NYX
They had dragged her away from the dungeon as early as the day had brightened. She thought she was being sent to work as a slave in the palace but imagine her surprise when she stood before a huge number of pack members she did not know and how the guards who had brought her out pushed her to her knees roughly. Her eyes glanced at the glistening huge and sharp edged blade that rested on one of the holds, and she immediately understood what was about to happen. She was about to be beheaded, and that too in front of these people. Her heart skipped a beat, fearing that the end has finally come. She was going to die. Death kept chanting in her head and when she was tackled against, one of the guards had her hands tied behind her and she tightened her eyes waiting for her death."Kill her!""Kill her!""Kill her!"They all chanted as she knelt before them with her head hung low. Her wet hair clung to her face as her heart hammered against her chest over and over again. Her hands were tied behind her and her legs were shackled with huge chains that sent bristle shock through her body. Her throat kept bobbing. It has finally come to this. She thought to herself."Alpha King, your command." The headsman asked, his voice rough and cold like ice. As if he was not about to behead her a living sacrifice to whatever celebration was going on.The Alpha King rose to his feet and raised his golden cup up towards the sky. Everyone began to cheer again and it soon went silent."We hereby behead this filthy Omega to serve as a sacrifice for any evil that might befall my sister, Selda."He tipped his chin. "Go ahead."The headsman received the order with a curt nod of his own and as he raised the huge blade up, everyone went silent as they watched, anticipating to rejoice at the living sacrifice. She tightened her eyes and laid her neck more properly, and she clenched her sweaty hands behind her. She did not have any last words so she kept quiet. Not like she lived some good life.Just as he was about to slam it against her neck, a stone from somewhere flickered across and hit the blade. The headsman lost his target and the blade fell from his hand with a thud and his hand went paralyzed instantly, it shook as if currents were running through that hand.Everyone gasped and turned to the one who had dared to interrupt the session. It was him. Zenith. He stood there with a hard look itched on his face as he stared at the figure who knelt before people, waiting to be beheaded. When she saw that nothing was coming close to her neck, she opened her eyes and glanced around, only to see the shock on people's faces and as she looked at the one place everyone faced, her heart skipped a beat and her lips parted as recognition set in.He... He was her mate. The Lycan King was her mate. How did he become her mate? She was wolfless. Why was he not trying to protect her from being killed? She had several questions coming in from her head and she could not help the way her stomach dropped in pain."Lycan King," Lionel rose to his feet, an angry expression on his face. "And what is this? Why did you interrupt my ceremony?" He asked, his eyes changing between his wolf's color and his. Zenith tipped his chin and held his hands behind him.Griselda also seemed shocked, disappointment clouded her face. Why was the man she wanted to marry protecting some slave?"I just wanted to say that it would be a waste of blood killing someone for my wedding, don't you think I have a say in it?" He asked, his eyes as clear as the sky as he turned to Lionel was trying to hide his anger. After sharing an eye lock for some seconds, Griselda broke the tension and chuckled with an unladylike sound. “You are right!”Zenith’s eyes flicked to her direction for a brief section before returning back to Lionel whose brows twitched and he dropped the golden cup in his hand. He waved his hand to dismiss Nyx but Zenith cut in again. “No, don't dismiss her. I will love to take her. Since she is the living sacrifice for my wedding to your sister. I will love to own her.”That got both Selda’s and Lionel’s attention. Why would he want to take Nyx? Lionel was known to be really possessive of his properties and he would definitely not give Nyx to him.Not saying anything, Lionel came down from his throne and walked towards him with Selda following from behind. “How about we go back into the palace to have a breakfast since you seemed to have interrupted mine?” He asked.Zenith knew that Lionel was angry and he was angrier as he had something else in mind.Zenith led the way and Lionel signaled that they continue the celebration and Nyx was dragged along. They settled in the dining room which was held by four golden pillars. Zenith for once had a thought that the werewolves were quite richer than they are but that could still be uncertain as he did not know the way Lionel and his ancestors has been getting their money.Nyx stood just outside the dining room with her head hung low and her heart skipping