LYRA.
Sounds of drumming and victory chants of warriors filled the air making it electric.
I smiled with pride as I watch my men jubilate.
This is yet another cause to celebrate.
We won the war with Thane’s troupe against the beastly Border rogues.
My joy new no bound as I danced with them.
I’m sure the Viking Alpha is looking down smiling proudly at us.
There has been victory upon victory and prosperity since his death.
As much as I didn’t want to sound pompous, I knew a large part of why was my excellent leadership skills.
Thinking about my life and how I got here made me somewhat emotional.
From my humble beginning to becoming the leader of a clan as large as the Vikings.
I raised my hand and there was instant decorum from the crowd. It was time to address them.
“My brothers, my wolf warriors,” I began. My voice sounded loud across the crowd.
“We celebrate yet another victory tonight. Our strength, unity and loyalty have been tested and proven true. It is known all across that our tribe is not a tribe to be played with and we hold pride in that.”
The crowd erupted in loud cheers and applause and I smiled at their enthusiasm.
“They seek to tear us apart but they do not know that there’s more to our success and bravery.”
I stopped, basking in the silence before I continued
“It is our loyalty, faith and selflessness for one another.
The love that exists between us didn’t just spring up now but has been deep rooted, planted by our ancestors.
Our determination to protect and provide for each other, our commitment to our clan.
All this are what has brought us here today.”
I took a short pause again matching gaze’s with the warriors.
Their faces held great determination and diligent attentiveness.
They were silent, hanging on to my every word.
“I’m honored and proud to be the leader of this clan.” My voice cracked with emotion as I said this.
“I’m also proud to call each and everyone of you my family. So let us continue to stand for one another, to fight for our clan and show the world what it means to be a Viking.”
There was a loud uproar and applause at the end of my speeech.
The drumming, dancing and celebration resumed.
At noon, Cleo came to my quarters to call upon me.
“The Moon Black clan has sent their appreciation booties,” he announced.
“That’s very thoughtful of them. What about Thane?” I asked on a second thought.
“He has promised to come over himself and show his appreciation and uphold of our alliance, but I believe he is still busy settling all the spoils of war in his clan.”
I noddded at this, trying to show nonchalance but my interest was completely piqued.
For the past few days, I have found myself thinking of him more and more, wondering what it would be like to see him again, to hear his voice and…
I tried to push thoughts of Thane aside.
“There’s something else,” Cleo said with hesitation.
The look on his face suggested that whatever he had to say might not be all that pleasing.
“What is it Thane?” I asked, my curiosity piqued.
“The high septon, he has summoned for you.”
The high septon is the highest spiritual figure in our clan. He lives in the outskirts of the clan in his shrine like cave, never seen in the camp unless on special occasion.
It has been quite a long time since I received a summon like this from him so I was a little trepidated.
“What does he want?” I asked more to myself than Cleo who was standing in front of me.
“I’m not sure,” he responded scratching his head in confusion.
“But I’m guessing it has something to do with the recent happening.”
“The recent happening?” I repeated with a frown.
Cleo nodded.
“And exactly what is wrong with the recent happening?”
Cleo didn’t say a word but I could feel he was hesitating.
“Cleo you do know that if you know something and is hiding it from me, it is considered an offense right?”
“I’m not sure my lady, in fact I might be wrong but I think the high septon wants to discuss the wish of our late Viking Alpha with you,” Cleo explained.
Now that is a discussion that I hope was forgotten but the sudden mention of it has got a sinking feeling of nothingness in my stomach.
The Alpha Viking’s wish was that we unite the Viking clan and the Black Harem clan.
In fact it was the last mission he had embarked on but couldn’t see it through before his demise.
The history between the Vikings Clan and the Black Harem clan is an ancient one passed down from one generation to another as stories.
The first leader of both clans were once very close friends, some say they were siblings but either ways they had a very close relationship united in their quest to find the lost city of Eldarath.
Then came when it was time for them to both claim a mate.
