JANE’S POV.

“Calm down, Jane; it's just 7 p.m.; he’ll be here soon.

“That is what you told me 30 minutes ago. Sarah, I think he totally forgot about the date.

“You know Bryan better, Jane; you've worked with him for a while; you know he doesn't joke with his appointments; I'm sure he has a better explanation for the delay.

I was already upset at this point; Bryan hadn't even called me to tell me why he was running late. That is not very nice of him.

“Call him and find out why he is delaying. I called him once, but he didn't pick up or return my call. I do not want to look too desperate so I won't call again. I was about to take off my earrings and undress when I heard his car pull up in the driveway.

“You see, I told you. He is here now.

“Sarah, Jacob said his flight was delayed; have you spoken to him since then?

“I've been trying to call him since then, but my call is going to his voicemail. I've been noticing so much inconsistency with Jacob; he said he coul

JANE’S POV The car was silent for a few minutes until we approached a magnificent edifice. My eyes and mouth widened simultaneously. Bryan parked in his driveway and I saw his luxurious cars; there were too many I couldn't keep up counting. After he turned off the engine, he walked to my end and opened the car door for me. He held my hand as we walked into his living room. I was drooling over Jaxson’s mansion a few years ago but it was nothing compared to Bryan’s mansion. Bryan's mansion is way bigger and finer. I was looking around immediately when I got in and it was as if I had left earth. I'm not an architect but I know I can carve out five bedrooms from Bryan’s living room. “Welcome to my humble abode, Jane.“You call these Humble? You must be kidding me, Bryan. “Make yourself comfortable. Jane, I'll have my chef make you dinner. I would have asked him to make something for you when I came back home to freshen up but I was hurrying out and I totally forgo

JANE’S POV.Sex with Bryan was everything I needed and more. The feeling was memorable but I won't deny the fact that I was seeing Jaxson’s face all through. I fantasized about Jaxson when Bryan was touching me. I didn't moan too much during the sex because the way I was thinking about Jaxson was too much; I might just moan out his name unknowingly and that would not turn out well. I finally had an orgasm after so many years. After the sex, Bryan held me tightly in his arms as we were curled up in bed. I was feeling so relaxed; my back pain was gone. Thanks to Bryan’s massage, his cologne was so mild and I was sniffing his arm every five seconds because I loved the scent. He played with my hair and I loved the feeling. This is what I have been missing for years now. We were enjoying the calm and silent moment when Bryan suddenly asked me a question that made me choke on my saliva."Will you be my girlfriend, Jane? I couldn't say a word; I just turned and we we

JANE’S POV.I could feel my breath seizing gradually. I was so confused and dumbfounded. I didn't know if I should wear my bra first or my pants; I couldn't even find my bra, so I moved forward to pick up my pants from the floor and wear them, but I was in a hurry. I was trying to fit in my two legs at once, so I fell on the floor. That was when Bryan woke up and heard me fall to the floor."Jane, are you alright? Why are you rushing to leave this early? It is not even noon yet; won't you have something to eat before you go? Where are you even rushing? "I have an emergency. Sarah is at the hospital."What! Is she alright? What is wrong?"Not Sarah, baby Daisy; she was rushed to the hospital this morning."Oh my God, what happened to her?"Too many questions Bryan, I don't even know. I’m trying to order a ride."A ride? Why do you need a ride? Common, let me drop you."You don't have to do that, Bryan; you’ve done enough already. Besides, you have a meeting later

    JANE'S POV.The ward was filled with Sarah and Jacob's voices; they were shouting at the top of their voices. I wonder why the security hasn't called them to order. Why are they even yelling anyway? Aren't they supposed to be hugging, considering that Jacob had been away for a while? I approached them to find out what the problem was and why they were yelling like my grandparents."What is wrong, guys? I've only been gone for 10 minutes, and you guys are almost tearing each other apart. This is not the reunion I was expecting. Hi Jacob, welcome back to New York. Jacob's face was red as he tried to control his words. He answered me lightly and went back to raising his voice."How can you be so careless? Sarah, how can you leave Daisy in a room that was really cold and the air conditioner tuned to the highest? Why couldn't you be more careful? Daisy is just a few days old, and you want to send her back to her maker?"Don't be ridiculous, Jacob; it was just a mistake;

JANE’S POV.I knew Sarah’s heart was beating faster than mine as we walked to the doctor’s office. We didn’t say a word to each other, but there was an unspoken communication I could feel as we both held hands. She held me tightly, and we sat down and fixed our gazes on him as we anticipated his report."Your daughter Daisy is such a strong child; we almost lost her because she was in a very critical condition when you brought her in. She is stable now but please, you have to be very careful. I see this is your first child so I'll suggest you employ an experienced nanny to help you look after Daisy."Thank you, Doctor. Thank you so much."You are welcome. How are you feeling? You know you shouldn't go through all this stress; it is not good for your health. Please try to relax and put your mind at rest; your daughter is going to be right. She will be discharged as soon as she wakes up but you have to bring her back here if you notice any changes in her body tem

