I stay silent, refusing to give Freya a reaction. Maybe this is her idea of a joke. To find some way to break my defences, but I'm going to satisfy her.
Her cold, menacing eyes cut through mine.
This moment feels familiar.
One creature against another. We glare at each other with a powerful aura of submission thickening in the air around us.
Before I know it, we're in an intense power-struggle that breathes life into my soul, screaming to win. Only I wish I can say it's easy.
She's too powerful.
Unlike Kyro, this woman's gaze burns with only evil.
3rd POV. The crimson skies bleed in the form of soft, delicate raindrops. The forest immerses in an anxious breath, scarred by Freya's lingering touch.Jaxson watches Valerie huddle into herself. Her body shivers so intensely that her cells cry for rest.In Jaxson's long lifetime, he stands over her, powerless. He can't understand the situation, or what is happening to his precious mate? Crystals cling to her body. Her once entirely creamy-white complexion paints dark red, almost blue.If he doesn't act soon, she'll die!He doesn't hesitate when his large arms curls around her small-figure, ignoring the scorching burn sizzling along his skin.
"Are you sure this is wise, Brother?" Grayson sighs. Valerie, Sophia, Dylan, Jaxson, and even Theia rowed along a cerise ocean. The air rang with an eerie silence, and fog slithered across the sea in soft, concise strokes.Grayson's words break them from the silence hanging in the atmosphere for the better half of two hours. They'd have warped across the river, but none have been to the deadly island enough times to reach it. In Jaxson's long life, he has only ever visited once."No. But it is the only option," Jaxson grumbles, Theia's small body huddled between the two large males, her arms wound around Jaxson's leg as his body comforted her from the cold, harsh breeze stinging the air. They had no choice but to bring her, as she threatened to follow them some w
3rd POV. Daily updates from here. Enjoy :)"Any moment now, they'll come for us. Because the Harpies are agents of the mighty fucking Zeus, we can only hold them off. Murdering them will only be a last resort. Also, we're next to indestructible, so I'll be your shield, Little human," Grayson smirks.Theia smiles gently, trying desperately to hide the fear captivating her eyes, as Grayson curls his arms around her tiny figure.Jaxson hides Valerie, and Sophia and Dylan curl their arms around each other. Loud, bird-like shrieks wailed from the skies. The harpies have smelt their new arrivals. It was impossible for them to not. The birds have never felt anything so consumed in sin before, until now. Their claws practically burned to tear the skin from their bodies.Once the group stood in the glittering black sand surrounding the Island, the Harpies began their descent. A Harpy landed with a loud thud, directly across from Jaxson, who
Moments feel like hours. Jaxson's body burns with anguish as both he and Fenrir feel the light she ignited wither away. "Valerie-… Just a little longer. Please!" Jaxson words fall into a desperate plea, refusing to believe this is it for her.But it's hard to accept that when her lips, skin, and hair are all frozen. Her body is still. Inert. Dead. She's dead."V-Valerie," Theia whispers. She falls to her knees beside her head. Neither acknowledges the flock of Harpies watching them. They're pleased to realise they didn't waste their sister's life, that they too feel the sting of losing a comrade. Their only regret is they hadn't been the ones to deliver the final blow. Oh well, as hard as it is for them to face, the Qusayr will always be superior.
We're back to Valerie's POV. Enjoy :)My eyes shoot open as the silence envelops my existence; It rings so loud that my ears bleed. It feels uncomfortable. Foreign. Lonely.Suffocating! My mind is hazy, and my head is pounding. I cannot seem to form any thoughts. Everything looks like a blur…I float through the darkness like a ghost. Unseen and lost. This must be what death feels like, right?Distant noises of laughter capture my attention. Not just one, but multiple voices echo all around me – Why does this feel familiar?
