When they got to the house, all Deanna wanted to do was get the kids and go home. She was now even more on edge than before, and Max was left behind her shaking his head. It seemed the more he wanted to give her some peace, it was the opposite that happened. Though the advice that Tami had given her was something she did need to hear, it was hard not to play along with David’s game as they were still at the beginning of this whole mess.
Max wanted to wrap her up and put her somewhere where this couldn’t touch her anymore. It was going to drain her in ways she didn’t even know, and he knew what would happen then. Nothing he could do would save them from the outcome no matter how hard he tried. He looked at her as she helped his mom pack up Michelle, and Henry was walking as he pushed the big truck he knew his father had got for him. Max knew if everything conti
Deanna waited until they got back to the house before she began to really look at Max. He was acting so weird when they were at the house that she was slightly confused. Max had been the one who rolled with everything that had happened and even the one who was pushing to get married quickly. Though he said it was to protect her, she knew it was so much more that he wanted. He wanted to secure his family, but the look on his face at his parent's house despite the fact he seemed different now was still bothering her.“I say we burn them,” Max said as he lifted the last huge bin of letters that was left at their door. “Who really cares about the money anymore?”“Well, considering we are bringing in about five to six thousand every day now, I would say the charity,” Deanna stated as she looked them over. “Max, I can
The water hit their skin and instantly made them both feel better. Though it was a simple thing, Max knew this was the best way to get her to relax a bit more though he was the one who seemed to need it. He was trying to forget his thoughts of her walking away from him and the kids, but he was just able to push them to the back of his head. He would have to deal with all of that later. Now was a time to focus on her and the statement that he was the hottest guy she had ever seen.Though his mind was telling him that she wasn’t lying about that, something told him that it couldn’t happen. She kept saying that she thought he was attractive, but he still didn’t believe it. To him, it was pointless to argue with her about it. She would huff and then walk away from the conversation. It was like discussing how
As Max walked around the green field next to the building, he taught out of watching Henry run around looking for his newest rock that would be exactly like the others he had collected and kept by his travel bed in Max’s office. Max thought about how his life had changed so much in the past few weeks. He never thought it was possible to be this content in life.Michelle, wrapped in a blanket in his arms, started to make some noise as she seemed to smile at Max. “And what are you so happy about, princess?” he asked softly at the baby.“Professor?” Max heard and turned to see a female student in front of him. He hadn’t ever seen her before, but she was looking at him the same way the others had that had made a bet with each other about trying to get him into a situation.“Henry, come here,” Max said as he reached d
Max thought about it for a minute. Then he looked around the office. “Pack up the kids.”“Max, what is going on?” Deanna asked.“Someone wants to play. I am sick of this, Deanna. I am sick of waiting for them to make a move, and we are always left reacting to whatever problem. Now it is our turn to turn the tables. I hope what that kid said was the truth, and they have no way of contacting Mr. X. The unknown one. “ Max said. “The first thing we are going to do is take the kids to my parent's house. Then you and I are going to the police in the midlands and talking to the detective in charge of all of this. Hopefully, we can get enough support that we can get this guy or someone close to him.”“Max,” Deanna said as she looked at him.“No.” He said. “You have t
As they pulled up to the house, his parents lived in Max was quickly out of the car. He was undoing the car seats and buckles. He looked up to see his father standing there with a slight grin on his face. “Twice in as many weeks?” Mitchel asked as he looked at the pair unloading the car.“There is a problem, and we need you to watch these two for a while. Hopefully, it will only take a few hours, but I am not sure.” Max said as he stood up and had Michelle free from the base of the car seat, and Deanna had Henry in her arms. The bags that they normally had for the school were also on the ground.“What’s going on?” Marie asked as she saw the pair and the expressions on their faces.“Someone tried to get to Deanna while we were at the school,” Max said flatly. “We have to
Max and the other men in the room watched her as she feverishly typed into her phone. She was now scrolling through the pages, and she looked up. Max had never actually seen someone turn different shades right in front of him before. He was instantly holding her back and propping her up. “What did you find?” Max prompted, knowing everyone was waiting on her.“There was this law clerk at the lawyers who my dad favored.” She said softly, almost to the point no one could hear her. “Remember when I told you I got the weird results from the DNA tests.”“Yes.” Max prompted again. He was getting her to sit down. “What does this have to do with you and this?”“Max, listen,” Deanna said as she looked at up at into his eyes. He was listening, but time was important he
Deanna looked around here as the entire group of people that were in the room a few minutes ago were in the parking lot getting in different cars. They had a few different ways to get to the area, and then they would hike to the house and wait for some sort of movement. Two other units were going on a hunting trip to see if they could find the other person involved for some questioning and to hold him on his outstanding warrants. This simple favor Max had asked for was growing by the minute.Despite the growing nature of this, Deanna felt oddly calm as she looked toward Max. She knew half of the reason she had been on edge lately wasn’t because of this or the letters though they had taken a toll on her. She would never deny that. The fact he was so accepting of everything that had to do with her and their lives together was something she would never really understand. He
