Jesse's P.O.V.

"Are you just as strong as your brothers?" Lana asked me, whispering to me as she looked at my brother's on the last row above us in class.

"We are each stronger than one another in one way or another, but we're pretty equal overall." I told her, remembering the countless hours of training we’d do everyday.

Dad even gave me tips and tricks that the others didn't have. They have a year more of training than me, given their age, but dad made sure I was on the same level as them.

"That's awesome. My shadows are so slow, and probably not the strongest, so I'm really excited to learn. I wonder if I could be as strong as you guys by the end of the semester." She smiled Excitedly. I laughed in her face at that last statement.

"It'll take years of 3 hour daily sessions of training to get to where we are now, but by the time you reach this strength we'll be stronger. Sorry Lana, but there's no catching up. The difference is already too vast."

It sounds harsh, I know, but it's the damn truth. I won't inflate her ego or her senseless hope. She can hate me if she wants. What I won't do is make light of the amount of work that went into becoming this strong.

"Well damn, Jess, you could have lied." She pouted, slouching in her chair.

"That wasn't very nice, babe." Damon leaned in to whisper in my ear.

"It's the truth." I whispered back.

He gave me that half smirk, letting me know he secretly liked it when I was a bit of a bi.tch. His clear blue eyes and silver streaked hair were what enticed me to him to begin with. With eyes like that, I knew he'd have to have a strong shadow. The lighter the eyes, the stronger the shadow. I got my dad's light green ones, while Augustus has his dad, Kiran’s, gold and Ares has mom's lilac ones.

Augustus is the only one of us to get an ancient shadow though. Ares got an executive shadow, with the ability to freeze time. It pairs well with his seer abilities. I got an executive shadow as well. My shadow, Luz, can bend light, which makes it able to clone me, make me invisible, cast mirages or illusions, and so forth. Then you add the fact that I am fused with a small part of mom's shadow and dad's shadow, giving me a small amount of my dad's healing ability, and mom's ability to control other's shadows, making me a damn powerhouse.

Damon had a square jaw that ticked when he was angered. I loved seeing it twitch though. His eyes were cold and dangerous, which thrilled me more than anything. I've got a thing for the bad boys. He's a year older, but we keep our relationship a secret. Between Augustus and my dad, I'd never be alone with Damon if they knew.

"Today I'll be assessing you sorry lot, the same way I was assessed. Meet me in the field." May smiled at us with a wicked gleam in her eyes, as she sank into her shadow.

I changed the scenery around us, traveling the shadow door through me instead of myself through it. The travel is faster and smoother this way. Augustus, Ares and I were the first ones to arrive followed by May and then the other students.

"Leaving me behind, babe? That's cold." Damon whispered into my ear again. His chin tickled my neck, causing my hair to stand and goosebumps to erupt. Augustus narrowed his eyes at Damon, great now he's on his radar.

"I didn't realize you needed a piggyback, thought you could handle yourself." I retorted, causing him to smile mischievously at me. He's coming up with my punishments for tonight already. I can see it in his eyes, causing a wave of excitement to roll through me.

"You'll see how well I can handle myself tonight." He promised, and I had to bite my cheek to keep from saying anything else. I don't need to be horny as shi.t before this assessment of May's. She's going to bracket us off in front of everyone.

"We'll start with the ones I know to be strong and work down. So Augustus you'll spar Ares, and Jesse you will spar with me. From there the winner will face the lower class. I want to see how long you Watts can last." She seemed to be enjoying herself at our expense. I'll remember this later, maybe I'll have fun at her son's expense if she keeps this shi.t up.

"Sounds good." I told her, uncrossing my arms and taking my stance. The stance mom engraved into me the moment I turned 5.

"See her stance? Memorize it children, it's the best stance to have while fighting. Your shadows won't always be able to protect you so your body needs to be ready for an attack as well." May explained to them all, using me as a model.

Battle commenced, but May didn't let me beat her. She stopped our fight before I could. She still claimed me the winner though. Her excuse was that she didn't want me to tire with her, but I feel like it's more because she doesn't want to lose in front of her students.

Augustus and Ares almost knocked each other out at the same time, but May stopped them before that. She called it a draw, saying they're too evenly matched. Neither of them liked that. They wanted to keep going till they had a victor.

