“Ok, where is she?” Joana asked without reservation, she hoped that Sandra wouldn’t say what she thought she would. She wanted to read her thoughts to find out, but before she did, Sandra had already begun to speak.
“Grandma Jen is dead Joana, she died a few months ago. She had lost faith that you were still alive, and couldn’t bear the thought of you being dead. Everyone told her to hold on and at least wait for them to find your body. She tried to, but I guess the loneliness and depression was eating her up and she couldn’t bear it anymore. She was found dead in her house three days after she was last seen. Her one regret she had always mentioned was allowing a stranger take you away from her.”After Sandra finished, she watched as a fresh wave of tears began to run down Joana’s cheeks. It hurt her to see her friend like that, and she didn’t even know if Joana was going to be able to hear the news about Andrew after t“Are you sure you want to do this?” Sandra asked her friend. She and Joana now stood in front of Andrew’s house. He had moved out of his parents’ right after he got married to one of Joana’s rivals in high school, Janet.Joana stood on the road opposite where the house stood. She remembered when this house still had the “FOR SALE” sign in front of it, Joana and Andrew always passed the front of this house on the way to and back from school. They both fell in love with the house and planned on buying it right after they got married. Joana always wondered where Andrew would get the money, but if there was anything she loved about Andrew, it was that when he wanted something, he always made sure he got it no matter what. He had gotten this house, but not to live with her in it, he had gotten it to live with Janet. She had only been gone a year, how easy was it for him to move on so quickly?Sandra had answered that q
She had had enough of this; she still had some things to take care of before she left this place. She couldn’t keep standing there and listen to the flimsy excuses Andrew was giving her. It was time to do the right thing, something she ought to have done long ago; be true to her feelings. She knew the person she had loved since the first day she set her eyes on him, but because of this bastard standing in front of her who clearly didn’t deserve her, she pushed him away. She pushed away Derick and now because of Andrew, he probably wasn’t going to speak to her again. She had never felt this stupid in her life.Andrew getting married to someone else was the last thing she expected to happen, but like Dana had said, things happen in life that you can’t control. She didn’t wait for Andrew to finish speaking before she walked out on him. He might have been able to humiliate her, but she would never let him see her tears, ever. She went
“So, where are you going to spend the night?” Sandra asked as they were leaving the cemetery.“Well, I have to return.”“Return where?”“Back to where I came from.”“You’re going back? You didn’t even tell me where you went in this first place Joana, I’ve told you everything you needed to know about grandma Jen and Andrew, now please tell me where you went to.”“You won’t understand, Sandra.”“Are you really my friend? If you were my friend then you’d tell me.”“Sandra, I’m sorry.”Sandra wasn’t moved by her apology, and Joana knew that at this point, there was only one thing left to do.Joana walked over to where Sandra stood and then looked into her eyes and wiped out the memory of her being here. She knew that Sandra was the only person who would care enough about reporting her appearance
Joana waited for him in the center for hours to see and hope if he would come down, or at least, if she could see any sign of him. But no, after waiting for so long, it was now time to accept the truth. Derick was gone forever, and it was all because of her. She got up and began to leave, of all the bad news she had been hearing since yesterday, this turned out to be the worst, and the one that hurt her the most. She held her hand to her heart and mourned him for a few minutes.“Goodbye Derick, I’m sorry for what I did, and I love you,” she said before returning to the castle. She met Dana along with the others in the study, they were all waiting for her. She hoped that Derick might have returned here, maybe might have changed his mind and come back home instead, but she knew it was just wishful thinking.“Did you find him?” Dana asked. She knew the answer already but still hoped it wouldn’t be true.&nbs
Marylin’s POV…I never thought vampires and other mystical creatures existed, until I became one myself. I was killed after a rampage in the tavern where I worked, one of the stupid drunken men, Jack, who was one of our regular customers, started a shooting spree after gunning down a man he had lost a bet to.After seeing that bullet in my chest, I dropped to the ground and closed my eyes, thinking that was the last I would see of this world, I bled profusely, feeling the impactful pain from the bullet. It was time to leave this world, all I could see was a dark space. I thought I had left until I opened my eyes again. Now, I wasn’t in a hospital, or any other place of healing. I wasn’t in heaven, no, I was lying down in a mortuary, along with other dead bodies. Jack’s body was also there too, right beside where I lay. I sat up and looked around. Other bodies from people who had died in the shooting were also there too.&nbs
Marylin’s POV…Father Jacob helped me bury the dead worker’s body and helped me leave town. He would have followed me, but he had to ensure that things were ok back at home and that no one ever found out how that poor worker died. So, I was all on my own.I journeyed into the wilderness for days, the canopies from the trees formed a shade that protected me from the blazing sun, as father Jacob had told me that I could never see the sunlight again. At first, I was scared, being all alone in those dark woods and with the wild animals that lived there. It was not until I realized that I could feed on animals, a very useful piece of information father Jacob ought to have given me before he left, that I found it easier to adjust to this strange new life of mine. A wolf that wanted to attack me on one of such nights I was resting, I was sitting by the small fire I had created and singing one of the hopeful songs Gerome used to sing to me, how I missed
Dana sat there in the cave beside me and for the first time, we had a conversation. I told her all about myself, my story and how I ended up here, and she sympathized with me.“Ok Marylin, the first thing we need to do is to get you out of here. Can you fly?”“No,” I told her. “Even if I could, I don’t have enough strength to do so, I haven’t eaten in days.”“Sorry about that, let me quickly get you something to eat, then we can leave.”She stood up, and flew out through the cave. I only had to wait for a few minutes before she returned with a small dead antelope, captured in her fangs. She threw the antelope on the floor at my feet.“I just killed it, eat up so that we can go.”Of course, she didn’t need to tell me twice before I grabbed the animal with my claws and devoured it there. Suddenly, I felt strength and life return to me again.&n
Derick and I began a relationship not long after he moved in with us, he confessed his feelings for me and I felt the same way about him too, so we became a couple. Dana was happy for us, and gave us her full support. Our relationship didn’t get in the way of me and Dana’s friendship, sometimes she would even steal me away from Derick to take me on a new adventure. One of such days, she took me to the enchanted forest. The forest was a sight to behold, and if you would have told me before that a forest could live on a river, I would have thought you were crazy. But there it was, surrounded by the full beauty of nature, and illuminated by the glowing pixies that lived in it.The forest was home to many mystical creatures Dana had told me about before, she brought me here to see things for myself. We walked a bit into the forest, and that was when I heard a little pixie crying in the distance.“Do you hear that? Someo
