ander's pov (year 1753)
I was reviewing some papers in my office when I heard a knock resound from the door. Pieces of the puzzle were finally getting in place and very soon my plans would be completed. It had taken about 100 years but the time for the execution of my plans was drawing nigh.
"Come in" I said. From the faint, almost rushing heartbeat I heard from behind the door, I knew it was Anconeus.
"Milord, the blood slaves have been carefully directed in the castle and the new batch of fresh blood is being coordinated as we speak."
"Hmmm....." I muttered calmly and thoughtfully, rubbing my index finger against my chin while slowly taking sips of scotch from the glass in my other hand.
"And the other matter Anconeus?"
"We have found the girl Milord but we are not sure she can use her powers. Also, the curious thing is she's a vampire as well"
My brow quirked up at this.
"She hasn't shown any normal vampire signs like feeding and she works in a clinic in the village as the village doctor" Anconeus said more confidently.
"Curious"I muttered more to myself.
"Yes curious indeed Milord. The girl doesn't seem to know of the power she possesses but I feel it is futile pursuing her for your interests based on a hunch that she has what we need. Milord, why waste such valuable time and resources when she might prove useless. I think...."
"Enough!!!" I shouted slamming my palm forcefully on the table before me.
Anconeus shrunk backwards from the front which he had moved to in his little bout of wisdom.
"I do not need you to feel and neither are you here to think. I see no need explaining my reasons to you. Know your place servant" I growled out lowly,my eyes flickering from their normal grey to blood red and back again.
"Mi...Milord.." he stuttered
"I shall have your head servant if you utter another useless word" I growl shouted moving up a little from the leather chair I was sitting on looking at him dead straight in the eyes.
"I'm sorry Milord"
"You should be" I spat out and sat back comfortably on my chair.
"Now get out of my sight!"
"Yes Milord" he said and hurriedly left my office.
Seeing he had gone out, I rubbed my temple and sighed. What if that dimwit were right? Had I been wasting time on the wrong person when I could have probably tried finding someone else.
Aarrrrgh!!!
This whole thing was starting to make me question the whole plan I had set up in place.
Gulping down the rest of the scotch in my glass, I rose from my plush chair and made my way out of my office which was dimly lit up only by the lantern at my desk.
I closed my door behind me and went towards the one's door. I couldn't hear her heartbeat from within so I guessed she must be in the dining room taking breakfast. After all,I was 15 minutes behind from when the servants had had me informed that breakfast had been served.
Sure we were vampires, undead if u may but our mortal bodies needed human food. Without blood we might die of true hunger but without human food, we would just shrivel up in appearance and look more or less more dead than we usually looked.
We would also grow weak.
Without blood, our bodies dried up and we lived in a state of constant and endless excruciating pain.
Blood directly from the source was always much better though it left us momentarily crazed and on a temporal high and want for more.
I decided to go downstairs and have a meal before meeting with my grand uncle Ruldus Rage;the Rage family council member.
Ruldus Rage was a cunning, grumpy old vampire who was as old as the beginning of vampires themselves. He had a way of making you feel rather unsettling in his presence. We as Rage children, great up hearing about the massacres he had conducted in his day, and though in awe of hearing his deeds, we knew he wasn't one to be tampered with and we approached him with complete caution and fear.
I hated the old buffoon but he played an important role in my plans. With the indecisiveness I felt at the moment concerning the girl, despite how much I hated to admit it, I wanted his opinion on things plus feedback on council findings.
Seeing my beautiful sister Alexia sitting on the table and chatting comfortably with her serving maids, a small hidden smile replaced the frown which usually marred my cold features.
"Good morning princess" I said and kissed her cold cheek.
"Good morning brother" her soft voice said.
She smiled which quickly disappeared once she realized what I had called her.
"Xander!" She whined.
"Don't call me princess anymore. I'm not a baby anymore" she said with a pout.
Her serving maid had thought it wise to leave the room while this interaction was going on. They knew better. The last one who dared hesitate to leave had been a very sumptuous meal to the very hungry and very pregnant Azrah.
I laughed. I rarely laughed. I only genuinely laughed or smiled around Alexia and Ben. Been was my best friend.
"You know, you would always be a little princess to me Lexi" I said and made my way to my chair at the head of the table calmly checking what was for breakfast before eating.
"But Xander..."
"After the meal Lexi."
She poured a little before continuing her meal while I ate with a little smile adorning my face.
I knew what she wanted. I was just waiting for her to tell me. Alexia was too much.
