Shirley shook her head to clear it after hearing her colleague Mike call her. She was still having a hard time believing what she had recently seen on the news broadcast. Mike, worried about her, moved his chair closer and took her hands in his palms. He had always had a crush on her from the first day she came to work in their company but was bidding his time for the right moment to confess his feelings to her. She always thought it mysterious how Vinca disappeared. "I am sure there must be foul play somewhere", she said turning to look at Mike "Why don't we go visit her parents after work? Maybe they have heard from her" Mike knew how much Shirley hurt over her best friend's disappearance. She had been unsettled ever since that broadcast. She was one person who never liked Damont from the first time she met him. She had tried to tell her friend that Damont gave her very negative vibes, but Vinca brushed off her friend's intuition, terming it as jealousy. They almost had a falling out because of this issue, so Shirley decided to let it rest, not wanting to lose her best friend. Mrs. Chase was seated in the living room having a glass of orange juice. Since the news broadcast, her health had improved tremendously which was a huge relief for her husband. He had stopped attending to his company to take care of his wife ever since she fell ill after their daughter's disappearance. As Shirley and Mike were ushered in by the house help, Mr. Chase got up to welcome them. He knew Shirley would come as soon as she saw the news about Vinca. The two of them were childhood best friends and were inseparable since the first day they met in kindergarten. "What's going on, Dad? Have you heard from Vinca?" She always regarded them as her second parents and was very close to them. Mrs. Chase shook her head sadly. "What about you, has she contacted you?" She turned to look at her husband, "Should we send our people to look for her"? "No, please, Mum, her life could be in danger" Shirley jumped in. She felt it odd that Vinca had contacted neither her nor her parents. With the mystery surrounding her disappearance, maybe it was better for her to take the initiative to contact them. Mike felt this was the best solution too. If the news was true, then Vinca was better off where she was until the truth was unveiled. Mrs. Chase clutched at her husband's hand in despair. What amazed them was that Damont had only visited his in-laws once since Vinca's disappearance. Mr. Chase had a foreboding feeling, wishing he had never made that deal with Damont. ***** Nice County is so named because its place is only for good. The crime rate is at zero, everybody knows each other, and peace is the order of the day. People here are always smiling and being nice. Every single weekend, people gather at the town square for merry-making. The last time a criminal gang tried to invade Nice County, the whole town rose up and physically beat them up. They then faced the wrath of the county police who had their own way of dealing with criminals. They were never heard from again. Legend has it that there is a secret police force that is activated the few times crime occurs in Nice County. Once a criminal goes missing, not even the family is given the privilege to file a missing persons report. Nobody knows who they are or where they operate from. This is one reason why Nice County remains nice; the fear of being caught by the special police force Bernice was settled in her Aunt's guest room. Her father felt this was the only place that could straighten up his daughter. Bernice thought otherwise. She was not going to forget the shame and humiliation that she had gone through and she was going to take her revenge, the cost regardless. Bernice tried calling Storm but his phone didn't go through. "The fool has the guts to block me," she thought. Next, she called her underlings. Even though she had been banished, she still had people who could help her get revenge. ***** Vinca had a splitting headache. It came all of a sudden and the pain was so intense that she had to curl up on the floor. Leo was passing by her office when he saw her lying down. Shouting for Frost, he rushed to her side as Frost stormed into the office. He picked her up and laid her on the couch as Leo called the company doctor.
