Eugene’s rigid form trembled as he frowned and told his daughter, “Go away, Rue. I don’t need you to protect me.”

“No, you need me right now. If I don’t do this, Great-grandfather will beat you to death,” Rue said with red-rimmed eyes. She continued, “If you get beaten to death, I won’t have a father anymore.”

The little girl’s words pierced his heart harshly. He reached out and wrapped her into his arms. “I won’t die. I won’t leave you here alone.”

Quinn narrowed his eyes and ordered, “Come over and take the young missus away!”

“I won’t leave! I won’t allow you to hit Daddy!” Rue told the old master firmly with a stiff expression on her face.

“Your father is being disobedient. I’m teaching him a lesson.” Quinn looked like he still had the intention to forgive Eugene and let him go.

“Why are all of you standing there in a daze? Take the young missus away!” Quinn ordered the servants beside him coldly.
