Kol glances at me, perplexed, and suddenly realizes something about Christian. "Chris, can you give us a moment? This is a private matter," he says.

Christian gives a headshake. "No." With a stern voice, he puts down the drink he was holding. "The both of you have got to stop leaving me out of everything."

"We don't-" I try to speak, but my words get stuck in my throat.

He's accurate. Since August, I have not seen him in person. The first reason was that he and Kol had broken up. Right now? I was still cutting him out of my life even though I had no cause to.

"All right, I'd like to let Dad know that you skipped school today. He will be overjoyed to hear that, I'm sure," I say, tensing up in place.

"Chris, don't be a fucking ass," Kol lashes out at Christian, shaking his head.
