girl. Everything feels surreal.
There was also that luxurious car that brought me to this private school. Tuition must be sky-high, right? How are we even able to afford this much?
As I was busy pondering, I felt someone sat beside me. There was no need for me to turn my head to know who the person is. I have a strong sense of smell so I remember what kind of perfume a person uses. From his cool fragrance, it was the guy from the car earlier.
I’m not that introvert – I just don’t like to be in the middle of crowded places and socialize with many people. For me, reading books is more fun than talking with people. Mingling with people drains the energy I have in my system.
“Aunt told me that you haven’t eaten breakfast yet, so she asked me to give you this.”
The guy put the lunchbox in front of me.
Aunt? Is that supposed to be my mother? Mom? But I didn't see her earlier...
I turned my head to the lunchbox in front of me. Indeed, mom loves me more than those three monkeys!
I smiled and took the lunch box. I raised my head and looked up at the boy – his somber amber eyes were staring back at me. I was surprised for a moment that I stuttered.
"... Thank you... for giving me this..."
He nodded his head and sat down beside me.
Eh, what was his name again? Jean Pierre Morris? Kinda familiar. Where have I seen that?
"Jean, can I ask a question?"
"You already are."
"You don't have to be sarcastic."
"Ask me."
This guy in front of me… he feels familiar, but looking at his face, I haven’t met someone as good-looking as him.
“Can you tell me what kind of relationship we have?”
“You’re really asking me that question?”
“Yeah. Is something wrong?”
“Are you asking me because you don’t know, or are you asking because you suddenly became dumb?”
I quit. I never would have thought that a bookworm wannabe like him could say many words. I thought he was the silent type. Guess I was wrong.
“We’ve known each other for more than two decades, and you’re asking me that dumb question? What’s going on inside that head of yours, Heather?”
“Heather? Who is Heather?”
“...”
Jean stared at me before lightly flicking my forehead with his index finger. I let out an ‘aww’ and caressed my forehead. Why did he have to hit me so hard?
“Hey, how could you do this to me?”
“I’m trying to wake up your sleeping common sense.”
“Hah! Is this how a gentleman should treat a lady?”
“Ask yourself, Heather. Are you even a lady?”
“You…!”
I don’t know why, but this guy is making me angrier. Besides my two older brothers who consecutively ignored me this morning, I now declare that I have a personal grudge towards him!
I was going to say another thing when I heard the sound of the stick being hit on the table. I rolled my eyes at him as I straightened my back and sat upright. I didn’t even know how I did that, but my body moved on its own.
I saw a woman in front who appeared to be our teacher, and standing beside her was a girl with hair as blonde as mine. It looks like we’re going to be in the same class, which is just nice. Haha.
“Everyone, she will be your new classmate. Introduce yourself.”
“Hello, everyone! I am Rosine Vista and I hope that we will get along together as classmates and friends!”
She then bowed her head in full ninety-degree. Her eyes were shaped like a crescent when she smiled, flashing her teeth. She is quite energetic.I say, she’s pretty but not as beautiful as me.
'Where have I heard that name? I swear I knew that name.'
Some things start to bother me. First, my name, which happened to be Heather Jade Aczen, then the guy sitting beside me, Jean Pierre Morris. Lastly, the name of the girl in front, Rosine Vista. This is just crazy. To think that these names were the same as the characters of the book I was reading before I fell asleep. Perhaps….
No, that would be utterly impossible! How in the world can I travel inside a book and be a character, right? That’s just scientifically impossible!
Moreover, from the very first time I saw Rosine, I felt a dislike that couldn’t be explained in words. You know, that feeling that you just dislike a person even though you’ve never met each other before. And perhaps, they just had the same name. After all, people could have the same name.
“Where should you sit… ah, there, behind Morris. You can take that seat.”
“Thank you, Teacher!”
Behind Morris?
‘Heh, it just so happened that there was a vacant seat behind us and she was to sit there. What are the odds, right?’
The way she introduced herself was downright childish; I kept feeling annoyed by it for some reason. Or maybe it was this body’s reaction and not mine. Could it be that there is a connection between these two? I’ll have to find out.
Rosine walked towards our direction and directly sat down behind Jean. When our eyes met, I noticed how her eyes slightly wavered so she flashed an awkward smile at me. She must have been thinking of when she fell earlier and realized how embarrassing it was to ask someone why they pushed you, when in reality, you tripped by yourself. How funny.
'I could see where this is going.’
Rosine avoided my eyes when I looked at her; instead, she turned her head toward Jean, who hadn’t even glanced her way.