According to history, the Viking Alpha had met a woman named Astrid first. She was a beautiful intelligent and fierce warrior from a neighboring clan.
The Viking Alpha had taken a liking to her and she to him.
They fell in love and soon became inseparable, but the leader of the Black Harem clan also had his eyes on Astrid.
He claimed to have also met her first and with that a feud between the two friends began.
This feud expanded to their clan and a grave animosity was implanted in both clan’s heart against the other.
It is believed that the leader of the Black Harem clan made a big offer to Astrid’s father, one he couldn’t refuse and because of that Astrid was forced to marry him to protect her clan.
This only brewed more hatred between both men and they eventually went into war.
It was a bloody battle that claimed thousands of lives.
The battle did nothing to change the hatred between both clans as they became sworn enemies from then till this day.
There has been several leaders and generations after then, but the stories were told on and the relationship remained the same.
The last Viking Alpha before me revealed to me one night that he had a calling and it was to unite both clan.
He confided in me and made me swear an oath that if he wasn’t able to make that happen that I’d see to it that the clans were united under my lead.
That is a very bold and courageous step but now that I think of it, I don’t know how I can make that happen.
The Vikings and Black Harem hatred goes beyond just a regular one.
Any Viking citizen that sets foot on the Black Harem land is immediately killed and vice versa.
How am I supposed to end such feud?
“I’ll see him tomorrow,” I finally said to Cleo who nodded and took his leave.
I retired to bed with heaviness in my heart.
Chapter 9Alpha Casper The biting wind slapped us hard on the face stinging our skin as we surged up on the hill that has now turned white from snow. The snow covered slope was treacherous and I could feel the icy ground threatening to send me tumbling at any moment.Needless to say it was very slippery and extremely difficult to get to the top of the hill.At some point, Kane suggested that we ignore the quest and find another way around it but I refused. This was the best way to get sight of the other side and see if the enemies camp is visible. The wind howled around us and with a quick glance at Kane, I could see the reluctance and dread written all over his face. His weakness irks me and at the moment I wondered why I made him the second in command to my army. The role befits a courageous and brave man that could stand in the face of danger and not bat an eyelid, not this nipwit that has got no balls.Ignoring him, I reached up with one hand and grabbed a shootout of the rock an
Chapter 10LYRA.After meeting with the high septon, I have been beside myself with an undiagnosed mood disorder. His plan for the resolution of conflict between our clan and the Dark Harem clan is absurd.Offering our land in the north to them and having me wed the son of the old Alpha is a completely ridiculous idea.A proposal, that we’re not even sure if the leader of the Dark Harem clan would accept.“It would be a great factor in strengthening our bond if they do agree to it,” he had said.I made him aware that I would never marry the Alpha’s son.The subject of who I’m supposed to marry is not his judgement to make.Making peace with the Dark Harem’s clan isn’t going to be a day’s job. They have to be bought gently and with patience, a virtue that I’m now doubtful of possessing. The toughness I’ve had to develop over the past years have overshadowed my soft part and I don’t know how I’m supposed to just awaken it in me again.I looked at the new outfit that was led down for me
THANE.The new moon shone brightly in the sky illuminating the night. It was like one of those nights where I’d just walk around or find a quiet place to perch just to admire the beauty of the night.A gentle breeze blew from across the horizon making the night as cold as ever. The blood pressure that comes with been a werewolf makes it hard to ever get cold but I enjoyed the warmth that came with it.Lyra and I walked slowly towards the camp. The crowds having dissipated made our stroll path desolated. From her hesitation it was obvious she still had something to say and I curse myself for my sudden muteness.I was frantically fighting with myself in my head to say something right, but nothing was forthcoming.Offering my arms to her as a gentleman’s gesture isn’t at all as simple an act as I thought it would be.Having her in such very close proximity has awakened the nervousness in me.I could perceive the scent of sweet cinnamon oil from her hair and even though I tried to keep my
Chapter 12LYRA.Thane’s sharp teeth sinking into my neck was as shockinge as it was hypnotizing. It sent a jolt of electricity running through my body and I found myself completely helpless in his grip.My feelings were a mixture of fear and excitement.Time suddenly seemed to stand still as I fought hard to process the sensations coursing through me.It was well past a minute before I could push him off myself. His reaction was that of surprise and desire.I stood up immediately ready to pounce on him.“Lyra, I…” he started but his words trailed off.“What did you do that for?” I asked my voice breaking with fear.I don’t know exactly what it is that is getting me so scared but I knew this wasn’t right.I’m not ready to be anyone’s mate, not now, not ever.My past trauma still lingered fresh in my mind.“I apologize Lyra. I lost control but damn I wanted to do this. I want you Lyra, as my woman, my mate.” His voice was filled with so much emotion that for a moment I wanted to wrap m
