Lily's skin tingled as Caspian's cool breath caressed her neck. She arched into him, a soft moan escaping her lips as his hands traced the curves of her waist. The sheets rustled beneath them, still warm from their passionate encounter.

"You feel incredible," Caspian murmured, his lips brushing her earlobe. "It's as if you were made for me."

A shiver ran down Lily's spine at his words. Part of her wanted to melt into his embrace, to believe the seductive promise in his voice. But caution nagged at the edges of her mind.

"Careful," she whispered, her fingers tangling in his dark hair. "Flattery will only get you so far."

Caspian chuckled, the sound vibrating through her. "Is that so? And here I thought I was being sincere."

Lily turned to face him, searching those mesmerizing silver eyes. "Sincerity from a vampire? Now that would be something."

His gaze flickered with an emotion Lily couldn't quite place. Amusement? Or perhaps a hint of vulnerability?

The aroma of fresh-brewed coffee enveloped Lily as she pushed open the door of her favorite café, the little bell tinkling overhead. She inhaled deeply, savouring the rich scent that promised to chase away the lingering drowsiness from her late night with Caspian. As she waited in line, she caught sight of her reflection in the polished espresso machine - her fiery hair slightly mussed, a faint purple mark just visible above her collar. Heat rose to her cheeks."The usual, Lily?" asked the barista, eyeing her curiously."Yes, please," Lily replied, her voice raspier than normal. She cleared her throat. "Extra shot today."As she waited for her drink, Lily felt the weight of stares on her back. She turned, catching the gaze of an elderly woman who quickly averted her eyes. A young man openly gaped before his companion elbowed him.Lily's brow furrowed. What was going on? She discreetly sniffed her shirt. No, she didn't smell like a vampire anymore. She'd showered thoroughly before leav

The scent of him - leather, spice, and something darker - enveloped her, making it hard to concentrate. "And what's this?" he asked, his breath ghosting across her ear. "Something more... potent, perhaps?"Lily suppressed a shiver, willing her voice to remain steady. "This," she said, holding the vial up to the light, "is for healing. Serious cuts, open wounds, that sort of thing."The liquid seemed to pulse with an inner light, reacting to her touch. Lily found herself mesmerized by its swirling depths, memories of past healings flickering through her mind."Fascinating," Caspian murmured. Lily exhaled slowly, focusing on the task at hand. The air was thick with the scent of herbs and magic, mingling with Caspian's intoxicating presence. She reached for a vial of shimmering yellow liquid, carefully measuring it into smaller containers."What's that one for?" Caspian asked, his curiosity evident despite his restraints."It's a mood enhancer," Lily replied, her voice steadier now. "Helps with anxiety, depression... general emotional balance.”"Fascinating," he murmured. "And does it work on vampires?"Lily paused, considering. "I'm... not sure. We don't typically get on with your kind so I also don’t cater to vampires."As she corked the last vial, her phone suddenly erupted with a shrill ring. Lily's heart leapt into her throat as she recognized Elena's ringtone."Shit," she hissed, fumbling for her phone. Her eyes locked with Caspian's, a silent warning. "Not. A. The sudden, shrill ring of Lily's phone shattered the moment. She cursed, recognizing her mother's ringtone. Lily's fingers trembled slightly as she finished applying the balm. She took a deep breath, inhaling the artificial scent that now clung to her skin. It felt wrong, like a betrayal of her true self."I know," she sighed, meeting Caspian's troubled gaze. "It's shit, but it's necessary. This way, I can pretend I've just been working on masking spells all day, or even that I’m using it to hide my scent from Gideon."She moved to the cracked mirror hanging on the wall, studying her reflection.
