JANE’S POV.

My heart started beating fast, my knees became weak, and I tried to yell but there was no sound coming out. I left the items I bought at the doorpost as I rushed down the stairs.

Jacob followed me and met me halfway to the car. He only had his briefs on as he chased after me and held my right arm from behind in a bid to prevent me from moving any further. He was panting as he tried to speak to me.

“Jane, I can explain; it's not what you think. I can explain everything you saw.

“I would have given you a slap if you were not my friend’s husband. So Sarah’s instinct was right after all.

“I’m sorry, Jane; it was just a moment of weakness.

“So she was the reason why you extended your trip and lied that you couldn't get a flight back to New York. How can you be so heartless, Jacob?

Your wife and your daughter are at the hospital fighting for their lives and you are here screwing her cousin.

"Please, Jane, don't tell Sarah about this; it will break her he

JANE’S POV.My heart skipped a beat when I saw Jaxson. There was no way for me to hide because he was standing face-to-face with me. “Hi Jane, we meet again.“Hi, Jaxson. “Can I pay for that?“No, you do not have to. I can pay for it myself.“I know you can pay for it for yourself; I'm just offering to help.“Thanks, but no thanks."OK, fine, can we have dinner this weekend? “I’m not interested in hanging out with you, Jaxson; please stop trying.“What have I done, Jane? You've been practically ignoring me since I saw you at your office. Did I offend you? Please tell me I'm ready to rewrite my mistakes“So bold of you to come to me after five years and act like nothing happened?“We had a lovely conversation and a passionate night together; that was the last time I heard from you; there was no way I could reach you. You liar, you want to tell me you didn't get my letter?“What letter are you talking about, Jane?“You know what? I cannot deal with this right

JANE’S POV.“What are you doing here, Jaxson? How did you find me? What do you want?“Calm down, Jane; your ATM card fell off of your wallet after you made payment at the store,I was looking around to make sure my kids didn't come downstairs; it would be a tragedy if Jaxson saw them. That was the longest 3 minutes of my life.“Thank you for bringing my card; that was so nice of you. I collected the card and waited for him to turn and leave but he fixed his gaze on me.“Won't you invite me in, Jane, to come have a glass of wine?“I cannot invite you, Jaxson; this house doesn't belong to me; it belongs to my friend. I'm just squatting."I see. Here is your card. Have you made up your mind about dinner with me?"We will talk on the phone; you have to leave now; I don't want to get into trouble. "OK, fine, I'll leave. But I won't move an inch if you don't give me a hug.“You are just trouble, Jaxson. I moved to hug him and he pulled me closer, pressed me to his ch

JANE'S POVI left the oatmeal on the fire as I ran to the backyard to see what was happening to my kids. I still held on to my spatula as I ran like an Olympic medalist. I found Keana holding onto her water gun that was split in half and her brothers stood still beside her.“What happened, Keana? Why did you yell like that?“Kieth broke my water gun. “Is that why you are crying, Keana? You guys scare me. Don't worry, Keana; I'll get you another one. Now come back inside and have your breakfast. I served my children's breakfast and made corn soup for Sarah. My children’s nanny came and took my children to the park. The house was calm and I had enough time to prepare myself to go to the hospital. I wanted to drive to the hospital but then I remembered I had a date with Bryan so I took an Uber instead. I got to the hospital and saw Jacob sitting outside Sarah’s ward.“Hello Jane, Good afternoon. I like your outfit.“Thanks. I almost didn't reply, Jacob. Why sho

JANE'S POV My heart was racing fast because I knew somehow that this stunt Sarah was about to pull was going to blow up in my face when she found out that I knew about Jacob’s infidelity all along.“I don't think that is a great idea, Sarah."Relax, Jane; I'm just trying to spice up my marriage."OK, Sarah, if you say so. I have a date with Bryan tonight; he wants me to attend a banquet with him.“Omg!! That is lovely, Jane. You need to get your hair done, your makeup, and your outfit. What are you wearing? Don't repeat the shoe and bag you wore the last time; you need to do your facials. Hold on, let me call a makeup artist."Relax, Sarah; you do too much. Bryan has already hired the services of a stylist. He’ll come pick me up by 5 p.m.“Girl, I see the excitement in your eyes.“I’m just calm about it, Sarah. Me and Sarah talked for a while before Bryan came; he didn't come inside Sarah’s ward immediately; he was outside catching up with Bryan. They've know

JANE'S POV“Hey Jane, can I come pick you up tonight?I ignored the message because I wasn't interested.Spicy was too extra and he made me laugh the entire time. He started telling me about how some guys tried to do him dirty because he was a crossdresser and how he fought all of them for self-defense. He demonstrated everything and I was laughing, forgetting that it wasn't a comedy show. He fixed the wig and when I added a glimpse of myself in the mirror, I was looking like a 24-year-old baddie. He started my make up and in no time we were done. I was taken to another room to pick out some selected outfits, and I fell in love with the first outfit I tried. I didn't take it off.It was a red dress that had an open back and a long slit on the side. It sat well on my size 10 body and my cleavages were showing gloriously. I picked a purse and a shoe that complimented my outfit and by the time I was done, I couldn't believe myself. I was looking so hot; my stomach