Training went on like that. Augustus beat Damon with such ease, infuriating him to no end. Damon was a sore loser, having his ego bruised after losing so quickly. I was glad that Ares didn't go against Damon, or he might have seen a future where we were kissing or worse…fu.cking.

Of course no one beat us, but for the shadows, was I dead tired. My muscles will be screaming later, and I know it won't matter to Damon. He'll fu.ck me just as hard if not harder when he figures out I'm sore.

"Go ice those muscles. I'll get you all sorted by the end of the semester. Perhaps some of you will be lucky enough to create a strong enough shadow shield to stay alive should you ever need to fight for your life." May almost laughed as she was swallowed by her shadow. She traveled the slow way, not having the sense to travel the way we did.

Shadows, this semester is going to be long.

Ares' P.O.V.I knew she would drive us hard, but I didn't foresee just how sore I'd be after. May has always been a bit of a sadistic teacher. I think she enjoyed seeing people struggle and work hard to reach their potential. She's a good person though, you could ask anyone and they'd tell you how sweet and capable she was. I pulled my phone out, feeling it buzz in my pocket. Nova had texted. It's not really like her to text so early in the day. Nova: We need to talk about the slut you call a brother. Me: What'd he do now?Nova: My roommate! Bring him here.Nova was pissed. There was always one rule that we had imposed on Augustus' sleeping habits. Never with our close friends, or with our roommates. Seems he was running out of new people to fu.ck if he was tempted enough to break the rule. "Sorry, you've been summoned." I told him, grabbing him and sending us to Nova. I looked around, noticing she was in the sanctioned fighting arena. Anytime you have a problem with someone on c

Nova's P.O.V. Fu.ck him! I was still so upset, and oddly very hurt. I let Ryoko take over and fly us around campus, taking us to the siren side of the academy. She rushed us towards the water, shifting with me as we dove down from the sky into the water. The shift was seamless, from my dragon to my siren. It was as easy as taking a deep breath. I swam down to the bottom of the lake where I knew I'd find Emanuel. Emanuel was a sea witch I'd met last school year. It was the first year the school had opened and everyone was so cliquey, still kind of are. I found Emanuel alone at the bottom of the lake when I was exploring. Sea witches aren't exactly the most liked creatures, but he was different. He was kind and caring despite the hate he received. He was a year younger than me, a sophomore this year. "Hey, what brings you down here?" He smiled at me when he saw me. His large purple fin had grown since last year. His teeth were sharper and his muscles larger. "Just needed to see a f

Augustus' P.O.V.I sat in the shadow realm trying to calm my anger. I can't believe she humiliated me like that in front of everyone during the first week, just because I slept with her roommate. She's blowing it way out of proportion. That chick, although hot, was not worth all this. 'Think less with your d*ck.' Sombra laughed at me. 'Be less of a d*ck.' I retorted. 'You'll be fine, just be a man and go talk to her.' Sombra was right as usual. I pulled her shadow door forward watching her slip a shirt over head. She's too damn beautiful to be shifting into her siren that causes her to lose her clothes. Some as.shole is going to watch her like a sick perv."Sorry, you had said you were done." Ares apparently is that sick perv today. I felt my blood boil with Bane's phoenix fire inside me."It's fine. I was done. It's just a bra Arie, don't freak out on me." She shoved his shoulder lightly. Is she flirting with him?"I'm not freaking out. I just don't want to disrespect you, Nova."

He nibbled at my earlobe. His hand squeezed at my neck lightly, applying just the smallest amount for pressure. His other hand was sliding under my bra now, reaching for my n*pple. He didn't waste time, shoving me between these buildings, out of nowhere, and pinning me against the wall. He said it was time for my punishment. I felt the thrill through my body, arousing me. He kissed me furiously, leaving my lips puffy and bruised, almost. He bit at my lip, but never enough to draw blood. "You ready for your punishment?" He looked me dead in the eyes. I nodded and he squeezed harder around my neck. "Use your words." "Yes." I moaned. He gave me that wicked smirk he gets when he's about to be a good kind of rough with me. I felt the excitement pool in my stomach, leaking out between my thighs. He turned me a

