Chapter 4

ADRIAN’S POV

The gush of wind hit me and I shivered slightly. Something was happening and I couldn't place my fingers on what it was.

Trying to shrug off the thoughts, I got dressed for the event I was invited to.

“You look good!” Axel complimented. I rolled my eyes and continued buttoning my shirt.

“Ouch! That hurts! Wouldn't you reply to me?” Axel asked angrily.

“Urgh! Can you take your whining somewhere else?” I said irritatedly. I knew I sounded harsh but he was already used to it by now. I hate having to speak so much, it wasn't my thing.

“Let's go,” I said and we walked out of the pack house.

The thought of meeting many people was already upsetting me. I didn't like social gatherings and the only reason I agreed to this was because of my desperate need for a mate.

For some unknown reasons, I was drawn to go to this particular pack. Since I received the letter, a strange occurrence has been happening.

My heart would suddenly start beating faster just by thinking of going there. I had a feeling something big was awaiting me there.

Still thinking about what I was going to meet, I closed my eyes only to see a wolf staring at me. The wolf was very beautiful, it was like something I had never seen before. I opened my eyes and noticed it was all an imagination.

Or was it?

It felt like I was remembering an old picture that I had seen.

Who was that wolf?

We were warmly welcomed once we arrived at the crystal pack. I felt a feeling that I  had never felt before. “Are you okay?” Axel asked after we were ushered into the pack house.

“I can't explain the feeling, I think my mate might be here,” I said with a sigh.

Axel grinned and I immediately shot him a glare.

“It is nice to see you, Alpha Adrian!” Alpha Demetrius greeted. We exchanged pleasantries for a while and he excused himself for a while.

My eyes darted across the room as I tried to notice everyone who passed by.

“Calm down, she will come to you,” Axel said after noticing my gaze.

Still searching for my mate, I suddenly felt a presence in front.

“Alpha Adrian,” she greeted with a bright smile.

She was dressed so elegantly and maybe the best dressed in the room but surprisingly, she wasn't my mate.

“I am the daughter of Alpha Demetrius,” she added when I didn't respond to her at first. “Okay,” I muttered, not even sparing her a glance again. I was busy searching for any lady that I was going to have a connection with.

It was shocking that I would anticipate seeing my mate like this, I was very sure it was the mate bond.

“I was thinking maybe I can show you around or something,” She uttered, this time her smile had faded.

“Yes, you can. But not now.” Axel quickly intervened. She didn’t say anything to him and rather looked at me causing a big frown to settle on my face.

This girl was acting pompous. Just because Axel was my beta didn’t mean she should look down on him. I got angry and was about to do something but Axel stopped me.

“Can you leave?” I asked angrily, already tired of her presence.

I was so happy she wasn’t my mate. There was just something about her that seemed off, she was acting too nice for my liking.

“The annual festival is about to start, let’s head to the hall.” Alpha Demetrius said, leading me to the hall. I got up reluctantly while trying to maintain my sanity. Why did this have to happen?

I got to the hall and was given a special chair. The event started but all through the event, I was barely listening. I wanted to be out of here as soon as I could but something kept dragging me to stay.

I was very sure these were the signs, I couldn’t just ignore them. I had to stay till she came by. I wondered if she was also feeling the same way as I was.

I tried imagining how she would look. Thinking about it, if she wasn’t the Alpha’s daughter then who was she?

“Do you need refreshments?” Alpha Demetrius asked and I nodded. I was suddenly hot and needed something to cool down.

“Yes, if you don’t mind,” I uttered politely.

Maids were arranged in a straight line as they brought several food accessories for the event. I was still searching around when my wolf immediately growled mate.

I looked in the direction I was feeling the connection and noticed a maid looking so weak and helpless. What she was wearing was nothing less than rags and she was an omega.

All my high hopes for her immediately washed down the drain!  My wolf yelped excitedly while I scowled angrily. Looking at her, she looked so disturbed and uneasy.

She must also be feeling the mate bond because she immediately looked at me. Trying to process everything, I noticed her figure sliding down and she immediately fell down flat.

The crowd laughed at her like it was a normal thing and even kicked her despite her state. I tried to ignore it but I couldn’t and before I knew it, I growled angrily.

“Mate!” The word came out of my mouth as everyone stared at me with their mouth wide open.

I didn’t know what to do but all I knew was that I didn’t like her. She was too fragile for my liking. She wasn’t even fit to be called my Luna or the Luna of my pack.

I didn’t know why Moon Goddess was playing games like this but I couldn’t imagine myself getting mated to an omega.

I could just reject her now and avoid her for the rest of my life.

Should I reject or accept her?
