Chapter 16 Are husbands and wives so alienated?

At noon, Zhou Lian's assistant called her and said that the cooperation at the construction site in the north of the city needed to be discussed in detail.

It was a matter of business, and Song Ci didn't dare to neglect it, so he rushed over without even taking a bite of the meal.

When she arrived on the first floor of Zhou Group, someone was already waiting for her in the lobby.

Song Ci raised his eyebrows when he saw the man standing there in a suit.

She originally thought it would be Zhou Lian's assistant, but she didn't expect it to be him.

"Mr. Zhou is so polite, why come down here to wait for me?" Song Ci deliberately joked.

But Zhou Lian stepped forward and held her waist, taking her outside, "Let's go eat first."

"Let me go!" Song Ci was about to protest, but when he saw the employees around him looking at them with a gossipy look, he instantly fell silent.

She tried her best to pretend to be calm and composed, walking side by side with Zhou Lian.

Zhou Lian looked at her serious expression and sighed softly.

Unexpectedly, this little hedgehog is quite thin-skinned.

Song Ci originally thought that Zhou Lian meant a casual meal, but Zhou Lian drove her to a restaurant on the outskirts of the city.

Song Ci has been to this restaurant before. It has a beautiful environment and good food.

The only drawback is that it's a bit far.

After sitting down, Zhou Lian picked up the menu and ordered a few signature dishes with ease.

Song Ci was a little stunned when he saw him skillfully announcing the names of the dishes.

They all seem to be her favorite dishes.

After ordering, Zhou Lian glanced at her and asked, "Is there anything else you want to order?"

Song Ci shook his head slightly, raised his lips and said, "Didn't Mr. Zhou already order it for me?"

Zhou Lian did not refute her words.

When they were still living together, he discovered that although Song Ci was a workaholic, he was also delicious and very picky about food.

There used to be an aunt at home who specialized in cooking. Every time before cooking, she would ask him and Song Ci about their taboos.

He didn't have much, but Song Ci could count a lot.

Over time, he understood clearly what Song Ci liked and what he didn't like.

Habits can be a scary thing sometimes.

After the dishes were served, Song Ci moved his chopsticks without any politeness, without any intention of exchanging pleasantries.

Zhou Lian was not someone who liked talking at the dinner table, so the two of them ate in silence.

Until a familiar voice broke the harmony here.

"Brother, why are you here!"

The visitor was Zhou Can, accompanied by Mrs. Zhou.

Song Ci and Zhou Lian's expressions changed, and they immediately put on business smiles and stepped forward to greet the old lady.

"grandmother."

"grandmother."

The two greeted each other in unison. The old lady had not seen her grandson and granddaughter-in-law for a long time, so she smiled and squinted her eyes.

She held Song Ci's hand and pretended to blame her, "You said you kid, why don't you come home to see me? You almost forgot about my old lady!"

Song Ci smiled and did not refute, and waited for the old lady to chatter for a while before replying, "Grandma, I have been a little busy recently. I will definitely go back to my old house to see you in a few days."

"Okay!" After getting the answer she wanted, the old lady was satisfied.

Zhou Lian on the side looked as if he was isolated.

The old lady didn't even look at him the whole time, and she could only pretend to be Song Ci.

He just stood aside and silently watched Song Ci perform.

"Brother, why doesn't grandma care about you?" Zhou Can felt aggrieved on his behalf and glanced at the old lady holding Song Ci's hand with some dissatisfaction.

Zhou Lian's tone was very calm, "Grandma's concern for Song Ci is no different from her concern for me."

"How could there be no difference!" Zhou Can couldn't see him speaking for Song Ci, so he muttered in a low voice, "She is an outsider."

"Okay, grandma, let's stop standing here and take a seat first." Song Ci sighed inwardly. It seemed that the meal was no longer delicious.

The old lady sat down next to her with a loving face, and Zhou Can sat down next to Zhou Lian.

"Come on, Ci Ci, eat this and eat more." The old lady was busy picking food for Song Ci the whole time, which made Song Ci panic. He quickly added some of the old lady's favorite food to the old lady's plate.

Zhou Can was a little dissatisfied with the old lady's preference for Song Ci, and complained, "Grandma, it's not like she doesn't know how to pick up vegetables. Just be busy eating what's in your bowl!"

The old lady interrupted her with disapproval, "That's okay. CiCi is so thin. It looks like she doesn't eat much."

After saying that, he glanced at Zhou Lian reproachfully, "You, don't be so busy making money every day that your wife doesn't even care!"

Zhou Lian smiled and said, "Grandma taught me a lesson. I will definitely keep an eye on her in the future."

Song Ci, who was being cared for, looked at the food that was almost overflowing from the bowl and worried that he might not be able to walk after eating for a while.

After finally finishing a sumptuous lunch, the old lady suddenly had the idea to follow them back to the company.

Zhou Lian frowned and said, "Grandma, you'd better go home and rest. You're too tired from going back and forth."

Song Ci also echoed, "Yes, grandma, please look at the sun outside."

If he really let the old lady go with him, she probably wouldn't have to go back to the company all afternoon.

Song Ci glanced at Zhou Lian silently, remembering that he owed him one more time!

The old lady was so stubborn that she couldn't hold back nine cows, so she immediately decided, "I'll just take a look."

Zhou Can on the side also helped, "Yeah, brother, grandma hasn't been out for a long time, she's almost bored."

She clearly saw Song Ci walking with a strange man last time, but no one believed her.

She always felt that something must have happened between Song Ci and Zhou Lian that she didn't know about.

She must go with her today.

Zhou Lian had no choice but to take these two people with him.

After returning to the company, Zhou Lian was not in a hurry to discuss business and took the old lady for a walk.

Song Ci stayed by the side and scolded Zhou Lian hundreds of times in his heart.

If he hadn't been busy, would she have wasted her precious time trying to apologize?

No, Zhou Lian owed her several favors, and she must pay them back.

It was a rare occasion for the old lady to go out and see her grandchildren and daughter-in-law, and she had a lot to say.

At that moment, she asked Song Ci about everything about her and Zhou Lian's life.

Song Ci could only make up random things. She and Zhou Lian had been separated for several months, so she didn't know what to say.

Occasionally she couldn't make it up, so Zhou Lian stepped in to smooth things over, finally making the old lady happy.

But Zhou Can saw something was wrong. She had seen Song Ci wink at Zhou Lian several times when she couldn't answer.

Are husband and wife so alienated?

She looked at the two people with searching eyes, the suspicion in her heart getting deeper and deeper.

After the old lady asked, she took Song Ci's hand with satisfaction and said that she had worked hard.

"It's not easy when you have to work and take care of your family at the same time."

Song Ci lowered his head and sneered. Even before she and Zhou Lian divorced, she had never managed the family.

She and Zhou Lian are busier than the other. They spend most of the year on business trips, so it's nice to have someone at home.

What the old lady said is really ridiculous.

Zhou Lian gave her a meaningful look and said, "It's really hard work. You still have time to make friends when you're busy working."

Song Ci smiled and counterattacked, "That can't compare to you. You are so busy that you can't even go home and have to worry about other things."

The old lady didn't understand the riddles played by the two people, and thought they were caring about each other, so she smiled with relief.

Before leaving, she took Song Ci's hand again and said with some embarrassment, "Ci Ci, it's not grandma who forces you, but you have been married for several years. Isn't it time to think about the child?"