Deanna looked at Max as he waited for a response. Everyone seemed like they were on high alert when she took a step forward. She wasn’t trying to hold the attention, but she could not get over who was in front of her. It was a shocking moment for her, and it showed her that everything she had thought for her entire life was nothing but a lie. She shook her head.“This is my brother Jeremy. You didn’t get to meet him at Justine’s funeral, Max. He was missing from that, but I heard he made a scene at our parent’s one.” Deanna said as she looked at the man on the ground with a look. No one had seen her give before. “The other one is his best friend, James.”“Deanna, tell them to let us go!” James said, “It was a joke!”“A j

As they looked over the crowd that had gathered he leaned closer to her, “I said small by the way. I had no idea.”“It is fine.” She said as she smiled up at him. She smiled at the crowd that was making their way up to the pair. She saw the other flower girls and smiled at them. Her aunts were here with their new families as well. “how?”“I have no idea.” Max said with his grin. “it is just a magical day when a human marries the elf queen.”“I don’t get you.” She said as she shook her head and he laughed. The first wave of people finally had made it to them. As Max introduced her to his extended family one by one she smiled and was true to form in being the nicest person in the world. After the first wave the second came upon them. These people she alr
After getting the girls ready Deanna sat on the bed knowing Max was getting himself and Henry ready in some other place in the house. She looked at the mirror in Max’s old bedroom and she smiled as she got in her dress. Her hair was another story. As she brushed it out the natural waves came through and she smiled as she knew anything she tried to do to it was going to fail. She applied the light make up she had chosen and then brushed the hair again as it was drying. When she placed the veil on her head along with the metal leafed crown that Max had insisted on because of course she was the elfin queen and she had to look her part for the day. As she smiled when Marie had knocked and opened the door at her answer.“You look so beautiful.” She said as she looked at Deanna with approving eyes. The older woman looked to be on the verge of tears. “I know that this
When they woke up in the morning they tried to keep the kids on the schedule thy normally stayed with for the mornings before work. Everyone was dressed in normal clothes and Max had already taken the outfits for the ceremony out to the car. Everything was now packed up including travel beds and treats along with meals. The day was ready to begin for real now.Deanna went into the car after they got the kids in it and was sitting there ready for the day. Still a little tired from the night before as they had enjoyed the last night of being single. Max smiled at her and started the drive. Though it would take an hour he was fine with the relative silence in the van.His parents house would be a staging area for them. They would unload the van from their stuff for the day and then they would pile up back into it to set up for the day. Then they would retu
Max led the way to the car after putting the portable cribs back in his office. It was always a hassal of lugging the cribs back and forth but he wasn;t willing to leave Deanna for any amount of time where he couldn’t act if he had too. The news had hit about the Watson siblings and that added to the frenzy around the orginal case. She was still very much in the crosshairs. Max wasn;t willing to budge on the fact he needed to be there around her and he had to be armed as well.He would gladly protect her from any of the possible threats that could happen. Though for the most part people seemed to respect her privacy and didn’t ask to many questions some thought it was okay to dig deeper into her life. Soon one element would be erased. It was a beginning to end the nightmare that had surrounded the two.Max was more surprised when he received
The next few days flew by as they settled into a new routine. Max was doing the barest minimum for the class. The students all noticed and more than a few had questioned him about it. The office hours had been cut and the lectures had become almost boring as Max spent more time holding one of the kids than he spent talking to the students.“I know that you all were interested in the class however things have come up and we will not be continuing like we were before. I know in the beginning of the year I explained how I want all of you here for each lecture. Now the only thing that will really be required is that you show up for the exams and the final.” Max said as one of the students looked at him and asked what was really going on.“So you are finding that letting your TA and her kids into your life a little too much?” one of the girls asked from the second r
She yawned as they got in the van after putting the kids down. He smiled to himself knowing the reason she was so tired lately and for once it really didn’t have to do with the family she had left behind. It was the family they were building together. The baby would be the one to unite them completely though it didn’t matter to much to him. it was more about the life they were building together. The baby was just a symbol of the love he had for her and the reverse was also true. She had walked into his life three times and changed it each time. The only student he was ever attracted to and the one who had his heart and had taught him that he could love. She had given him a purpose in life with her presence and with her little elf siblings. He now felt more at ease with himself and his life that he was okay with losing his job though he had planned on leaving it.
