The car stopped right in front of a wooden house with many plants on each side. After I got out of the car, a man who was quite old stood in front of the door. He had a bushy black beard and some grey hair.

There were guards all around the house.

I went over to the man, who smiled warmly as if he had been expecting me for a long time.

"Welcome, Miss Harper," he said as he held out his hand.

I returned the handshake.

“Come in.”

I followed her into the house, while my two bodyguards waited at the front.

As I looked around, I saw that the house was beautiful and warm. It had high ceilings with wooden beams, and a classic chandelier. There were also some abstract paintings on the walls. In one corner, there was a fireplace that was barely lit, and it was warm and cosy. The walls were lined with bookshelves, and some of the books were about medicine.

“I love books,” he said, as if he knew what I was thinking. “And I am a doctor. That's why there are so many books about the medical wo

That night, the crystal chandeliers from inside the building glowed softly, reflecting the light off the fancy dress that wrapped my body.As the car door opened, I got out gracefully, letting the bottom of my dress touch the ground for a moment before I stood up straight. The night air was warm, mixed with the smell of expensive perfume and wine coming from inside.I stood in front of the large doors guarded by security guards and breathed in gently. The reporters, including Jack, were locked outside the fence and weren't allowed to cover the situation inside. I took a moment to check my earrings were in place, making sure everything was perfect before stepping inside. As soon as I entered the room, I was greeted by the sight of a glittering chandelier on the ceiling and the sound of guests chatting and a small orchestra playing classical music in the corner. Important people were walking around with champagne glasses, talking about business, politics and other exclusive matters.I saw

A few minutes later, David came out of the room, looking annoyed, but also like he couldn't do anything about it.“He wants to meet you,” he whispered to me. His jaw tightened and it was obvious he was upset.I frowned. ”Your father?”He nodded, but his hands were clenched so tightly that his knuckles turned white. In an instant, he punched the wall beside him, not hard enough to make a loud noise, but enough to show how frustrated he was.I moved closer, speaking quietly. “David, what happened?”He shook his head and looked away. “Nothing.”“Should I go?” I asked, feeling nervous.

I turned around and started to run. The air in the room felt thick and heavy, as if the walls were closing in on me.“Hanna, wait!” David called out to me, but I ignored him.I sped up, leaving the guests who were still talking and drinking wine behind. Strange faces looked at me, with a mixture of curiosity and suspicion. David, who had been following me from behind, tugged on my arm, bringing my steps to a halt.“Hanna, stop,” David said.I turned my head quickly, feeling angry, confused and afraid.“Let me go, David.” I tried to pull my arm away, but he wouldn't let me go.“Listen,” he said in a low voice, almost begging. “I

I shut my room's door tightly. Then, I carelessly set my high heels aside. Then i took out the photos I kept in my dress. There were three different pictures that David had given me. I stared at them, feeling a heavy weight pressing against my chest. In the third photo, there was a line of doctors in white coats standing in a formal-looking formation.I looked closely at their faces. Then, on the far left, there was Dr.John.I quickly opened my laptop. I opened the article I had read about the doctors from Greece who were sent home suddenly. The photos of the five doctors in the article were the same as the five Greek doctors in the photo I was holding.I covered my mouth with my hand, unable to believe what I had found. Everything was about the case of David and his fam

My phone rang repeatedly, disturbing my sleep. When I looked at it, I saw that Jack had sent me dozens of messages. Some of my colleagues had also sent messages, containing something I did not understand. I woke up still with bleary eyes, picked up my glasses on the table and opened the messages one by one. When I opened one message from Jack, my eyes widened.I raised my glasses, hoping I hadn't read it wrong. “This is crazy,” I muttered. I grabbed the laptop on the table and opened it. The article I'd written the night before had been read by over a million people, and had received over a hundred thousand comments. My hands were shaking a bit as I scrolled through the screen, reading the various responses. Then my phone vibrated. It was David.I picked it up straight away. “Hello?”“Are you waking up?” the voice sounded casual.“Yes, I just woke up, and–”“I read your article.” Her tone was flat. There was a pause before he finally said, “Thanks, Hanna.”I smiled. The lift opened and I got out, walking down the tenth floor's corridor. The usual coffee smell filled the air.I felt my heart beat faster when everyone looked at me in a way that showed they liked me. Some people smiled in a way they never had before, as if they had found something I had said that they liked. That day, the atmosphere felt different, and I felt a little less stressed. The video I uploaded to the public website received sympathy from the public, who liked it and said that my articles and opinions were acceptable. The positives I got outweighed the negatives.“Hey, congrats!” some of my teammates said, hugging me.I didn't know how to respond, but I guess a slight smile would have shown that I was proud of myself, because this was beyond my expectations.