multiple beats at a time. Her brain could not process anything that was happening so she stood and waited. It was not like she could run away or escape. She needed an explanation. Her throat bobbed in action as the aroma of the food that was placed on the dining table drifted into her nostrils. Clenching her hands together- they were still tied behind her, she swallowed down the saliva that was forming in her mouth.Zenith flicked a glance her way and she cringed further, bowing a little bit more. He picked a cake from the table and threw it on the floor at her. Lionel, Selda and the rest of the maids that stood there were all in utter shock.A food at the king’s table was thrown at a person that was even less than a slave? It was unheard of.Even the high esteemed workers of the palace knew their boundaries.“And is this you are doing?” Lionel asked, trying to keep his anger in check. Zenith raised an innocent look up at Lionel.“I thought I might as well feed my living sacrifice. At least, she is living.” He responded. Selda laughed again but Lionel cut her a glare that had her keeping shut. Her eyes seemed to glaze over, Lionel was passing a message across to her through a mind link.Nyx was not told, she crouched down and wanted to use her lips to pick the cake since her hands were tied, Selda pulled back her chair and rose to her feet. Nyx continued to struggle with picking the cake. Selda bent down and picked the cake, Nyx stared at her with expectation. She studied it with a clear expression and sent a smile at Zenith who seemed disinterested but his inner Lycan was weirdly fighting against him.It must be because he did not want any harm to come upon Divine. He thought.Selda brought the cake close to Nyx’s nose and then to her lips. As Nyx tried to bite it from her hand, she pulled it away and dropped it to the ground. With a frustrated sigh, Nyx continued to struggle to pick it. She would endure the disgrace for the piece of cake. There was nothing in her stomach and this... This was her only hope to remain sane.Fortunately, she succeeded in picking it up between her teeth but her joy was cut short when something that felt like the shoe pressed her head down the against the tiled floor of the dining room. The cake fell from her mouth and all it left was the sugary and honey taste on her tongue. She forced her eyes up, only to see a smirking Selda.“You are not qualified to eat the food of the living, Omega.” She pressed her head down further, almost flattening Nyx’s head with the floor as she wiggled her feet with her head with the cake on the floor. Nyx could not cry or wince, she bit back the pain and waited till she was done.“I do not stand for a violence when it comes to my breakfast, lunch and dinner. If there was someone you should punish, it should be me since I hurriedly assumed that I was her master and I could treat with a piece of honey sugar cake.” Zenith finally spoke up.Selda gave him a too sweet smile before taking her leg off Nyx’s head. “How dare I do that? You are the Lycan King and my husband to be. I should give you the respect you deserve.” She told him.She was not a bimbo after all. He thought. He lifted his shoulder in a half shrug. “Please have your seat.” He picked another two pieces of cake and threw at Nyx before turning back to Lionel who seemed like he was trying his best to keep the bomb of rage from exploding in him. The maids moved forward but Selda stopped them with a hand raised. Nyx did not waste time as she picked the cake and quickly ate them. She did not care that she was being used as an object of game between them.“Back to what the proposal held,” Zenith took a sip from the wine. “The-”“Are you not worried that the wine might have been poisoned?” Lionel cut in.Zenith’s brows twitched. “Really? Tell me, why do you think I gave the Omega the cake to eat?” He asked, a smug expression visible on his face. After staring at him for a long while, Lionel sighed.“It is not like you would want the trouble that comes with poisoning me.” Zenith added.Lionel, this time, uttered a snort that screamed every bit of incredulity. Zenith’s eyes narrowed at that but he said nothing.“So the proposal held the fact that we will be allied through marriage.” Zenith started.Nyx’s ears rang at what Zenith had said. Was he, not her mate? Who was getting married to who? Why was he yet to acknowledge their mate bond?“Yes, Selda has always had a liking for you and that does not mean I will throw her to you like that. The proposal stands. My wolves are at your beck and call when in war.” Lionel added.Zenith gave a thoughtful nod before that baffling thought came in. “Lionel,” He called his name for the first time and this time it had a dangerous edge to it. Even the maids took a step back and the guards a step forward to protect their king. Nyx scrambled up, watched, and listened but uttered no sound.“I... Don't you think you are not holding your end of the agreement?” He asked, dropping the wine. He had not even touched his food.Lionel seemed confused. “What do you mean?”