JANE'S POV So Jaxson is even in a relationship and he was busy disturbing me. I was so upset and angry. I didn't know if I was supposed to be angry and upset but I was. I gulped my remaining champagne and dropped the glass. I was already tipsy. I stared at myself in the mirror. I was looking so hot. My breasts were still standing strong and firm. My Tommy was snatched in the red dress, and my hair was to die for. The hair was a raw, double-drawn, 24-inch wavy curl. It was bouncing gloriously. “You look breathtaking. I wonder who the lucky man is. When I turned, it was Jaxson. I anticipated it; I knew he saw me when I stood up.“Are you stalking me, Jaxson? “Stalking you? Why would I do that? This is the exact banquet I was trying to bring you to, but since you aired me, I brought someone else.“You mean your girlfriend?“Well, yes. Just one out of so many.“You are so pathetic, Jaxson. I never want to see you again. Please stop following me around. I was trying to

JANE'S POVWe stayed still for a while to know what was happening and Jaxson and his girlfriend suddenly emerged from the car and walked towards us. Bryan blew down his side glass."Bryan, let’s join you, please. My car broke down."Sure, buddy, you don't even have to ask. Jaxson entered the car with his overbearing girlfriend, and she didn't even say a word.“Is it safe to leave your car there all night, Jaxson? Do you think you need to call someone to come help you tow your car? "It's midnight; I can't get anyone but don't worry about it. I’ll send someone to come get it in the morning; I already texted my driver.“That is great; I hope you locked your car doors."Yes, I did. The trip continued peacefully until Jaxson decided to break the silence."So, Bryan, tell me. How long have you known Jane? I remember she used to work for you, so how did this closeness start?I wonder why Jaxson would ask such a question; what was his motive? Bryan is a gentle young man and

JANE'S POV The room was filled with an awkward silence. I could hear my heartbeat. Bryan stopped thrusting his hip as he gave me a stare. His silence said a million words. I was so embarrassed, I had to redeem myself. I had to do something fast to end the silence and tension that filled the room.“Bryan, that didn't come out well. I know I'm not supposed to be thinking about this at this moment but my heart was troubled and I wanted to speak to you about it. “Is everything alright, Jane? “Yes, everything is alright but I was wondering why Jaxson’s girlfriend was giving me a cold attitude the entire time at the party, so my mind was filled with Jaxson's name since I don't know hers. “Is that what is bothering you, Jane? You shouldn't let that border you. Jaxson’s girlfriend is always having mood swings so you shouldn't let that get to you. Come, lay on my arm.“He pulled my head softly close to his arm and he gave me a peck on my forehead but that was

Life, they say, is not a bed of roses. I have had my share of ups and downs. I had gone through a lot in life to raise my kids as a single mother and even when my children’s father showed up, it didn't get easy; rather, it became tougher. It wasn't a smooth ride but I am glad for all the challenges I was able to overcome. I was unconscious in the hospital for a month. Family members were scared, but they didn't give up on me because they knew I was a fighter. The first person I saw when my eyes were open was Sarah; she was right beside me praying when my eyes were open. I guess the heavens heard her prayers. But when my eyes opened, I wasn't pleased with the view I saw. I almost couldn't recognize her for the first few seconds because I was color blind. After a few seconds, I saw her face was brutalized; she was looking pale and malnourished. I taped her softly to let her know that I was awake. I was still very weak so I couldn't talk. She almost jumped out of her skin when she saw

I slowly collapsed to the ground. I didn’t know what it felt like to be shot; I couldn’t explain how I felt at the moment. I was in pain, but I couldn’t say a word. It seemed like I was unconscious, and I was losing blood rapidly. Jaxson held me mid-air so I wouldn’t drop to the ground. He tried to chase the criminals, but they drove off. He didn't get to see a face but the camera out of the pharmacy picked up their faces. Jaxson wanted to pursue them, but he couldn’t leave me there. He panicked and he didn't know what to do. He pulled out his phone and called 911. The condoms Jaxson bought fell to the ground, and it wasn’t important at that moment. He rushed back to me and lifted my head up.“Jane, please talk to me; please say something. I was not responsive; I was far gone. I didn't know where I was but it felt like I was sleeping. I was unconscious and I was losing blood. The ambulance came accompanied by the police van; they placed me in the ambulance immediately and started

“ Dad died many years ago. Mom. You had a lot of time to make amends but instead you drifted away like I’ve always remembered. So do not use that as an excuse.“ To come back, Jaxson, I tried to be close to you, but you already hated me; you were so far away. There was no mother-son connection anymore. You are no longer the son I used to know that your father had brainwashed you into thinking that I was the bad person when, in the real sense, he was the monster. “ Why didn’t you say anything, Mum? Why didn’t you tell me my father was abusing you?“ You never gave me a chance; your father brainwashed you into believing that I was a careless mother. Nothing I said would’ve made sense to you. Tears were rolling down Jaxson‘s face, and I wasn’t happy with that. I hated to see him that way. “ I’ve always thought you never loved me. I thought you hated me and I’ve carried that pain all through my entire life. I hated you for no reason; I didn’t know you were going through so much. “

