After some pleasantries, Stephen took Yaslyn to see her room. It was spacious and brightly lit, elegantly decorated with luxurious details. Stephen asked, "Yaslyn, are you satisfied with how the room is arranged? If you're not, I can have it redecorated to your liking."

"Mr. Warren, I really like it. Thank you," Yaslyn replied, looking at the man in front of her with mixed emotions.

Yaslyn had met Stephen several times in her childhood, and he had always been kind to her. Her late father came to mind as she thought about that, and her expression turned somber.

"You must be tired after the journey," Stephen continued. "Rest for now, and I'll call you when dinner is ready."

Yaslyn nodded and returned to her room to tidy up her belongings.

After dinner, Stephen sat with Yaslyn on the sofa, chatted, and subsequently handed her a credit card.

"Yaslyn, take this card. Let my boys take you around Jefferson City tomorrow. Buy whatever you want," Stephen offered.

"Mr. Warren, thank you for your generosity. However, I must decline," Yaslyn responded as she caught Sophie’s displeased expression out of the corner of her eye.

"Tut-tut, acting so high and mighty," Sophie remarked, her tone laced with scorn. "You're only here with the Warren family for the money, aren’t you?"

"Sophie Lane!" Stephen shouted, his voice filled with anger.

"Am I not speaking the truth? Why are you shouting at me?"

A faint twitch tugged at the corner of Yaslyn's mouth. She was unsure how she had offended Sophie, but after much insistence, she finally refused Stephen's kindness.

Just then, her phone rang, and a voice came through. "Yaslyn, the company made a profit of three billion, eight hundred and twenty million this quarter. It's been transferred to your account."

A smirk tugged at the corners of Yaslyn's lips. Money was one thing she definitely did not lack.

The next morning, Yaslyn learned from the butler that Stephen had left early to tend to business matters. His five sons were at the breakfast table; Stephen had asked them to take Yaslyn on a tour around Jefferson City.

Just as Yaslyn settled into her chair, the eldest son, Xoan, spoke in a deep voice, "I have a meeting at the company today. The four of them will take you out."

Without another word, he put down his utensils and left.

"Apologies, Yaslyn," the others chimed in.

"I have a shoot today. I can't accompany you."

"I have two surgeries at the hospital."

"I have a business trip."

"I have classes."

One after the other, they all excused themselves and left the table. With an exasperated roll of her eyes, Yaslyn continued her breakfast leisurely. She spent the afternoon in her room, and just as evening was setting in, her phone rang again.

"Yaslyn, Yaslyn, are you in Jefferson City?" An excited voice buzzed from the other side.

"Do you need anything?" Yaslyn asked coolly.

"You came to Jefferson City and didn’t even tell me. That's not fair! I don’t care! You’re having dinner with me right now."

"No."

"If you don’t come, I’m going over to the Warrens."

Yaslyn rolled her eyes.

Half an hour later, she informed the butler and left the villa alone. After having dinner with Wade Yeager, Yaslyn was unwillingly dragged to a high-end bar in Jefferson City.

"Yaslyn, no one in the Warren family is harassing you, right?" Wade inquired.

"Who could harass me?" Yaslyn scoffed.

Wade chuckled awkwardly. "Right..."

Recalling Yaslyn's past, he had to admit it was true. As long as she did not bother anyone, no one could bother her. Despite her good looks, Yaslyn was no pushover.

"So, are you really going to get engaged to someone from the Warren family?" he asked.

"I don't know," Yaslyn replied nonchalantly, sipping her drink.

She would never have gone to the Warren family if it had not been for her father. Since she was already there, she could only take it one step at a time.

The two were in the bar's main hall on the first floor, completely unaware that someone had watched them intently from a booth on the second floor.

The journey back home was silent, both of them refraining from voicing their doubts. As soon as they stepped through the door, Sophie's ominous voice emanated from the living room."It seems like she's already taken to gallivanting about late at night after only a second day in Jefferson City. I wonder who she's been keeping company with. How could a woman like her marry my son?"At her words, Stephen furrowed his brow. He trusted Yaslyn but was worried about her safety. As he was about to make a call to check on her, he spotted Yaslyn entering the house with Xoan."So, it was Yaslyn and Xoan all along."Xoan remained silent, neither confirming nor denying the statement. Stephen chuckled and said, "Yaslyn, regarding the marriage, I plan for you to spend time with each of my five sons in turn. When the time comes, you can decide who suits you best and settle the matter, okay?"Yaslyn nodded, her face neutral. "Alright, Mr. Warren."Despite her dissatisfaction, Sophie knew she coul