“I met someone I had thought is dead. I met someone whom I thought had turned to ashes.” He started. Choking tension filled the entire place and everyone held their breaths.“What is my nephew doing in your filthy dungeon, malnourished, fed, and locked with wolfbane?” His brows arched but his fist clenched in anger so much that his knuckles almost whitened.Instantly, a guard rushed in and leaned closer to Lionel’s ears. Anger flashed through his face. They were just bringing him the report of Zenith’s venture down there.“Leave.” Lionel’s rough voice ordered and the guard scurried away. “I-”“I understand. Lycans are gems and it would be only bad if you don't keep them. I won’t be leaving here without my nephew.” He said with a tone of finality.“But-”“You heard me right.” Zenith cut in, not giving him a chance to speak at all.Lionel’s eyes glazed over as he mind linked his guards to bring Divine out. The guards hesitated to go near Divine but after meeting Zenith, his sanity seemed to have returned a bit so they chained him with shackles dipped in wolf bane and brought him to the dining table. Divine’s golden eyes glanced at Nyx who sat on the floor and he made an unnoticed bow to her before looking up. He met Zenith’s cold gaze.“Lionel, I will not count this anything considering we are in for a peace treaty against this common enemy but I assure you that I will get my explanation later.” He rose to his feet and was about to walk out with his nephew and Nyx when Lionel’s voice stopped him.“Lycan King,” He turned his head. “You seemed to have forgotten you came to pick your bride. Not an Omega.” He reminded him. Zenith shook his head and walked back.“You can’t take the three of them away from me. It would be my loss. Take a look, my sister, your nephew, and your slave were mine, and if I can join my warriors too, you have taken every thing that made me the Alpha King. Don't you think it is improper?” He reasoned.“Either you take my sister and your nephew. Or you take that filthy slave and my sister. You leave your nephew.” He told him.Divine’s head slowly turned to Nyx and he twitched as he spoke up for the second time in years. “Zenith, you... You can leave with the both of them. It would be an honor to serve-”“So you can speak?” Lionel’s surprised voice cut in. Apparently, in these years that Divine has been captured by them, he had never uttered a word. All he did was resist them.Zenith said nothing as he could not find a bit of way out of this corner Lionel had pushed him into. There was absolutely no way he could choose just any of them. He did not want to sacrifice any of them. He needed Selda for the power. He needed Divine for his lineage. He needed Nyx for... What?“Lycan King, your timing is running out.” Lionel reminded him.Just as if on cue, Selda jerked up with a smile. “You don't need to pick. I will take the Omega as my slave!”Divine’s head instantly jerked up in shock. Everyone turned towards her in surprise. What did she just say?ZENITH Lionel turned towards her with a glare at what she said. He had wanted to keep one of them, but if she wanted Nyx to come with her, he would lose everything indirectly to Zenith who pretended not to care one bit. "Please, brother. You know I might need one of us there." She begged him, her eyes glinting with a knowing spark and he had an after thought. Nyx would not be Zenith's if she was given to Selda, right? After releasing a sigh, he waved his hands dismissively. Selda gave him an appreciative smile and turned back to Zenith. "Will you sit down? I overheard you telling my brother that you do not want to make this arrangement take a long time, considering that your throne is empty, right?" She said.Zenith returned to his seat and reached out for the golden cup then sipped down the rest of the wine. They continued to discuss the marriage arrangement. Zenith concluded that he would love to get married to her before his pack members back at his pack. Although Lionel did not
"Take the omega slave to the slave quarter," He bit out, his jaw hardened as he tried to tamp down his primal urge. He did not want to acknowledge the bond between them. He did not think he would. Nyx's head fell in disappointment. What did she expect? That he would run into her arms and grab her to himself. He was the Lycan King, she realized that she had to come to terms with that. They led Griselda towards her quarter while Nyx followed the guard who did not even bother to wait for her as he marched. Zenith caught sight of Mathias walking towards him and he relaxed a bit. As soon as Mathias reached, he did not wait to listen to his greeting. "Lycan King-""Take him to the healer right now," Zenith ordered urgently and instantly.Confusion crossed Mathias' face as he looked around for the sign of a person other than Zenith and he found none. "Who am I taking to..." He trailed off as Zenith pulled the door open and Mathias looked inside, shock flashing across his face as he saw Divin
