Chapter 3: The Nightmare Ends

Miren was completely unafraid to hug Kyra, even though Kyra's body was now broken. Miren's heart is full of bad emotions, she can only pray to the gods to manifest and protect her poor mother.

When Kyra felt the trembling of Miren's small body, she reached out and cradled her hands around Miren's tiny frame. She couldn't do it even if she wanted to, because Kyra's body wouldn't let her do it. Kyra was unable to do anything but talk. Kyra was acutely aware of how close she was getting to death. Although she tried to speak in a low voice, it didn't seem as if she could get her words out.

“Good girl, what I told you earlier was all fake. In my heart you are the most important person, I love and cherish you very much.”

In Kyra's lap, Miren nodded enthusiastically. She never thought of blaming her biological mother. Because she knows, everything her mother does is for her good.

Kyra seemed happier than before, the corners of her lips curled up a bit, but maybe because she was smiling, the corners of her lips cracked open, and fresh blood flowed out, sliding on the burnt skin from the fire. Kyra suddenly coughed, and it took a few minutes to calm down.

Dylan sat beside Kyra, looking at her with complicated eyes. Miren turned her gaze to the handsome man sitting next to her, so she sensed his gaze. That look contained a pang, pity, and sadness, but it did not contain love. Perhaps, Dylan's relationship with her mother was not that of a lover to each other.

“Kyra, do you have to torture yourself to this extent? You are completely capable of saving yourself.”

Dylan was neither quick nor slow to speak, his voice seemed to contain a hint of helplessness and anger.

Kyra let out a long sigh, continuing to struggle to answer Dylan.

“I have been waiting for this day for a long time. The days of suffering and pain have engulfed my life… Dylan, you know very well why I dare not go back there… I have no choice but to stay by Lucas.”

Dylan clenched his fist and furrowed his brow in rage. Dylan has been searching for Kyra's whereabouts for so long, but he has been unable to locate her despite his best efforts. Kyra vanished into thin air like a floating bubble in the ocean. After a long time, Dylan finally received Kyra's distress call today, so he came to this location.

Because Kyra chose to send out the distress signal after she had been burned by Lucas, she sent it out a little too late. Or perhaps, this choice was also in Kyra's mind, she didn't want to continue to exist in this world. The distress signal that Kyra sent out just wanted to call Dylan to come, and if he guessed correctly, Kyra called him because of her young daughter, Miren.

"Your current situation is not good, if you don't do that, I'm afraid your life will not be saved."

Kyra nodded, showing that she understood her situation very well.

“I understand what my body condition is like.”

After a brief pause, she shook Dylan's hand and begged for his assistance.

“By our friendship over the years… Dylan, please save my daughter, protect her, and don't let her get caught by Lucas. I don't want my daughter to have a rich life, but I do want her to have a peaceful life. Dylan, can you chat with me?"

Dylan looked at Kyra, memories from the past appearing. The Kyra of the past is beautiful and cheerful and the Kyra of the present is about to take her last breath. Dylan looked at her for a long time, the feeling of unease that surrounded him making him extremely sad. He considered Kyra a close friend. This life of his also did not have many friends, after Kyra left, Dylan was left alone, alone to face an eternal life full of fatigue.

“Okay, I promise you. I will use my strength to protect your daughter. You can rest assured, I will say it can be done."

It was only now that Kyra's eyes began to sparkle again, and she gently turned to gaze at her daughter. Kyra's freedom has arrived, but her daughter will face a difficult future on her own. Even though Kyra was well aware that she had failed in her role as a mother, she had no choice but to accept her predicament.

Kyra's concern had waned after she received a promise from Dylan. She has complete faith in Dylan's ability to safeguard her daughter.

Kyra's attention was drawn to the frightened child in front of her at that precise moment. Her tiny face has eight parts similar to Kyra. Kyra couldn't help but feel pity for Miren. In her heart of hearts, Kyra felt sorry for Miren. She never hated Miren, even though Kyra was forced into giving birth to her by Lucas. She still adores her daughter inexhaustibly.

The light in Kyra's eyes faded, and she took a deep breath before reaching out to grab Miren's hand and giving her instructions.

“Miren, your days to come will no longer have me by your side. It is both a blessing and a misfortune for you. I'm so sorry I couldn't be by your side and fulfill my duties as a mother. I hope you will live well in the future, live a peaceful life, and don't have to think too much."

She suddenly dropped her hand and her eyes closed as she said that. She exhaled her last gasp and died.

Miren's eyes widened as she realized her mother had abandoned her; she was no longer a child with anyone to turn to for support. She burst into tears and sobbed, jumping into Kyra's arms and hugging Kyra's burnt black body. Miren was surrounded by feelings of pain and helplessness, and she didn't know why she was still there.

Miren's petite frame was suddenly cradled in the palm of a large hand. Miren could feel the trembling in the man holding her. Dylan and Miren, are both trembling at Kyra's painful death.

Miren felt like she was about to drown when she grabbed a big piece of wood, she turned around, bursting into tears as she buried her face in Dylan's lap. Her cry was so loud, it was like a scream full of pain, tearing Miren's immature throat. She kept crying, she kept crying, her painful cry made everything in pain.

Agonizing sobs rang out for a long time before she passed out from exhaustion. Crying was pouring down her smeared face, and she had puffy eye corners. When a five-year-old child witnesses his biological father murder his biological mother, he experiences a pain that few people can comprehend.