It felt like just yesterday when she was but a messy little thing who messed up files in my office and pulled on my hair. As a baby, Alexia loved pulling on my hair. Sometimes, she would refuse to eat or sleep if I wasn't there to tuck her in, expressing her complaints in bouts of very loud crying.
It was quite annoying to say the least. But I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Now she was a very beautiful black haired woman with the most adorable smile. She was a pain in my bum most times but who's complaining? I loved it.
She finished her meal and was at my side in a flash. Good thing I was done too.
"Brother.. brother!"
I rose and started making my way out of the dining room.
"Yes princess"
She groaned but didn't complain. What she wanted was probably extremely important. Well,it was.
"Xander, you know my 100th birthday is coming up in three months time and you said you will make it the best birthday in Nyrvaria and the ball will be so grand, people will talk about it for centuries" she said excitedly with a glow in her green eyes.
I smiled.
"I did?"
"You did" she laughed out.
"I did. I said so."
" So, since you accept you said so, I spoke to Aunt Relindis and she said balls like these usually took more than three months of planning if you want it to be as grand as they say. There's the food, there's the dress....oh...the dress...." Her eyes glazed up
I just listened amusedly and attentively. Lexi would have my head if I didn't pay attention.
"...the dress has got to be perfect. Then there's the supply of blood, the drinks, the music..."
"I get it Lexi" I cut her off while smiling.
"You shall have it all. The perfect party for the perfect sister." I said and stroke her cold cheek.
She beamed.
"I'll get to Aunt Right away. Have a nice day Xander" she said, kissed my cheek and hurried off.
I just shook my head.
Making my way out of the dining room, I went to the living room where I saw Ben lounging on one of the chairs talking to a maid and making her blush.
Ah Ben.....
Elle's pov"Good morning Leatisia" I greeted as I got into the fairly sized space I called my clinic. I owned it and worked there. I said I worked there but as the village doctor,I found myself serving people more often outside or in their homes than in the clinic. The villagers were still getting used to the idea of having a particular place where you always have to go to get treated rather

Elle's povA few patients had been coming in... surely to see how a clinic works and get treated. I used herbs that I grew and plants from the forest surrounding my house to treat them. I used a little magic too but no one had to know that. People didn't have to know of my warlock heritage. To them, I'll just be the vampire doctor who treated them and who lived with her dying father and frien

Xander's povMaking my way out of the house, the cool crisp air hit my face. I had spent a huge portion of my normal life here but I would never regard it as home. I had forgotten what a home felt like.
Xander's pov"....your sister has been poisoned" he let out in a breath.WHATTTT!!!
Xander's POVI closed the door behind me and moved towards Lexi's bed in great trepidation. I was so afraid. I was scared even breathing wrong might kill her.
Elle's POV"Okay Adrian...open up slowly.... Slowly..." I chided to Adrian Monrov to open his mouth for me to check his throat and see if any abnormalities had come out there. He had been complaining of a sorethroat.I was suspicious it had something to do with his condition.
Xander's pov, year, 1753Hectic. Life was hectic. That was as best as I could describe the past weeks and my life in general. My Elle. I had al
Xander's povMy heart was racing, my pulse was throbbing, my hands were clammy, a few beads of sweat decorated my forehead and the mixture of fear and anger coursing through my veins made me nauseous.
Xander's povThe last month with Elle had been the best of my life. Being bonded; soul bonded with her was the most incredible feeling in the world. I could feel what she felt and she could feel mine. I could listen to her thoughts and she could listen to mine. We were one. Truly one.
Xander's pov"Oh Xander!!" Elle exclaimed and threw herself at me, encasing me in a very warm and very comfortable hug taking me by surprise.O
Xander's povThis morning had been intense. I was so not expecting Elle to react that way. The funny part is I don't even know what I had done wrong. I did not think of her as weak. At all. She was actually much stronger than the rest of us. Or maybe, in a way, her strength was her weakness.
Elle's povI walked through one of the secret pathways in Xander's estate greatly missing him as he was away on council business. I prayed he was safe and his plans were successful.
Xander's povThe tension in the room completely shifted and focused on our one uninvited guest. The difference this time was he couldn't be killed and his body discarded like the silly human of earlier in the day.
Xander's povThe whole room erupted in rowdy disagreements and sides were taken as sides argued against other sides. Ben and I sat amidst the chaos and observed. Silence in such a situation was the best response.
Xander's pov"All rise" the court herald boomed in a loud timbre and we all stood solemnly. Almost immediately, the members of the council strode in majestically with airs of confidence, pride and aged wisdom. The acted like they owned the place. Well, technically they did but still...