"Hi Jean! I hope we get along."
Silence.
Was she expecting something? I waited to see if Jean would give some kind of reaction, but there was nothing – utter silence.
I felt bored and didn’t look at her anymore, turning my attention in front. Whatever this world is, I will find out about it sooner or later. First, let’s study and learn.
***
I learned that it was only the first semester of our academic year and that is why it was possible for students to transfer schools taking the same major. I am a graduating student, and so is Rosine. Just like in my world, you can transfer schools as long as you took all the competencies needed in that major. It would also be great if you have passing grades so it wouldn’t become a problem later. This frequently happened in my school.
Reasons why students transfer varied. Some transfer because of their family problems, or others, such as experiencing bullying. Whatever the case, Rosine had a reason for herself as to why she changed schools.
It wasn’t because she had broken family or experienced any bullying. She came from a poor family, and that was why she worked hard to get a scholarship from a school like this one. If she just enrolled here without a scholarship, it would be impossible for her given her background. She needed a valid cause to study here, and that is scholarship.
I don’t know why, but I feel like everything was strange. I just had this ominous feeling that my life in this world wouldn’t turn out that well.
Jade’s POV After the morning class, it was finally time for lunch. Kroook. Oh, I’m feeling so hungry. Studying is tiring to the body and mind. After all, studying is really not my field of expertise, both in this world and in my world. I realized that I am in a different world, and that is why I am unfamiliar with everybody around me. What I loved about this body is that she’s naturally intelligent. I don’t even need to look at the questions and think of the answer. Although I am now in this body, my hands moved on its own as if it had its own mind. That is to say, I don’t need to review for tests and I still can pass them with flying colors. I stretched my neck and arms, feeling the stiffness that had set in from sitting for half a day. “You haven’t eaten the food Aunt told me to give you.” I forgot that someone was beside me. Then that means, I won’t be eating with the other students in the cafeteria. Ah, the peace that money brings! All the other students inside went to
『 "I like Morris…" "No matter what I do, why wouldn't you look at me even once?" "I should be gone. Goodbye…"』 Jade’s POV I was already lying on a soft bed when I woke up. Looking at the ceiling and the surrounding with the blinding pink, this must be my room in the mansion. 'Room…?' I looked around just in time to see the door opening. I hurriedly closed my eyes. I heard rushed footsteps entering my room. Not just one pair of feet were walking inside. Guessing by its sound, there must be a few people who entered my room. I heard someone moving next to me and feeling the pulse on my wrist. I couldn’t see what was happening or who this person was, but it must be a doctor. After that, the person put my hands inside the blanket again. "Madam, she's already fine. I’ve already checked her condition, and there was nothing wrong.” “Then why did my daughter faint? You’re still calling yourself a doctor?” When I heard that certain voice, I felt relieved at once. It was because
Chapter 5: An AdonisJade’s POVIt was silent as we walked down the spiral stairs heading to the dining room. Only the sound of our footsteps could be heard in the long corridor. Some servants that we passed by would absentmindedly greet us. They were enamored by the beauty beside me. “Our young lady is really perfect for young master Jean!”“They are a match made in heaven!”“Even their eyes have chemistry with each other.”“Yes, we can totally see that.”Their murmurs were rather loud that I looked down in embarrassment. It’s not that I don’t think Heather is beautiful, but saying those things without any reservations is making me embarrassed. I still couldn’t wrap my head about this world, so there is this thought that Jean and Rosine looked really good together. ‘She would be perfect had it not been for her schemes.’ Thinking like that, I suddenly felt bad for this beautiful human beside me. I just couldn’t imagine how profound his love for Rosine was to be duped so badly. I th
Chapter 6: FamilyJade’s POVIn the morning, I prepared my things to go to school. I haven’t gotten accustomed to the maids running around and helping me with every trivial thing. For a not-so-wealthy family like us in the past, having a warm bath and three meals a day was already a blessing. Unlike now, I have everything I could only wish for. I am basically living my dream life. Thinking of it now, it wasn't so bad at all. I would have felt so lonely if I transmigrated to this world without being able to see and be with my family like this. I, on the other hand, is with the family I love with all my heart. Even though I was the only one who could remember all those times, it’s fine as long as they are with me. I sound cringy, but that’s alright. “Milady, they are waiting for you in the dining room.” “Okay. Thank you for helping me with my hair, Anne.” “It’s what I should do, milady.” I flashed her a smile and went down to the dining room. This would be my first time eating wit