We were talking about Augustus, reminiscing on the times we were kids. Our next classes start soon. She and August have general fire training together, while I'm in the seer building with grandma Ramona."You've done plenty. Thank you, Arie." She smiled at me. She wrapped her arms around my neck, hugging me tightly. Nova was a very affectionate friend, always touching and hugging when she could. Even though she's done it all our lives, it still surprises me when she shows me random affection. "I'll see you later for lunch." I told her, knowing it for a fact. She'll be with the sea witch. "See you then." She waved as I traveled through the shadows to the seer building. I am literally the only shadow weaver that goes to the small seer building. He has a way of getting me to talk things through, seeing them in a new light. I don't know how he does it, but I do feel better after talking with him…after admitting how I feel about Augustus. "Hey, can we talk?" Augustus' voice came from beside me. He shadow weaved into the chair to the right of me."About what?" I made sure to sound irritated, and he sighed, slouching back in his chair. "You're so difficult. Look, I know I messed up, okay?" "Is that your way of apologizing? Because it's seriously lacking." I snarked. "See, difficult." He shook his head. "I don't know if you know this, Auggie, but in order to apologize you actually have to say I'm sorry." I rolled my eyes at him. "How about I say I fu.cked up?" He asked, looking at me with pleading eyes. I could see the worry in them. He was worried about us, about

We cannot have Nova. We can never mess that up. Nova is the only real friend I have, aside from Andy. So I'll make my way to the redhead beauty in the distance to distract myself."Hey gorgeous, mind if I take your hand?" I asked her. She turned to look at me. Andy's P.O.V.5 months have passed now and Elara has grown right before our eyes at a very rapid rate. She now looks to be 4 rather than just 5 months. We knew it would happen from Percy's warning, but it was still alarming to see. She was breathtakingly beautiful, with her still white hair that curled softly around her. She had her mother's eyes which at first were hard to look into without remembering her. Now, all I see when I look at them is Elara. That same bright-moon silver dawned her eyes shimmering against her pale skin. Her rosy lips and crimson stained cheeks contrasted well with her all white appearance. "Mommy, I'm bored," she complained, coming to take a seat on my lap. "I know sweetheart, but I have to finish tending to these plants for my final, and daddy's in class right now, taking one of his finals. Would you like to help me? I can show you how to grow a plant with magic," I offered her with a smile. "Okay, Mommy!" She jumped excitedly, looking all kinds of ador

Ares’ P.O.V.Elara stirred in my arms as she situated herself. My heart felt full with her in my arms. In a matter of seconds this child had me wrapped around her finger. She is my world, my heart, my everything. She and Andy take priority over everything in my life. I would kill for them. I would die for them. Seeing dad was an unexpected gift that both helped and eased my worries. I guess now it's time to tell mom and my other dad's. I don't know how they'll take it. Mom lost it when she found out what happened to me. I am worried how she'll react to Elara. I better do it now while I have the gale to do it. "I'm going to mom's, come with me?" I turned, asking them all. "You sure?" Auggie stepped forward, seeming concerned. "It's now or never. Besides, the longer I wait the more hurt she'll be." I looked into the future, seeing mom outside training. If I wait too long she'll be hurt that I didn't tell her. "Okay, then. Let's go." Jesse nodded. "This will probably be better if it

Percy’s P.O.V. My dear son, I am so sorry this has happened to you. You finally lifted the curse I could not, yet here you stood with a baby in your arms. Much too young to raise a child, yet alone one with such great responsibility. They granted me one more visit, and I saved it for this day in case this future came to pass. I had hoped not, but he chose correctly, and I couldn’t be more proud. He didn’t think selfishly. He let his child be born, even though it was one he did not consent to. I made Ares much in the same way that he conceived his daughter. I can’t exactly say anything about that. None of it was the baby’s fault, anyway. I watched Ares as he looked on to that child, like she was his everything. It was a sad sight to see, knowing that his future would be just as hard as his past, if not more difficult, despite the curse being lifted. I couldn’t help the sadness that filled my heart. This was not the future I wanted for him, it was not the one I hoped for. I know he wi

Augustus' P.O.V. Ares traveled us all back to the center of the maze, where just an hour before we had been having fun. That was the longest and most intense hour of my life. I'm not sure what happened those last few minutes of the battle. When things got dark we leaned into each other, and it unlocked something inside of Ares that we were all able to tap into. The feeling still lingered inside me, strengthening me with power and light. I scanned the area for Nova, but couldn't see her anywhere. She must have sensed me as a water portal opened before us, and Nova jumped out with Manny close behind. "I'm sorry I couldn't teleport you all out. I was only able to get Nova because we're mated. The dark forest hates relinquishing its prey," Manny explained with a guilty expression. "Thank you for rescuing her," I said, staring at Nova like she was my salvation. She's the only reason I live and breathe. She ran towards me, wrapping her arms around my neck. She sobbed into my chest, let