Griselda sat majestically in her chambers as she glanced around the place. The place had a different smell and energy. Like everywhere was filled with eyes and ears. She knew that palaces were no safe places to live or work in but still she was born into this and she knew how to work her way.The guards brought in the luggage she had packed from her place and left it in her room while some maids into work then began to offload them."Be careful not to break any of that. Your life will not be able to pay for it." She sneered, pointing to the golden mirror she had brought. The maid nodded vehemently and carefully placed it down on the vanity."Make sure that gown does not tear or I will have you get the same material which I am sure you don't have here." She said again. She rose to her feet and stared outside through the opened window. The vast land of the king's palace had her thinking if the rumors of the poverty of the Lycans were really true. It has been rumored that the Lycans were
"Your Highness," Cassandra called out from outside his door. Zenith lifted his gaze as he paused from buckling his belt. The shadows of the maids standing outside his room reflected on his door.He finished it up and stood beside his bed. "Come in." He ordered them. The maids walked in, each carrying her tray of meals. Nyx bowed as she entered, the scent of his chambers made her take a deep breath. As she stylishly looked around his room, the way there was hardly anything that made life there made her think that Zenith was filled with even more darkness than his eyes held. His acknowledgment of her was the least of her worries. She never expected a mate but then she was given one and that one turned out to be a lycan King. She knew there was no way he would accept, even if he does, the Lycans won't.One by one, they dropped the trays in their hands and Zenith took a seat on the chair that was already set up in the corner of his room. He did this if he wanted to have a silent and perso
Surprise coated Selda's face as Mathias entered in her chambers, his attire glowing with every bit of masculine beauty. She has heard of him being Zenith's right hand man but has never met him.She rose to her feet and Mathias made a gesture of a curt bow before raising his chin. His eyes slowly perused her appearance for any sign that she might be a 'bimbo' but from what he was seeing, she was just as Zenith had described her."I was told to inform you that you will be introduced to the Clan tonight. His Royalty has decreed that there would be a feast tonight. Please do well to prepare. He has also arranged the dresses which you will have to wear. The seamstress will be here in no time." He told her."Huh?" She was dumbfounded for a few seconds. "I actually brought some dresses from my realm to this place, tell the King that it would be unnecessary of him." She said, recovering after some seconds, adding a bit of a smile.Mathias wanted to scoff at what she said. She was not a bimbo,
The Seven Elders rose to their feet as Princess Griselda passed by them. The smile on her face widened at every step she took. The seven elders smiled at one another at her beautiful image.Selda kept her eyes on Zenith who was also staring back at her. She did not want to feel disappointed because there was no emotion written on his face except his signature blank face.As she reached his front, she bowed with her hands intertwined and rose back. Zenith’s eyes traced the Lycan’s pattern on the purple dress she wore. This was the first time in years he has seen the Purple Lycan dress known for the Female Royals. The golden image of the Lycan’s fang on the dress made his eyes twitch. This fang...“Zenith, you have to greet the ‘bimbo’ Princess.” Mathias’s voice sounded through the mind link.Zenith blinked, the first reaction Selda noticed from him this evening.Grounding his jaw, Zenith rose to his feet and collected Griselda’s hands. She smiled again as he led her to her seat. She sa
“Why do you ask?” He questioned her. He hated the way people were seeming too interested in Divine’s well-being. From the Elders who had their eyes constantly out for him to Lionel’s sister who could be said to be his eye, he needed to be careful.“I just thought I should ask since he seemed to be your only family member.” She smiled, her eyes glowing with a deceitful spark and her brows twitching. He did not find it caring instead he found it cunning. He looked away, his expression schooled into a straight look. “You do not need to worry about that. All you have to worry about is the new burden you will be carrying when you are crowned.” He told her.Griselda smiled, hiding the bite of the pain from his words. He was right, his nephew should be the least of her worries. It was not like he was any useful when he was locked in the underground dungeon and he won’t be even now. After a while, Zenith rose to his feet and walked out of the feast, leaving the Seven Elders and Griselda to en