Chapter 7: Romantic... Or Nahh? Jade’s POVAs I stared at her wide eyed, she kept avoiding my gaze as if she's hiding something.'What could it be?'I urged her to speak. I am also curious about what it was. Not even 24 hours had passed and something happened. What else could it be other than the original female lead stirring trouble? Of course, there is something. “They said that Miss Heather is… Miss Heather, I don’t know if I should tell you this….” “You kept beating around the bush, you know that?” “I-I'm sorry M-ms. Heather! The truth is… someone said you slept with Jean yesterday. T-that's all…""You mean, a rumor?""… Yes."I furrowed my eyebrows. This is clearly nonsense and very… ridiculous. "Even if we slept together, isn't it just between us two? And what's wrong with it? We're engaged. We will marry each other in the future anyway.""Ms. Heather is r-right.""Of course I'm right."I looked straight at her eyes, and she seemed scared of me. Having a villain face sometim
Chapter 8: Up the Second FloorJade’s POVIt was so awkward between the two leads, and I could clearly feel it as a side character. It was suffocating. I did not talk with them, and they didn’t talk to me as well. I was about to go to the canteen when lunch came. It was said that there was a special seat reserved for me there. Of course, it is with Jean. ‘He’s really the male lead – special treatment just for him.’ He’s no joke. A top student with top looks, coming from the wealthiest family, and is engaged to the most beautiful woman, Heather Jade Aczen! As I stood up, Jean’s voice rang behind me. “Let’s go together.”“I thought you wouldn’t eat.”He looked at me, “Do you think I want to stay hungry?”“Oh. Okay?”He was still in a foul mood. He should go with Rosine. It would be interesting to watch. I nodded my head as I waited for him at the door. As I watched him walk towards me, there was another set of footsteps following behind. 'Rosine.'I admire her – very desperate. I a
Chapter 9: Rumors - BEGONE!Jade’s POVI knew it – the reason why Rosine asked to see Jean under the willow tree.'How can she think of such a romantic place?' I should really knock the author some sense. Willow trees are said to symbolize sadness and stability. ‘Did Rosine pick that location to implicitly tell Jean that she was sad about the circulating rumors? And at the same time, hope to have a stable friendship with him?’I see. She’s quite good at calculating. As an innocent extra and bystander, I don’t know anything about it at all. Rosine was rather a calculating woman while still acting on an innocent façade. If that was 'Heather' from the original, she can never win against her.To become a calculative person, you need to count your steps forward, take twice backwards when you feel as if something might go awry if the plan failed. It’s just a matter of going forward and stepping back in case something goes wrong. That was what Rosine was doing. In order to achieve what sh
Chapter 10: The Gold Day24th, they call it 'The Gold Day'.As its name implies, all social elites are invited to this very luxurious ball. Everyone anticipated it every month. There will be countless showcase of different rare gems, stones or painting with sky-high prices. It's simply like a day where things as expensive as gold and rubies were sold.Like an alternate party for auction houses. The only difference is that you can either buy it using 'donate' or 'flaunt your wealth'. For most of the bureaucrats here, they will do the latter. If someone attending is an aspiring politician, then he will prefer to do the former. Everyone will see him as a 'charitable' person. It's also a party where you gain connections.Such connection will start with them looking for suitable partners for their sons and daughters. As for me, I already have Jean so I won't hav
Chapter 72: Brother and sister ∘₊✧──────✧₊∘ It has been two days since Heather went out. There was no news about the Aczen family, and even the main house was blocked from any entry. For the past two days, many people wanted to talk to the head of the Aczen family, and even to the two elder sons. But the head only sent out a message that he would be out of touch for a week. No one knew what was happening. This was the first time it happened. After all, Mr. Aczen was known to be a workaholic. Inside his room, Jean was sorting his files as Morris' eldest son. Because his sister Priyaa didn't want to be involved in their family business, he had no choice but to do it himself. His parents were also expecting much from him. ‘The expedition test will be a month from now.’ The thought of having their expedition test as students made Jean a lot happier. It was said that the last test would be held at the forest on the border of the country. Just thinking about it is waking up all t