Chapter 13LYRA.“I don’t see anyone, the whole place seems deserted,” Dion returns to tell me.Myself and my men had hidden under the thick canopies of the trees in the forest. The moon casted an eerie shadow in the forest making it seem like the trees were themselves watching us.This is the exact location where the assassin told us Alerik and his people where camped in.And we’ve been able to confirm from the spy we had sent earlier that Alerik was indeed here. Why then is it deserted?I looked over from my hideout towards the horizon, nothing could be seen from my location. My heart was racing with anticipation and I felt oppressed by the silence.Clearing off the branches in front of me, I moved forward.“Are you sure Erik is right about this location?” Dion didn’t reply immediately but looked around like he was trying to make sure.“It does seem like there were people here not quite long ago. Perhaps they knew of our arrival and moved on,” he responded.I shook my head, somethi
THANE.We were having a small council meeting without my brother when he suddenly barged in, his eyes blazing with anger.Perhaps someone might have informed him of our meeting because it was in the dead of the night. My first guess was that it was Rogan but that was by the way.I had gathered the elders in an emergency meeting because we needed to decide on matter’s concerning the Border rogue’s land.As it was our right, we are supposed to take over everything but I heard a disturbing rumor that some other clan had their eyes on it.Halfway through the meeting we’d already decided that I and some men go over to lay claim to it the following day.I didn’t think it wise to involve my brother at that particular time because of obvious reasons. The grief he was going through at the moment, and also because I was more familiar with the Border rogues affairs. Not that I wouldn’t have made him aware of our short meeting before embarking on my trip. The feud between us doesn’t seem to be en
THANE.My instincts had already told me that this was the true purpose of their visit but I wanted to wait for confirmation.I watched them keenly without uttering a single word as they tried to convince me that I should consider taking up the challenge of becoming the new Alpha.“You do know that the purpose of this visit of yours, if discovered by my brother is punishable by death right?”I asked throwing the question to no one in particular. They shifted and grunted uncomfortably in their seats, exchanging uneasy glances.“We know that, Elder Olaf spoke.“But this is a serious issue. Your brother is too spontaneous. It is obvious that he is going to lead this clan to its doom.”“Yes, that’s true,” Einar Stone beard added. He was the youngest of them.A former warrior in his early fifties who was forced to leave the battle ground because of scoliosis but the agility and spark of youth still lingered in his eyes and voice.“Especially after he has ordered that we nullify the agreemen
Chapter 16LYRA.It’s been two days after the unsettling encounter with the witch.Even though I tried to shake it off, the images still lingered in my head haunting me.Not even after narrating my experience to the whole of my council members did I get a meaning to what happened.A meaning to what I saw, which still terrified me each time I tried to recall.War, werewolves slaughtered, little children killed. It was all too much to keep replaying in my head.We decided it was time to seek the high septon’s knowledge, hoping his wisdom would shed light on the mystery. He heeded to our invite promptly and was soon in the council meeting room with us.“The mysterious creature you encountered is indeed a witch,” he announced to us.“But how is that possible?” One of the elders asked speaking my mind.“Aren’t they just fairytales?” Cleo questions staring at the high septon quizzically. The high septon let everybody voice their doubts before he responded.“The witches are real and not fair
Chapter 51Lyra.After the refreshing bath, I was led to a lavish dressing room with an array of female dress in a large wooden closet.I felt obliged to ask the servant girl if this was predesigned but decided against it.I chose a simple yet elegant cashmere dress with delicate rose patterns on the bust area.I particularly loved how soft the material felt on my skin. The young lady offered to style my hair, but I politely refused.I’d pretty much prefer to maintain my independence.Despite being the Alpha of a clan, I never allow myself get used to servants attending to my personal matters. After brushing my hair, and richly applying a hair oil on it, I packed it in a ponytail which was my basic style in my little effort to look elegant.I stared at my reflection on the mirror and felt like I looked pretty. Not something that happened quite often. The dress was a distinct contrast to the gloomy war outfit I usually wore. When Thane saw me, he didn’t hide the admiration in his face.