I didn’t expect to hear her voice. Every cell in my body explodes with happiness. I wait for what feels like decades to listen to her voice once more.I try to call out for her, but the words weren’t forming. Was I imagining it? No, I can’t have. It felt too real. It felt how it used to.As I panic in the blackness, a familiar light reaches out to me. Nia calls my name once again. The gentleness of her tone finds me in the darkness – as it did once before.“Valerie!” She calls louder. I reach out with greedy hands. Desperate and excited.I don’t need to reach for when the light curls around me. My body feels relaxed in this place. Nothing hurts. I
I awake in a cave; three masked figures stand around me, and Dylan lay unconscious beside me. What the hell?!“Valerie!” A familiar voice screams. Before I know what’s happening, Theia throws her arms around me. She sobs into my shoulder as I try to comprehend what just happened.Selene. My mother. Orion.Triplets!Nothing no longer makes sense. Not only did nothing make sense, I feel different. Before anyone can breathe another word, I feel a familiar presence. It came from all around the cave, throwing me off for a second before the realisation dawns on me.Behind me!
Note: there will be a mid-chapter POV change. Enjoy :)_________“So… You’re alive.” Charming murmurs, unlike before, he keeps his distance. I take a step to him, but he takes one back. His action causes me to stop. It’s then, as my gaze burns through his, I see his honest feelings swirl tightly in his amber eyes, and I’m only able to say one thing. “I’m sorry.”He laughs, the sound humourless. “Sorry? I lost you once. I mourned you. You came back, and I was so fucking ecstatic. I thought it’d be like the old days. I-I thought we could be Charming and Wolfe. But while I would die for you, while I love you, I realise you don’t care about us - you never will.”“Of course, I do…” I try to defend myself, but he yells.“Don’t! Just don’t. How can I believe that when only you want is to die? Look at you...! You&rsquo
Well shit, its the end!Damn, I really enjoyed writing this novel. I loved the lessons its taught me and I love the person I've become through writing this book. Especially Valerie. I love who she's become. I love she's finally able to trust those around her, I love that she continues to fight no matter how much times life interferes, intent and making her stay down!I wanted a character who doesn't hide their emotions, a character who embraces them but is also burdened by them. I wanted a character who wore her heart on her sleeve no matter how dangerous it was especially in a cruel world.I think thats what was so special about her, she wore her feeling like armour and it was beatiful and dark. And it was weak, and it was strong. And it was dangerous, and it was safe.Damn, what the fuck am I doing in my feeling?! I'm getting tiery eyed over here.Comment what you loved most about the novel in general and tell me who your favourite characte
A soft chuckle escapes my lips as a warm hand sits on my shoulder. I don't know why I'm laughing. But I can't help myself, and I can't stop. "Nieve..." "I-I'm s-sorry..." I try to stifle my laughter, holding my stomach as tears threaten to fall. Happy or sad - I have no fucking idea. Either way, I can't stop. She's gone. Theia's gone - as fate so cruelly ordained. I laugh - because once again, they won. Those three spinsters were playing with Theia's life like it was a game to them. They played with mine, and they played with Freya's. Theia, as the oldest sister - cursed, to only feel loneliness and death.
I blink, laying in a meadow that seems to reach for miles. My head on my arms, finding shapes in the clouds to occupy my thoughts. It feels nice here. It feels peaceful. I tilt my head to the side and reach out towards a Daisy when a familiar voice reaches my ears. "So, you're finally awake," I jump slightly, shocked by the intrusion into my thoughts. My mind and body relax instantly, recognising the voice. "Oh, it's just you. You scared me!" I accuse, a smile splitting across my face. She tilts her head, her arms wrapped behind her back, holding her smile. "Really? I'm sorry," she giggles, not at all sorry. Standing up, I brush the dirt off my dress only to tilt my head staring at myself for what feels like the first time. My hands, legs and feet - they're small? I realise I'm a kid again. Wait-... again? "I think I've been dreaming," I speak my thoughts without fear, holding her soft hazel orbs with my amethyst ones.