She tossed and turned in the little space she laid down. Her hands gripped her lower abdomen tight. She was in pain. Full pain. Her face contorted in agony. It felt like every part of her constricted and all she wanted to do was free it. Sweats beaded on her forehead as her eyes darted in their sockets, still closed. This has never happened to her before. Her throat kept bobbing and she did not want to wake up because she slept really late the night before. After Cassandra had pulled her usual trick, she had to redo her chores thrice.Slowly, ever slowly, the pain began to subside and her hands loosened. Her shoulders relaxed and she fell into her beautiful slumber.• • • • • •A kick and a yell made Nyx jerk up from her sleep. Her eyes were still hazy from her sleep but as she glanced around, the pain from the kick slowly began to register, and she instantly gripped her rib tight with a painful wince."Are you blind?" Cassandra's hiss tore through the air and she raised her gaze to me
Finish what she started. Did she hear wrong or did she need to get her ears checked by the royal doctor?“If you make me repeat myself, you will have yourself to blame, Slave.” He bit out, his gaze clouded with rage and lust as he peered down at her.Nyx did not know what to do as she stared at the bulge between his legs. Thankfully, Cassandra had been unable to pull off his clothes. Just that band around his waist.“Slave, if—”She didn't let him complete his words as she fell to her knees and slid her hands up to his bulge, holding it between her tiny hands. It felt huge and her tongue swiped over her lower lip in savory. He let out a groan at that gesture of hers and he jerked into her touch. She flinched a bit before she recovered and began to work his bulge through the soft material. He pushed into her with even more force and when she noticed he was becoming restless, she quickly loosened the string around his waist and pulled his thick, long bulge out.Precum covered the pink
Zenith watched the Healer walk into his study room with keen eyes. What he was doing here? Mathias went to stand beside him, also staring at the Healer like his coming was ominous, which it was.“Your Highness,” The Healer greeted with a slight bow, his eyes glinted with the familiar purple color from behind cloak he used to cover his face. Zenith had always been weary of the man since he saved him from the fire years ago and he knew he had to meet him to take care of Divine also.“You coming here must definitely not to greet me if I was right?” Zenith asked, picking up the scrolls before him and putting them into the rack. The healer smirked. “Definitely not, Your Highness. I came here, bearing great news but before I proceed. Where is that Nephew of yours? It has been so long since I saw the creature that I mended myself.” Zenith’s eyes flickered at the term he used to describe Divine but he said nothing. “He is not allowed in the throne room unless he is being summoned. Please g
Zenith sat in his study room, going through the scrolls. He has been receiving news from the other part of the Lycan lands that the blight was starting to grow even wilder. He had sent Mathias to check it and the report he came back with was devastating so he sent a few of the royal doctors to the place to control it even if they could not heal them. He had been so burdened and yet he did not have anyone to talk to about his burden. He just had to keep it in by himself and tried hard to work it out, not like there were any differences. Nyx pushed open the door and stepped in, the simmering tea in her hands oozed with heat as she walked closer to him. The cold season was creeping in on them and they were slowly preparing for it. The furry coats were going to be brought soon to the palace. Her stiff hands gently dropped the cup before him and his steely eyes darted toward her, watching her bow then take a step back. He waited for a while before he carried the cup and in the blink of
Selda sat down, staring into the empty dark space. Her eyes held void as her body remained limp at the spot. She had been there for days now and was already used to the deep darkness. There was nothing but hatred and revenge twirling within her orbs. There were no thoughts apart from the ones of deep retribution toward the Zenith’s Land. She was going to ruin in ways no one had ever thought of. She would break down the empire he had so much built with all his efforts. She will make sure he regrets the decision to marry her. She would show why Lionel had chosen her. That reminded her. Was her brother aware that Zenith had her locked in there and he pretended not to know? She knew her brother’s spies were in the palace and she had been trying to figure them out but they had been doing a good job of hiding themselves. It was good for them but worse for her because she needed to meet them for a little chat. Her fist clenched tight as she heard the squeaking of tiny rats. She wanted to cry
