Elena's head pounded as she slowly drifted into consciousness.

A dull ache spread through her limbs, her body stiff from an unnatural sleep.

The scent of expensive cologne and aged wood filled her nostrils, the air thick with familiarity, a scent from her past.

Her eyelids fluttered open, adjusting to the dim glow of golden chandeliers hanging from a high ceiling.

The room was large, its walls adorned with intricate moldings, oil paintings, and rich mahogany furniture.

The faint hum of classical music played from a speaker system, so soft it was almost a whisper.

Where am I?

Panic gripped her chest as she pushed herself upright.

A silk duvet pooled around her waist, the mattress beneath her unnervingly comfortable.

This wasn’t a hotel. This wasn’t an abandoned warehouse like in some crime movie.

This was a home.

A very familiar home.

Realization hit her like a cold slap.

Her father’s estate.

Elena's breath hitched. She swung her legs over the side of the bed, her bare feet sinkin

Ethan Calloway paced the floor with restless energy, his gaze flickering between the closed doors and the clock on the wall. We’ve been running, fighting, surviving. This is the first time we can actually just live.”Her chest tightened at his words. He was right. Their love had been forged in fire, tested by storms.