Chapter 50Lyra.Thane stood up and undid his pants. He tugged them and his inner shorts down exposing his throbbing manhood. He grabbed my legs and lifted one of them up over his hip, giving him enough of an angle to fuck me while standing up.I moaned wildly as I felt his rod penetrate me for the first time. His cock throbbed violently as he pumped into me.My eyes rolled back in my head as he kissed my lips passionately again, sucking on my tongue. His wandering hands found my nipples and he squeezed them.I felt a painful sensation surging through me like an electric shock.I put my hands back against a wall as he continued to ram me, sending shock waves up my spine with each thrust.I could feel his rod milking by my tight womanhood.Thane’s moan sounded like music to my ears.“I feel like I’m going to cum,” he whispered in my ear.“Wait!” I exclaimed. He stopped thrusting and pulled out.I got down on my knees and started stroking his shaft aggressively.I began by sucking on th
Chapter 49Thane.Ozark was finally defeated and I couldn’t be any happier.Lyra told me a part of the reason they were victorious was because of Elara the witch.“Poor girl, she was faced with the fate of killing her own sister,” Lyra remarked.“What happened to Ozark in the end?” I asked.“He’s dead, killed by my own sword.”“So who rules the tribe now?” I questioned.“The former Alpha had a son that was banished from the land.Majority of the villagers accepted that he be their new leader, so he was named the new Alpha.”Lyra leaned closer, her bosom pressing against my chest.“And I hear you have been so victorious here, the villagers continue to sing your name,” she said in an almost whisper, a half smile spreading across her face.“Well, it wasn’t just my glory.I have my warriors to thank for that.”“Been humble now, aren’t we?”Her soft smile became more prominent.“Alpha Thane,” she whispered in a soft seductive voice.I chuckled. My lips wandered over her jaw, and down her t
Chapter 48Thane.The knife fell from Lisa’s hand clattering to the ground and breaking the silence in the room.Thorfin quickly dashed and picked the knife from the floor.Lisa burst into tears. She cried profusely, muttering incoherent words to herself.I went closer and gently took the baby from her.She showed no resistance.I took a glance at her and despite her cantankerous attitude, felt pity for her.She was mourning her lost love.Kane took hold of her and gently dragged her towards the door. She’ll need to cool down in isolation for the main time. The child in my arms had quieted down and his almond green little round eyes gazed at me curiously. He was indeed a tiny adorable thing, and I couldn’t help but feel a surge of paternal affection towards him.I gently rocked him forth and back trying to sooth any more fears he had picked up from our outburst. The wet nurse soon approached me with a smile.“Alpha Thane, shall I take the young master from you, I’ll make sure he is we
Chapter 47Thane.Moment after the meeting with the council members, Kane and Thorfin came to me with a distressed news.“She’s a bag of trouble, I think she should be locked up before she causes any more trouble,” said Kane with a low and urgent tone as we stepped out of my chambers. The air outside was cold and crisp. The evening breeze blew softly from the eastern horizon spreading warmth across the environment. The setting sun cast a pale yellow glow adding to the aesthetic of the evening. As we walked, I romanticized over the weather, thinking of Lyra.“Lisa has gone out of control, I’m telling you, we need to curtail her,” I hear Kane say again, jolting me out of my reverie.“I’ll need to speak with her first, she can’t be that hard to control,” I remarked.“I’m guessing she didn’t take the news of her father been removed from his position as head of finance so well. She’s been acting out since. She killed a guard who tried to stop her from running away last night,” Thorfin adde
