Evie's POV

The way he screamed made me jump back for the third time. What was it with the man and yelling?

I felt eyes on me and looked up the stairs, only to see the man standing in the middle of the stairs, his back rested on the rail, arms crossed over his chest so tightly that the veins and muscles on his arms were very visible, and he had his legs crossed over each other. What was more? The man was staring at me so blatantly with his black eyes, I thought I was going to die.

What had I done wrong now?

"I was going to let you off, you know." He started, and I gulped audibly. "But on second thought," he left where he was standing like a soldier and began to take steps down the stairs in my direction. With each step that he took, I took two backward. "I don’t think it is a wise decision." He finished when he was standing in front of me, separated by a table at the center of the living room.