JANE’S POV.When the tension was too much, I instructed my children’s nanny to take them home so they could prepare for school the next day. They didn't even complain because they spent their whole afternoon disturbing me.“Sarah was rushed into the wards and the doctor started stitching her immediately; her stitches loosened when she fell to the ground. Jacob was there this time and he witnessed the tension first hand. His wife and his daughter were both lying in the hospital bed; he was destabilized; he was pacing around the same way I was the day they operated on Sarah. The doctor came out and walked directly towards Us. “She is going to be alright, but I told you guys not to allow her to stress herself; she just had a cesarean section a few days ago and she is already pacing around the hospital. Please, when she is discharged, take good care of her and make sure she doesn't lift anything heavy. She needs rest—lots of it. Mr. Jacob, please employ the service

JANE’S POVI slept off when I entered the Hospital. I had my phone on my chest all night long. I was so happy to see Jaxson’s text. I didn't respond to it, though, and I was happy he reached out. By the time I opened my eyes, it was daybreak, and Jacob was pressing his phone. Sarah had been awake for a while but they didn't allow her to see us; they insisted she breastfed her baby first. After she was done, they allowed us inside. Jacob gave his wife a hug and a peck on her forehead and she handed baby Daisy over to him. I saw tears drop when he held his daughter for the first time; they were tears of Joy. “Daddy loves you, Daisy. Daddy loves you. It was fun to watch Jacob's face. Had Jaxson replied to my letter five years ago, he would have done the same thing with his triplet too. “Isn't she so pretty, Jane? She looks so much like me."Yes, she does. How are you feeling, Sarah? “I feel hungry, Jane, but the doctor said I cannot eat anything solid. “Should I ord

JANE’S POV. The room was quiet, and my kids fixed their gaze on me as they expected and answered, but I was too stunned to speak. I could feel the room compressing me and my hands became sweaty. My kids have never asked me that question before; somehow I knew that day would come but I wasn't expecting it to be today. “Come here, my little cuties. I held the three of them and brought them close to my body.“You know Mummy loves you all, right?“Yes, mummy.“Good, so now is not the time to know about your father, but when you kids get older, you will meet him soon. But for now, focus on making Mommy proud with good grades.“Doesn't he want us, mummy? Is he ashamed of us?"No, Kieth, why would you say that? He loves you all but he is not around for now. He is busy preparing for the day he’ll come and start a family with Us. OK, kids?“Ok, mummy. I left them playing with their toys and I went straight to my room to cry. I was so emotional; everything was overwhelming

Life, they say, is not a bed of roses. I have had my share of ups and downs. I had gone through a lot in life to raise my kids as a single mother and even when my children’s father showed up, it didn't get easy; rather, it became tougher. It wasn't a smooth ride but I am glad for all the challenges I was able to overcome. I was unconscious in the hospital for a month. Family members were scared, but they didn't give up on me because they knew I was a fighter. The first person I saw when my eyes were open was Sarah; she was right beside me praying when my eyes were open. I guess the heavens heard her prayers. But when my eyes opened, I wasn't pleased with the view I saw. I almost couldn't recognize her for the first few seconds because I was color blind. After a few seconds, I saw her face was brutalized; she was looking pale and malnourished. I taped her softly to let her know that I was awake. I was still very weak so I couldn't talk. She almost jumped out of her skin when she saw

I slowly collapsed to the ground. I didn’t know what it felt like to be shot; I couldn’t explain how I felt at the moment. I was in pain, but I couldn’t say a word. It seemed like I was unconscious, and I was losing blood rapidly. Jaxson held me mid-air so I wouldn’t drop to the ground. He tried to chase the criminals, but they drove off. He didn't get to see a face but the camera out of the pharmacy picked up their faces. Jaxson wanted to pursue them, but he couldn’t leave me there. He panicked and he didn't know what to do. He pulled out his phone and called 911. The condoms Jaxson bought fell to the ground, and it wasn’t important at that moment. He rushed back to me and lifted my head up.“Jane, please talk to me; please say something. I was not responsive; I was far gone. I didn't know where I was but it felt like I was sleeping. I was unconscious and I was losing blood. The ambulance came accompanied by the police van; they placed me in the ambulance immediately and started

