The climb was just a single climb but it felt like she had climbed forever. Her face was covered in sweat and she had begun zipping down the zip of her heavy gown.
Her eyes blinked numerous number of times as sweat drops re shaped her eyelids. At that moment, she began to plead with her creator for her to get to her room quickly so she could get out of the heavy gown and step into a cold bath.
“How long more do I have to walk before getting to my room?” She found herself asking.
“Not too long.” The one who walked beside her replied and she groaned aloud. That was a word to tell her that there was more than a long way to go for her before she could reach her room. When she looked at the servants that were assigned to her, she shook her head.“No wonder they are so tiny.” She muttered to herself and kept following them. The maids looked trustworthy but then she still needed to be alert. She couldn’t trust them easily even if she was in desperate need of allies in that house.Yes! On a mission such as hers, required that she made enough trust worthy allies in that family, so the plan could go smoothly. The two in front of her, were the ones she was going to be seeing more often. She needed to bond with them and make them her allies, but as usual, she couldn’t think of trusting them immediately because she was very much skeptical of her surroundings.“I see why Master Ramon chose to marry you. You are very charming and you look a lot like our first Mistress.” One of the maids said and the other nodded in agreement.“She’s so right. You look so much like her that we had to realize that you are actually her sister.”“You see, Miss Violet. Master Ramon, after the death of his wife, your sister, he decided not to remarry. It was a painful shock to the whole family that she died and a whole mystery.”“So is that why your master’s family came but a week later to inform us of her demise?” Violet asked them ad they looked at each other before nodding.“No one was willing to go to your hometown. They just weren’t prepared for whatever was going to happen. They were mixed with feelings of fear and sadness that summed up to total confusion. Well, Ma’am Ella opted to go but the Master refused.”“Master Ramon thought he could find out the truth behind her death but he found none.”“So he locked himself up, calling himself a bad husband and family head.”“Yes! He believed that his incompetence led to her death and his incompetence helped in not finding the culprits.”“He really had a thing for her, my late sister.”“I believe you meant ‘love’ Ma’am Violet.” The maid air-quoted the love and Violet hissed rolling off her eyes. She never believed in love, not for a single second. However, she loved Connor, a sharp contrast of her ideologies on love. But then, it could still be that she just liked him.
“He did love her very much. Even though they just got married when they barely knew themselves, he loved her very much and took care of her.” Violet just stared at them unbelieving of a single word that came out of their mouths. Even if she was to believe it, she saw no need in them telling her about her husband’s first marriage to her sister.
Yes, another reason why she had to marry Ramon Fridling is because he was married to her sister before. Her elder sister got married into the family five years ago and then it happened years later, about three years ago that her sister died. The thoughts of her sister’s death filled her heart with so much sadness. She didn’t get to see her sister only to welcome the death body of her sister one cold morning. Pain was the only thing you could tell from her face that very day. Her heart was heavy after that very fateful day. No one in the family could smile, but her in laws too were shaken by the death. She had left a child behind; a child not up to five years old. She didn’t even get to enjoy her marriage as she was supposed to, yet she died. She is in the grave, unable to watch her child grow.Ramon Fridling was the only thing in her mind, Violet was hell bent on killing him, it was another mission of hers, to kill Ramon Fridling because he was the reason why Scarlet died. If Scarlet didn’t marry him, she was going to be alive today, but she isn’t.“I must say, it took him a lot to remarry, especially you since you are the first wife’s sister. But I know it is for the good of Clara. The poor girl needs a new mommy and one who will just be like her mom to her. He did well and I know very soon, you both will love each other.” The maid said again and as she mentioned the love part, Violet began to cough violently. She wanted to say ‘IN YOUR DREAMS’ but couldn’t muster the courage to do so. Besides, the ladies in front of her were much more older than her, even though they were such beauties and her maids, she didn’t want to be disrespectful to them.Meanwhile, Aiyana and Marys, the maids Ramon got for Violet looked at each other with questioning eyes. They were mature women whose services were required at intervals. From the rumours they heard about Violet, they expected her to be very harsh towards them. In fact, they were prepared for the outcome of her getting to pour insults on them. They were more than ready to hear her shower them with insults. From the rumours, Violet was a rude lady who didn’t respect her servants, but treat them as trash.