Nia withdraws back into the safety of my mind, so now I sit on the cave grounds watching in absolute shock the power extruding from Freya. It momentarily occurs to me I'm naked, but the current circumstances prevent me from caring.Freya tilts her head and stares at the roof, blinks, and it all shatters. Jaxson is already over me, holding me bridal style and disappearing into the blackness. But as soon as we all attempt to disappear, we're forced out. "Don't leave yet, little sister. You and I - we have a prophecy to fulfil," Freya chuckles, causing me to freeze."I won't let it come to pass," I snap. Even Freya's voice feels wrong to hear. As I look into her eyes, there is no light - only
There she is, sitting in a monk position, her eyes closed - waiting. A large blue and green bonfire burns behind her, its heat crawling across my skin but, it doesn't burn. Her long icy white hair cascades down her back and sits behind her on cave grounds, relaxed. I know she knows we're here. The cocky curve of her lips proves it.Sophia makes the first move, "Alikurda verous," her voice sounds deeper as her eyes turn blue. Her heels stomp into the ground, and the roof of the cave falls on to Freya.Freya stays in her position, her eyes remaining shut. The stones hover just inches above her head, and her eyes finally flutter open. She sneers, "do not mock me, Witch."She lifts
"Um... who the fuck are you?" A gorgeous woman sits on a chair. Her one leg crossed over the other appearing stoic. Damn, she looks like a warrior goddess - but who the fuck is she, and why is she sitting in my hideout like she owns the damn place?"I am Aurora, Nymph of wind," it suddenly clicks who she is - she's the one Kyro mentioned. In less than a second, her nose is just inches from mine."So... your Brother Kyro's Kefta?" She murmurs, assessing me carefully."Um, yeah - I guess. As nice as this meeting is, shouldn't you be fighting a war about 30 miles west from here?" I drawl. Aroura blinks and pulls away."Ahh, yes. Though Kyro didn't need to blackmail me into it, I w
"You shouldn't be able to do that! Voce de Oracle should only be used once, for a certain time-..." Freya laughs as if realisation dawns on her, "you think, once you're finished with me-... the Gods will let you live with such abilities at your disposal?! Now I understand why you must die, no matter how you planned this battle, the Carson Sisters must not exist - if Fate wills it so!""Say what you will, Freya - I won't fight with you," I spit. Maybe she's right. But I've already made my peace with death - haven't I?No! I'm supposed to return to Theia. I'm supposed to confess to Jaxson. I want to live, but not if it means joining forces with Freya. Before I can say a word, Kyro's hand sits on my shoulder, "Kyro, what are you...?" Freya begins, but we disap
Nia's eyes bleed through mine as power sizzles and cackles around me, "Charge!" Freya seethes.I take a couple of steps forward and make a foreign symbol with my hands that I somehow knew. As I continue to walk, clouds of purple mist float out of me. My body becomes transparent - like a ghost. And Nia's spirit stands tall beside me as we continue to walk.Charming suddenly appears beside me, words of compulsion breezing past his lips that make the mud creatures go crazy. Jaxson and Grayson are next as Sophia floats above us, and with us - our army follows.Slow at first, only to start running. Faster and faster. With every step closer, our purpose only grows fiercer. We clash!&
"Emree! Take Theia to Bloodhound. She'll be safe in my father's office, far enough from here," I order, pushing Theia towards Emree, but Theia resists holding onto my arm."No! I'm staying with you!" She yells. Her gaze burns into mine with determination. I can hear shouts and scream coming from the distance, and I resist the urge to run towards it, falling on to my knees beside Theia to cup her small face."Listen to me, do you trust me?" I ask. She blinks, taken by surprise."Of course I do, but I want to protect you. What if something happens...!" Theia falls into a rant. I can clearly see worry reflect in her eyes."Look, whatever happens, happens. I can't predict the end o
