Chapter 69: Agreement

She made an effort to encircle herself with her arms, hoping that the warmth of her own body would soothe the rekindled feelings of insecurity and exhaustion that she was experiencing in her heart. Even though the warmth was barely perceptible, Miren knew that she had to find something to cling to prevent her spirit from dissolving into dust.

Rats scurried across the cramped room and hid behind the aging furniture. When they saw Miren, their red eyes widened with a ravenous hunger for blood. They got closer to Miren, their minuscule voices became increasingly audible.

Miren looked at the small animals approaching, she could completely understand their intentions. They intended to dismember her in the same manner that they did the bodies of the other prisoners. However, she is not the type of person who can be easily teased due to her resilience.