The Violet with them was quite different from the rumours. She was a little polite even though she was still somehow rude, but she didn’t express it the way the rumours claimed she would. Rather she treated them like her elders, respecting them and just letting them to talk about her sister without interfering.‘Maybe, she is brewing a storm for us.’ Aiyana thought and just kept walking till they reached a certain door.“This will be your room.” Aiyana told Violet who gasped for a infinitieth time in that evening.Violet gasped at the door in front of her. Of course she was expecting a heaven as her room but the door of what she imagined as her heaven, was far too big for her little mind to contain. It was thrice the size of the door she had imagined will be her room. After entering the house and seeing how vast it was, she began imagining how her own inner space will look like. She imagined her inner space to have a door, gigantic, just one opening, brown in colour and super thick. She imagined it to have yellow flower patterns and then also green plant patterns. She imagined her bedroom to be really big, twice her bedroom back at her hometown, with a king-sized four post bed in the middle of the room. She wanted to have a very large window that could allow her to view the garden and the big fountain that was situated at the entrance of the house. She was so happy with her imaginations but what was before her was more than her imaginations.&nbs
•••“We are sincerely sorry, Ma’am Violet. You weren’t supposed to get close to the door, but Aiyana insisted on letting you get close. Your sister’s room is permanently closed and her keys are with Sir Ramon. He holds the keys to her bedroom and no one, not even us can get into the room.” Marys said. The ‘Not even us’ part made her realize that these two weren’t just seen as maids, they seemed to be more. The door, the heaviness in her heart, the unexplainable sadness, everything made sense to her now. She was feeling that way, because of the bond she and Scarlet share as sisters. She might be death, but they are still sisters and their bond hence is still strong. She had thought of so many reasons but she never thought of the fact that the door opposite was the door leading to her sister’s bedroom.Seeing a property of her sister once
She shook in her sleep, moving her head about on the pillow, sweat covered her face and neck and her hair was scattered over the bed pillow. She turned once and then twice and then thrice, to the left, to the right and back to the left, repeating the cycle even more faster. After a few seconds, Violet completely opened her eyes and woke up, sitting upright, panting heavily like she was running, but, she was sleeping. She had been dreaming...“But it felt so real.” She looked at her night gown and it was soaking wet. Did she sweat that much in her sleep? She wondered and then checked the blanket. It was also wet but not as wet as the thin dress on her body. She opened her eyes like she got stung. “Why does it feel wet under me?” She asked herself and quickly got up from the bed to see it soaking wet.“No way, this can never be sweat. Did I sweat this much? Or did I wee on t
As they stepped out of the elevator into the big living room, Violet gasped and dropped her sari to the ground. This was more than awesome and words couldn’t even describe how the sitting room was. it was more than amazing, more of a fairy tale than reality. Everything in the house still got her wondering what the family could do as work that gave them the opportunity to live in such great fortune. At least her family owns farms back in her village but as for them, she has no clue.“The whole family must be waiting for you.” Aiyana told her and then they turned to the left of the large dining room. Indeed the whole family was waiting for her because her coming brought silence in the dining.“And finally, our sleeping beauty wakes up from her deep sleep.” Ramon’s mother jokes and the whole table joins in her smile, resuming their chatter. Ella, Ramon’s elder sister was the only one who didn&rsqu
“I said let me be. I want to see my father.” Little Clara cried as the maids carried her away. Her long jet black hair flipped as she turned her head trying to squeeze herself from their grasps, giving it an impression of a golden hue. Actually, it wasn’t an impression at all, it seemed as if her jet black hair was becoming golden.“Did her hair just turn golden or my eyes deceive me?” Violet asked. She was certain there was some golden transformation of the child’s hair.“Just your eyes deceiving, Milady. The child has shiny black hair, similar to her dad’s own and so it tends to give you impressions whereas it is not the case.”“But I must say Milady, Clara is a difficult child.” Marys stated. Flashes of the recent incident crossed her mind. Violet decided to walk on her own, besides her personal maids needed to attend to the “pressing” matters that seemed to be happening. She just walked away from them but not without looking at Clara who looked around with intense murderous looks.Thinking about it, when Connor caught her that day, she had a glimpse of his eyes changing impressions. They turned blue and red but were more gentle and not fierce. It should be something this family shares as a trait which she doesn’t find surprising, rather.Perhaps her surprise the previous evening and that morning was because she wasn’t expecting a drama immediately after her wedding. However, this family had skeletons in their cupboards that she was yet to expose to sunlight, her sunlight. Chaos! Disaster! Instill fright! Those were the sole purposes of the enemy. But in this case, the enemy was after something, something Violet was after coincidentally. They stood in an empty room, as a circle, with black hoods covering their faces. Not a single one of them could be seen. In the middle of the circle which they formed, stood a crystal ball. One that could aid them monitor movements and even communicate with their boss. As of now, they had just finished monitoring Clara and immediately, everything went dark as silence slowly crept in. Not long after, a voice, deep, husky and scary, could be heard through the ball. “The kid has potential.” The voice said and they all bowed unanimously, in approval. One of them cleared his throat and spoke. “Yes master. She has great potential, she displays everything we need in the family vessel. Could she be the one? Should we go for her?” The man asked but judgi
Why was he calling her now, at this time? Couldn’t he have waited much longer before he called. She knew very well why he had to call her and she wasn’t ready to answer his call, especially not in a corridor as this. The walls could sell her out and she be thrown out of that hose without accomplishing a single mission, to her parents who might just kill her. She was powerful but not enough compared to her father. She could not measure up to him and besides, even if she went to any part of this world, he would still find her and kill her if she ever tries to run after a failed mission. She quickly ran to her room, entered inside and locked the door, ensuring one last time that the door was locked. Luckily for her, the phone stopped ringing but she was shocked when the call came back not too long after. She swallowed nervously and answered the call. “H-Hello!” she answered and silence was the answer she got.
