Chapter 35 - Zak
I wait at the high table with Brandon and Charlie on either side of me. Gael, Hakeem, and Meredith sit at one of the front tables with Karamea, Carmen, and Declan. The alphas of the other packs file into the room, finding their assigned seats.
Once everyone is here, I come down from the dias and walk in front of the tables, just like I do when I am speaking to my pack. I want these alphas to be at ease and the only way I’m going to do that is to show that I don’t feel that I am superior to them. In fact, the only people that are currently seated at the high table are my two mates and I’m ok with everyone in this room knowing that I hold them in higher regard than them. I expect that they would do the same with their own mates.

The funeral pyres were large that night, fed on the bodies of the dead from both sides. They light up the night sky, the smoke drifting toward the moon as the fallen wolves joined the Moon Goddess in her march across the night sky.