"If you are any second late, you will be the one doing what she is supposed to do." He threatened her, making her heart skip. She could only obey him so she rose to her feet and hurried out of the place, fear ripping through her yet she was tempted to disobey him so he could punish her.Was she being delusional right now?She shook her head as she hurried toward the concubine's chamber. She stopped when she noticed the maid standing outside. "Is the King's concubine inside?" She asked slowly, dread filling her stomach at the thought of another woman satisfying her mate. Another session of pain pricking her to go through. She could only secretly feel like this. She should not. He had rejected her secretly and want nothing to do with her. There was absolutely no one she could talk to about it, not the head maid, not even Divine. She was here, all alone and with the Head Maid's warning still ringing in her ears."Yes, you may go in." The maid informed and she walked in, surprised at the b
Weeks have passed and Nyx could not bring herself to come face to face with Divine. She had been avoiding his chambers like it carried some sort of plague. Even to see Zenith, she made sure she did not have a reason to walk by his chambers and study room. The way he had threaten her kept replaying in her mind and his thick, dangerous voice resounded in her ears. Would he have killed her if it was true that Divine was bedding her? Or would he have killed his nephew? She saw the feral look in his eyes, the one he had tried so hard to hide, and she would not lie, something flickering had spread across her chest. She did not know what it was yet but with time, she would. She bit her buttom lip as she ambled way through the maids’s quarter and crossed into the kitchen. The noises of utensils being used echoed in the entire place and dropped the tray in the place where they would be washed. She let out a deep breath and looked around. She caught sight of the tray that belonged the Royal
"I'll be bringing Rieta into the palace," Zenith informed Mathias whose eyes widened in shock at the sudden information."How?" He asked. He did not get why Zenith made so random decision. Sometimes, he wondered what went on in the head of the man. "By the palace gates and into the concubine chambers," Zenith replied in a bored tone."Why do you want to do that? Selda is still in the reconciliation room and the Seven Elders have been submitting petitions that you should free her. And besides, the people will think that the only thing you can do is keep females." He said.Zenith said nothing as he dropped the scroll he was working on. "What the Seven Elders want is different from what I want. She accepted her punishment. I refuse to stand for violence within my Palace." He directed a look at him and Mathias nodded. That was the discussion that led to Rieta being carried all the way from where she lived into the palace. Everyone in the palace was shocked to the core. Some even wondered
He must have heard wrong. There was no way... He shook his head, he definitely cannot allow himself like that but he could not help himself. Why would his nephew do something like that? He knew they were mated. He was the first to know even before he knew. He clenched his fist, his gaze on her hardening. She... her scent wafted into his nostrils and blocking his senses was all he could do to think straight. Why would she do that to him? So many thoughts twirled around his head and he realized he has never thought so much the way he was doing. The only time he has ever thought so hard like this is when the blight first broke out. He tried to steady his breath as she stopped before him, curtsying to the rest of the people.Nyx noticed the look of pity etched on Divine's face and swallowed hard as she wondered what was taking Zenith so much time to speak. She blinked, still waiting. Everyone had their attention on Zenith whose gaze was indecipherable."I heard," He paused and Nyx let out
Rumors was quick to spread in the palace. It's been three days since the she was confronted by Cassandra. There was no place Nyx walked into that they won't stare her down or even speak in hushed voices. This was rumor of scandal. An affair with a royal? That was the height of it. She wondered what would be going on in Zenith’s head or maybe he was yet to hear of it. What would he think of that night? Or maybe he does not remember her. Which one would hurt more? She shook her head as she dropped the tray and headed back for the maids quarter. At this kind of time, she was supposed to head for Divine’s chambers but here she was, avoiding the place. She settled into her space. It had become larger now. All thanks to Soli’s things being taken out and no one wanted to stay there so she filled it up with her things. She sat there for the entire evening, staring into nothingness and listening to the hushed voices of other maids. Her mind went to the night she had spent with Zenith and she ha