Jesse's P.O.V. With the sword in its hand, the demon lunged forward towards Nova. It clawed at her, piercing her skin right over her thigh as she retreated too slowly. The demon tossed the sword, having it land on the ground, looking like an Excalibur sticking out of the earth. It shined mockingly from 20 feet away. It would have done us well if Nova could have had the chance to use it. "Jesse, can you do it?" Liam asked, already knowing that I couldn't, but desperately wanting me to. I shook my head no, hanging it in disappointment for a brief second. "Then know that I love you, forever into all eternity." He shifted into King before me, biting down onto the demon's head, only to be met with a loud yelp of pain. The demon's blood was burning his mouth as if he had taken a bite of hot magma. Liam let go of the demon instantly, using his paws to slash at it instead. He shook his head, trying to shake off the pain from his mouth. The heat from the demon someone felt to increase. I

Nova’s P.O.V. The ghoul lunged, trying to bite a chunk of flesh off. I burned it away before me, turning it into a charred black lump. The smell of charred flesh permeated the air, and I felt my stomach turn in disgust. They already smelled bad, but it seemed burning them only made the stench worse. Auggie clasped my hand tightly as his fire coursed through me and combined with my own. Our fire joined when we became mated. There was no delay, no fight for control. It was natural, like an extension of myself. I blasted the ghouls as they approached, while Auggie tossed them with his shadows. My primary concern was the demon that stood at the edge of the woods. It seemed to watch, waiting for something, but I'm not sure what. I heard the baby cry in the cabin, earning not only the attention of some ghouls, but that of the demon as well. Ares seemed to pale as his eyes flashed and his face contorted with worry. Andy was in danger. I could tell by the change in his demeanor. He told L

Andy's P.O.V. My worst nightmare played before me. Ares had been wrapped in dark smoke and pulled away from us before my eyes. I tried to reach for him, but found myself grabbing air. He was gone. I spun around seeing the same horrified expression on everyone's face. "We have to go!" I snapped everyone out of their shock. "I can travel us there now. I've been practicing with Umbra and we can use the darkness better," Jesse said, answering the question of how we would get there without anyone having to ask. "Then let's go," Auggie said, looking the most determined I had ever seen him. I felt the beast inside me stir as anger coursed through me. She could be hurting him this very instant. I need to save the love of my life before she does irreversible damage. I felt the familiar cold of shadow traveling wrap itself around me as the settings set around us. Jesse had managed to pull us through Ares' shadow door. There was no stumbling or searching through the woods for him this time.

Ares' P.O.V. Andy's idea for her Christmas pity party was brilliant. I could feel the atmosphere changing around us, allowing for some laughter and joy to enter each of us. I know everyone is nervous and worried for me a lot. Hell, I'm scared, but with Andy by my side and Dad's words of encouragement, I think I can do this. I guess we'll see when she calls on me. I wonder though, when she calls me, will she call only me? Last time it was an accident that everyone came with me. I doubt she'd call them again, since they ruined her plans for me. I could see it in her eyes that night. She wasn't done with me. If she would have had her way, she would have raped me all night. She was determined to have a child, and for some reason she was determined to have that child with me. What if when she calls me again, she tries the same thing? The thought made my blood run cold and my body shiver. Andy noticed as she leaned in beside me, providing me with warmth only he touch brings me. She chas

Augustus’ P.O.V. Christmas was approaching us sooner than we would have liked. Instead of enjoying the holiday season we had all been on pins and needles, just waiting for the day we would face that crazy dark witch again. Ares trains every day with Andy by his side. Nova and I have been focusing on our fire training to use during battle, while she and Manny have been training on her control over her sea witch magic. We don’t want her to be overtaken again. She had delved into the darkness the week she had turned away from me. It had almost permanently stained her soul, but with the help of Andy they were able to banish that darkness. Ares has been more on edge than usual. I know that he isn’t the only one. Jesse and I have been talking and practicing. We’ve been trying to figure out what Percy meant when he spoke about us holding one another when things get dark. We aren’t the most poetic bunch, so we didn’t come up with much. It didn’t help that Jesse told me about the prophecy sh