Chapter 46Author’s POVThe joyous chant of freedom in the Moon black clan lasted for days. They celebrated their new Alpha, Thane, and their liberation from the former tyrant Alpha Casper. As per was the custom of a victorious battle, Casper’s head was spiked up for all to see.A gruesome yet triumphant spectacle. His tongue was shot out mocking the world even in death.Thane was named the new Alpha and a celebration ensued. He was called the hero of their time.A certain kind of peace and happiness was bestowed upon the clan.Thane has always been their choice for a ruler, but no one could go against Casper. The few that did, had their heads on a spike as punishment. It made the clan members happy that karma had taken it’s course.Despite the whole celebration frenzy, Thane was worried about one thing, his mate. The outcome of the war she had embarked upon wasn’t communicated to him yet, even though he sent an emissary two days ago.The uncertainty of Lyra’s well being gnawed at him
Chapter 45Author’s POV.Casper and Thane’s gaze fixed upon each other, eyes blazing with fury.In Casper’s hands was a half-empty bottle containing a dark liquid. It was actually a potion, one that he got from Ozark’s witch, to enhance his powers. After, Casper realized he was going on a battle with his brother, he decided to patronize Ozark. The news of Ozark and his witch had spread wildly through many of the werewolf clan, most of whom were trying their best to be on his good picture.Ozark was one of them.Although he didn’t believe the potency of the potion until worse came to worse. He’d thought of taking it when Thane challenged him on a one on one duel, but the fear of embarrassing himself in front of his army didn’t let him.Thane doesn’t seem to notice the bottle on Casper’s hands as he continued to breath hard, angry breaths.“Let’s do this, without the armor and our werewolf ability,” Casper said stepping forward.Even though he could feel the invigorating effect of the p
Chapter 43.Thane.Our plan was unfolding quite well. From my vantage point at the top of the hill, I could see Casper and his army charging on, with no knowledge of the trap that awaited them. This location was the perfect spot for an ambush, and it was exactly what we needed to turn the tide in our favor. Thanks to Thorfin’s extraordinary idea.We didn’t go to the battle scene with all of our warriors. We had deliberately kept our forces divided, having some of the warriors, perched at the top of this hill with arrows and bows drawn. The others that went to battle with me have been initially informed to pretend to retreat on my command. There were two opposite hills and a narrow path along. The path itself was a clever deception, seeming to offer a route forward. But it was actually leading to a dead end, and you won’t realize it until you’re in it.They surged forward ignorantly, and I held up my hand waiting for the perfect moment to let it down for the universal sign of fire.I w
Chapter 42Author’s POVThe day for the battle between Casper and Thane finally came.It was a dull bright cloudy morning. In Thane’s settlement, he gathered his combatants. They arrived on the departing scene chanting war song and galvanizing their weapons. They were dressed in fur and leathered attire, a black mark made with paint running across their face.An unholy fervor of battle was within the air. The glints of armor, unsheathing of swords where all an indication of the battle fever that hung in the air.The smell of the fresh, damp soil mingles with the metallic tang of battle-ready gear. There was Kane, a hardened warrior shifting from soldier to soldier, and chanting more war songs to boost their morale. His rigid muscles ripple under the skin of his shirt indicating the peaks of his battle-readiness. There was also Thorfin. His stocky frame was clenched around a reinforced wooden battle-ax demonstrating that he is warmed up as well. And there were the other warriors, al