I was worried and sat up straight, ready for anything. The cold air made me feel tense. My breathing got faster, as if I was afraid of the questions. The two detectives sat in front of me, staring intently at my face, and I looked back at them, feeling nervous. One of the detectives took out a photo from the CCTV footage. It showed me getting out of a black car during the mass shooting in front of my office a few days ago.I felt my breath catch and I swallowed deeply.“We saw you on the CCTV during the mass shooting in front of your office,” he pointed at my face in the picture. ”Your car was right in front of the victim's car, and it looks like you were in the car for quite a while.” He looked at me, his eyes narrowed. “What were you doing in the car?”I sighed. “I was meeting a friend. He said he was going to pass by my workplace. So I met him in his car.” I said, trying not to be nervous. The two detectives hadn't said anything yet. They

Finally, I responded, "Yeah, thanks, Sir." I took a deep breath. "What about him?""He is receiving proper medical care." The detective smiled, then pulled a small white card from his pocket and handed it to me.Harry Raymond.A business card with a name and phone number."If you ever need help, you can call me," Mr. Raymond said. The scariest thing is when we think we're protected but we’re not.The atmosphere in this room is still the same as when I first came here. Lonely and frightening. I sat on the sofa, my back pressed tightly against the backrest, eyes fixed on the firmly closed front door. My breathing tried to remain calm but my racing heartbeat betrayed me. Only the ticking of the wall clock and the soft hum of the AC kept me company while I waited for the security staff to arrive.Five minutes passed. Suddenly, the doorbell shattered the silence. I jolted.“Security staff” a voice from behind the door said flatly, formal, but there was something off. Too calm. Too perfect.I didn’t respond right away. My heart pounded hard. I stared at the wooden door, trying to pierce it with my gaze. I touched the tip of the knife to my pants leg just in case. “Please show your ID” I said, trying to sound firm though my voice came o

“Hanna.”Someone called out to me just as I stepped out of the police station. Detective Harry. That stalking detective.“Excuse me? Hanna?”He caught his breath. First, he called me Mrs. Harper, then Hanna, then back to Mrs. Harper, and now Hanna again. What does he actually want?“Ms. Harper. Call me Ms. Harper,” I said firmly.“But we already agreed to use first names, didn’t we?”I crossed my arms, giving him a sharp look that wasn’t entirely serious.“Then what was that earlier in the room? What did you call me?”He sighed slowly. “That… was just professional, Hanna. I was doing my job. You know that.”I narrowed my eyes, as if weighing his answer.“Weird man,” I muttered, frownin

Detective Harry walked ahead of me, leading the way through each corridor of the building. Every room looked busy. Some officers were typing rapidly on their computers, while others were deep in heated debates about cases I couldn’t begin to guess. After a while, we reached a place at the far back of the building. Detective Harry stopped in front of a door labeled ‘Morgue.’A doctor guided us. As the door opened, the sharp scent of formalin immediately rushed out, stinging my nose and triggering a wave of discomfort. The room was cold, dim, and eerily quiet as if time itself had stopped inside. On the left side, metal drawers were lined up neatly, each one holding a tragic story now at its end.The doctor slowly walked over to one of the drawers and gently pulled it open. Inside lay a body covered by a white sheet. Detective Harry stared at it without blinking, his expression unreadable , somewhere between grief and determination.

The photocopy machine worked as it should. Sheets of paper were copied perfectly. Its humming sounded like the heartbeat of that office, pulsing steadily in the orderly silence. Documents came and went, faces passed by like shadows. I stood still, my eyes watching the stream of paper emerging one by one, as if searching for something more than just a duplicate. It had been two days since David last contacted me. Second by second, day by day, David and his case slowly faded. Strange people and hired killers slowly vanished from my world. I returned to my life, but my mind kept questioning things about David that things no one else knew.I had plenty of information, but no solid evidence about the children. Nothing. As if I had found nothing at all. And yet, I knew so much even about David and his life.Is this the pe

That day, the hospital was quite busy. The sounds of medical equipment and conversations blended together. As I entered the hospital, my steps were firm and full of conviction as I walked toward the receptionist, who was busy moving one file after another.“Excuse me, I’m looking for Dr. Anderson.”The receptionist looked at her computer screen. “One moment, I’ll check his schedule.”I sighed. My gaze wandered in all directions, looking for any sign that Dr. John might be somewhere in the corridor. Finally, the receptionist spoke, “Dr. Anderson is currently in the operating room.