Chapter 71: What is this feeling? “So you mean to say, I have… rose power-wielding power? Me?” I was confused and pointed at myself. Dad just nodded his head with a worried expression on his face. If I have rose power-wielding, then shouldn’t they be happy? “Don’t you understand? Our family is in a riskier position. Not only are we hiding the fact you have already awakened, but the fact that you have two malignant powers inside your body.” There was a slight annoyance when Keab spoke. He took a sharp exhale before calming down and sat back down. When he spoke just now, he stood up as if he wanted to prove his point. They already told me the same thing last time. I put it on the back of my head, thinking nothing could happen more. Now that not only I have awakened, I even had two of the powers. As they said, my teleportation and rose-wielding power were dominant inside my body. That means I can use them both as I please without limitations. But that also means I have to be very
Chapter 70: Twice When I open my eyes again, I was back in my room. My body felt weak all over, but it wasn’t to the extent that I am crippled. It was as if I was hit by something very hard on my head. When mom saw that I opened my eyes, she rushed beside me and held my hand tightly. She was once again crying. “How many times would you faint and scare us like this….”“Mom… I’m fine now. You can stop crying.”“This was never the first time you had fainted! Ever since you met that lowly girl who dared to seduce your cousin, this happened to you once in a while. This has been the fourth time already!”“Calm down first.”Dad tapped mom’s shoulder and soothed her to calm down. I can see the gentleness in his eyes despite his cold expression. He also looked exhausted. Chlofloris told me that I am asleep for two days already. I’m sure they were all worried about me. But what is this body! Always fainting at the smallest thing! I bit my lip at the scene in front of me. Both mom and dad l
Chapter 69: Chlofloris“Hmm… not really. Dying is unnecessary. Well, unless you want to die to become this world’s hero, I won’t stop you.”“Huh…?”I was still in a daze. It’s like she can read what I was saying in my mind.“Have anyone told you? Anyone from the Aczen family – no, your mother’s family to be exact – is connected to me in some way? Maybe even now, your mother can sense that I am awake. After all, she is a powerful rose wielder.”“What do you mean…?”“Are you stup
Chapter 68: A Goddess, a Fairy - Who are you? When I opened my eyes, I was lying on the floor. It was neither ice cold nor blazing hot. If anything, the temperature was at its best and was even soothing my body. It was like I was under the water of the falls, where the water was massaging my sore muscles. When I looked around, I realized I was still in that room, but it now has some colors, though it was so light that it was blinding my eyes. I can make out flowers around me, but I’m sure they are small roses.I shook my head as I suddenly felt dizzy. The pain on my wrist was gone now, but the seal on my wrist was emitting more light than it ever did when I first got it.‘Why do I alway
Chapter 67: Here in this space‘Hmm… someone’s holding my hand… it’s cold….’I was surrounded by darkness when I came back to my senses. It wasn’t like this didn’t happen to me before. Oftentimes, I would get a what you call ‘spoiler’ from the novel. Other than that, I frequently met the original Heather whenever I fainted. This time however, there was only darkness surrounding me. I don’t know if I fainted but I sure I did. The questioning factor of that was why did I faint in the first place. If I think about it, I didn’t do anything to get over fatigued enough to faint. Hiking doesn’t require that much stamina, moreover, I had a lot of rest afterwards. So, why?
Chapter 66: Two Powers ∘₊✧──────✧₊∘ ‘Haa, this is really tiring….’ I tried using my powers again after a long time of not using it. Instead of the feeling that I am finally progressing, I felt more exhausted than ever. ‘Was it because I went out with Jean earlier?’ Early in the morning, Jean came and pulled me out of bed to go with him hiking. Seriously, I was sleeping so fine earlier, and he had just barged in and woke me up. I was so angry at him that I scolded him from the time we went out of our mansion to the hiking area until we got back again. He was just laughing at
Chapter 65: Are you sure?“… You….”Words won’t get out of her mouth while she is frozen in place. It was a very short moment, but it felt like her world stopped spinning and all she could see was his glowing red eyes.It was a very brief moment and yet, what she had seen was clear. She even saw how a dangerous glint flashed his red eyes. Cold shivers ran down her back. She stared at Mir’s back. His hair was short and a luminous black, while his face was contoured with his sharp jaw and a pointed nose from his side view. If he tilted his head a little more, she would be able to see his face under his hood.
Chapter 64: Another dayThat night, Rosine couldn’t sleep peacefully. The anger she had felt rendered her sleepless. What more, the fact that Mir didn’t visit her for three days already was irking her. The reason was that she was losing her mind and didn’t know what to do.It was only at dawn that her eyelids feel heavy and she tried to sleep. At that moment when she almost succumbed into darkness, a pair of warm arms engulfed her into a tight hug.The warmth was familiar, so she let herself sleep, along with his sweet voice coaxing her to sleep.∘₊✧──────✧
