Eugene’s smirk vanished. He stared at her silhouette with a darkening gaze.

She said that he was childish? Did she think that Jeremy was more mature and reliable than he was?

“Thank you, Rue.” Fern kissed Rue on her face.

“Try it and let me know how it tastes. I specially made the yolk runny for you. It was hard to control the heat of the stove.”

Fern used her fork to break the yolk gently. The egg yolk was really runny!

“Rye, where did you learn how to cook? You controlled the heat of the stove well.” Fern never realized that her daughter had potential in cooking.

“I learned how to cook from the chef at home. Daddy and you weren’t always home back then, so I found something to do since I was too bored.”
