Duncan

The pain stung his face, and the anger that burned in Erin's eyes a minute ago was now replaced with remorse as she held her hand to her chest.

He winced, rubbing the affected area as they stood in utmost silence, watching each other. He had recalled her to be the girl he saved that night from his pack, but he wasn't expecting a thunderous slap like that.

"I'm sorry," she finally said, water brimming in her eyes as she took baby steps close to him and reached a hand to his face. "Here, let me see that."

"It's fine." Duncan shook his head, moving back to avoid her touch in case it was another slap.

"No, let me see it." She spoke softly, and her voice reminded him of cymbals.

He stood still, catching sight of her hand making its way up his cheek. She cupped it lightly, and once their skin touched, his heart pumped blood faster into his veins, and his mind was overwhelmed with flashes of a pair of eyes he always saw in his dreams.