Yaslyn identified the voice on the other end of the line as Xoan's and promptly refused, saying, "No need. I've already had a meal with Mr. Lawson outside."After hanging up, Mr. Lawson heaved a laugh from the other side of the table. He was not one for gossip. He only discovered the reason behind Yaslyn's visit to the company that morning from her."Yaslyn," he began, "I've met all five young masters of the Warren family. If you ask me, Xoan is the standout. Over these years as president, he's landed numerous big projects. He's incredibly reliable and excellent. He might be worth giving some serious consideration."Yaslyn took a sip of water, her face instantly full of resistance."No, no, no, Mr. Lawson. He's cold and distant. Who would want that man as a husband?"In Yaslyn's eyes, Xoan was unapproachable and aloof. Her words from that morning were only meant to get under his skin.Mr. Lawson broke into hearty laughter. The conversation then meandered to the other members of t

Upon returning home, Xoan was greeted by a lively scene in the living room. The other four members of the Warren family, including Sophie, were there. A young woman who appeared to be around Yaslyn's age was seated on the sofa. She was dressed in a tailored suit dress, presenting the image of a well-bred, rich lady. "Is that Xoan I see? Come sit down. Zaylee just returned to the country today and came straight here after landing," Sophie said cheerfully. The young woman, Zaylee, rose to greet Xoan with a warm smile. Xoan responded casually, his lack of enthusiasm causing her smile to falter slightly. However, she quickly recovered and turned her attention to Yaslyn."Are you Yaslyn? Hi! I'm Zaylee Ford. I grew up with Xoan and the others. From now on, consider us friends. If you ever find yourself bored in Jefferson City, feel free to reach out," she beamed, her eyes twinkling. From their earlier conversation, Zaylee had gathered that Yaslyn was quite beautiful. However, she had not

The maid, puzzled by Yaslyn's question, replied nevertheless. "My name is Nancy Lewis."Soon, the butler descended the stairs to report, "Sir, madam, we found these items in the bottom cabinet of Ms. Lyon's coat rack."Contained within the black plastic bag were a jade bracelet, a necklace, and a bracelet adorned with precious gems, all of which belonged to Sophie.A collective gasp of surprise echoed throughout the room when they realized the missing items had indeed been found in Yaslyn's room. Sophie's face was clouded with fury."Stephen, what have you to say for yourself? Look at the kind of woman you've found for our sons. Not only is she from some small, insignificant place, she also has filthy hands.""There's no way Yaslyn could've done this," Stephen asserted with conviction.Zaylee, feigning sympathy, added, "Indeed, could there possibly be some kind of misunderstanding?"The room became stiff with tension. At that moment, Xoan stood up and suggested, "Father, mother,

It was well known that Yaslyn would have an allergic reaction upon contact with jade, a fact underscored by the absence of any symptoms on her hands before the incident. To any discerning observer, it was clear that someone was attempting to frame Yaslyn.Just then, Yaslyn, unperturbed, voiced her query. "Alright, I've said my piece. Now, it's my turn to ask. Mrs. Warren, why did you transfer two hundred thousand dollars to Nancy yesterday?"Taken aback, both Nancy and Sophie blurted out, "What are you talking about?"Yaslyn displayed an image on her phone of a transaction record showcasing a substantial sum transferred from Sophie's account to Nancy."I did my research, and a maid's salary is around thirty thousand dollars. So, why did Mrs. Warren transfer two hundred thousand dollars to Nancy?" Yaslyn knew full well that a mere maid would not frame her without a compelling reason. Indeed, as she suspected, the true instigator was evident when she looked into Nancy's finances. I

By the time Yaslyn and Xoan left the hospital, Stephen and Sophie were in the midst of a heated argument in their room."Sophie, Yaslyn has just joined the Warren family. Why are you targeting her so intently? She's just a child!" Stephen exclaimed.Sophie chuckled coldly and said, "Isn't it all because of you, Stephen? Tell me, why did you bring Yaslyn into the Warren family?""I've told you already," Stephen retorted, "I had a marriage arrangement with Yaslyn's father.""A marriage arrangement? That's just an excuse! Isn't it because you were once in love with Helen Carden?" Sophie shot back.Upon hearing those words, Stephen's face stiffened. He and Oliver, Yaslyn's father, had been close friends in school, both top students with promising futures. They had both fallen in love with the radiant and youthful Helen—Yaslyn's mother. They agreed to pursue her fairly. Relying on his prominent family background, Stephen managed to arrange a marriage between the Warren and Carden famil