"You have grown so much more than the last time I remember. You were just my little boy a while ago, but now you’ve grown to be the father of three beautiful kids."Stay away from my family and me; I am not your son. Do not call me that. I tried to signal Jaxson to take things easy on his mother, but he wasn’t having it. He was still blowing hot. “ I am back here to make things right. I know I wasn’t the great mother you wished for, but I am here to make amends. Please give me the chance. Do not push me away."You lost the right to do that a long time ago. You do not even care about me, so stop pretending.“ Is that what you think, Jaxson?“ That is not just what I think; that is what you have shown me ever since I was a child. You never cared about me, and even when my father died, you moved on so quickly that you didn’t even care if I was hurting or not. You are such a wicked person and I do not want to associate myself with you. “ That is what you grew up to believe, but I actua

Jane, you are an amazing woman, my life changed at the moment I met you. The first time I saw you on my rooftop at the party I organized. I know I found someone so rare and true. You looked so beautiful in your shimmer dress, that I couldn’t get my eyes off you all night. The long conversation we had through my soul and I knew from that very moment that you were going to leave there forever. I was with you in that room, and I didn’t want the moment to end, reconnecting with you at Bryan’s office was like a miracle, and every single day I wake up, I thank the sun, the moon, and the stars for bringing you my way. I have been fighting these feelings because I’ve been scared of commitment, but not anymore Jane. I want us to live as a happy family with our kids. There was a pause from Jaxson’s end, it took him a little over five seconds to continue from where he stopped. “ Jane Collins, please do me the. Will you be my wife please marry me. I didn't know how Bryan and Jaxson settled the fight or how it ended but the only thing I could see when I woke up was that I was lying down on Jaxson’s bed. I was conscious of the fact that I was awake but my eyes were still closed. I opened my eyes gradually and saw Jaxson seated beside me. He fixed his gaze, and he struggled to break eye contact. He was so excited to see me awake and he held my hand as he gave me a faint smile. “ I was patiently waiting for you to wake up, Jane. I was so scared. I didn’t know when you were going to wake up; I almost took you to the hospital. It was after Jaxson spoke that I realized that my head was banging. I used my arms to hold my head firmly. “ Here, something for your headache. You will feel better once you take the painkillers.Jaxson handed me some painkillers and I took them with some warm water. At that point, I still couldn’t recall what had happened. I left you on the bed, trying to remember everything that happened. My brain was bla

I was so confused, my heart started beating fast, and I didn't know what to do at that point. Everyone fixed their gaze on me and it was as if I were the villain in Bryan’s love story. I was sitting but the chair became uncomfortable the moment Bryan mentioned my name. Jaxson started rubbing his arms and I could tell that he was not in a good mood. “I dare you to embarrass me in front of everyone, Bryan? How dare you? All I've ever done is in your best interest. I’ve made sacrifices to protect you. I chose a good bride for you from a wealthy family; I chose her from a family with prestige and yet you want to trade that for a single mother of three? Do you want to drag this family name into the mud? I will not sit back and watch you crumble everything your father has worked hard for in the name of your silly infatuation. “It is not an infatuation, Mom; I love Jane.My seat was burning, and I was slowly dragging my butt away from the chair. I was uncomfortable, and I wanted to leave.

Bryan was acting weird when he saw us together. Jaxson gave him a hug, but he kept looking at me. He fixed his gaze on me and it made me feel uncomfortable. I didn’t know I was going through mine, but I knew for sure from the way he was looking at me. He wished I was the one he was getting married to instead.I simply put up a smile so I wouldn’t come across as rude. At this point, the bright father walked her down the aisle and took her up to meet her soon-to-be husband after they took their vows. Jaxson was smiling sheepishly; he was so happy. His friend was finally settling down, and he was going to start a family. The joy on Bryan’s mother's face was everything; she was the happiest. Bryan wasn’t half as happy as she was. Her smile was palpable, and everyone could see it. The bride was very happy. She was smiling at each step of the way she walked, and even though I didn’t like her, I couldn’t stop admiring her outfit and her aura. She looked so beautiful, and I almost couldn’t r

It was a cool and breezy day. I was seated by the side of the window, sipping my dark coffee, and I was enjoying the view of New York City. This was the feeling I usually get from my new home, the house Jaxson bought for me, but this time I was in his house. I was in a secret house, the one he took me to the last time. It has been three months since Keith was kidnapped; he has gone through a series of therapies, and it is safe to say that my son is doing well. I woke up happy that day because the universe was finally giving me peace, thanks to gradually falling into pleasant places for me and my family. My dad’s health was improving as the day went by, and I was so happy to find out that he was able to walk out on his own, even though it was a short distance, but he was able to walk with his legs again. Above all of this, it has been three months without Sarah in my life. It hasn’t been easy but with the help of Jaxson, I was pulling through every day. Most days I spend my nights c