“ Dad died many years ago. Mom. You had a lot of time to make amends but instead you drifted away like I’ve always remembered. So do not use that as an excuse.“ To come back, Jaxson, I tried to be close to you, but you already hated me; you were so far away. There was no mother-son connection anymore. You are no longer the son I used to know that your father had brainwashed you into thinking that I was the bad person when, in the real sense, he was the monster. “ Why didn’t you say anything, Mum? Why didn’t you tell me my father was abusing you?“ You never gave me a chance; your father brainwashed you into believing that I was a careless mother. Nothing I said would’ve made sense to you. Tears were rolling down Jaxson‘s face, and I wasn’t happy with that. I hated to see him that way. “ I’ve always thought you never loved me. I thought you hated me and I’ve carried that pain all through my entire life. I hated you for no reason; I didn’t know you were going through so much. “

"You have grown so much more than the last time I remember. You were just my little boy a while ago, but now you’ve grown to be the father of three beautiful kids."Stay away from my family and me; I am not your son. Do not call me that. I tried to signal Jaxson to take things easy on his mother, but he wasn’t having it. He was still blowing hot. “ I am back here to make things right. I know I wasn’t the great mother you wished for, but I am here to make amends. Please give me the chance. Do not push me away."You lost the right to do that a long time ago. You do not even care about me, so stop pretending.“ Is that what you think, Jaxson?“ That is not just what I think; that is what you have shown me ever since I was a child. You never cared about me, and even when my father died, you moved on so quickly that you didn’t even care if I was hurting or not. You are such a wicked person and I do not want to associate myself with you. “ That is what you grew up to believe, but I actua

Jane, you are an amazing woman, my life changed at the moment I met you. The first time I saw you on my rooftop at the party I organized. I know I found someone so rare and true. You looked so beautiful in your shimmer dress, that I couldn’t get my eyes off you all night. The long conversation we had through my soul and I knew from that very moment that you were going to leave there forever. I was with you in that room, and I didn’t want the moment to end, reconnecting with you at Bryan’s office was like a miracle, and every single day I wake up, I thank the sun, the moon, and the stars for bringing you my way. I have been fighting these feelings because I’ve been scared of commitment, but not anymore Jane. I want us to live as a happy family with our kids. There was a pause from Jaxson’s end, it took him a little over five seconds to continue from where he stopped. “ Jane Collins, please do me the. Will you be my wife please marry me. I didn't know how Bryan and Jaxson settled the fight or how it ended but the only thing I could see when I woke up was that I was lying down on Jaxson’s bed. I was conscious of the fact that I was awake but my eyes were still closed. I opened my eyes gradually and saw Jaxson seated beside me. He fixed his gaze, and he struggled to break eye contact. He was so excited to see me awake and he held my hand as he gave me a faint smile. “ I was patiently waiting for you to wake up, Jane. I was so scared. I didn’t know when you were going to wake up; I almost took you to the hospital. It was after Jaxson spoke that I realized that my head was banging. I used my arms to hold my head firmly. “ Here, something for your headache. You will feel better once you take the painkillers.Jaxson handed me some painkillers and I took them with some warm water. At that point, I still couldn’t recall what had happened. I left you on the bed, trying to remember everything that happened. My brain was bla

I was so confused, my heart started beating fast, and I didn't know what to do at that point. Everyone fixed their gaze on me and it was as if I were the villain in Bryan’s love story. I was sitting but the chair became uncomfortable the moment Bryan mentioned my name. Jaxson started rubbing his arms and I could tell that he was not in a good mood. “I dare you to embarrass me in front of everyone, Bryan? How dare you? All I've ever done is in your best interest. I’ve made sacrifices to protect you. I chose a good bride for you from a wealthy family; I chose her from a family with prestige and yet you want to trade that for a single mother of three? Do you want to drag this family name into the mud? I will not sit back and watch you crumble everything your father has worked hard for in the name of your silly infatuation. “It is not an infatuation, Mom; I love Jane.My seat was burning, and I was slowly dragging my butt away from the chair. I was uncomfortable, and I wanted to leave.

Bryan was acting weird when he saw us together. Jaxson gave him a hug, but he kept looking at me. He fixed his gaze on me and it made me feel uncomfortable. I didn’t know I was going through mine, but I knew for sure from the way he was looking at me. He wished I was the one he was getting married to instead.I simply put up a smile so I wouldn’t come across as rude. At this point, the bright father walked her down the aisle and took her up to meet her soon-to-be husband after they took their vows. Jaxson was smiling sheepishly; he was so happy. His friend was finally settling down, and he was going to start a family. The joy on Bryan’s mother's face was everything; she was the happiest. Bryan wasn’t half as happy as she was. Her smile was palpable, and everyone could see it. The bride was very happy. She was smiling at each step of the way she walked, and even though I didn’t like her, I couldn’t stop admiring her outfit and her aura. She looked so beautiful, and I almost couldn’t r

It was a cool and breezy day. I was seated by the side of the window, sipping my dark coffee, and I was enjoying the view of New York City. This was the feeling I usually get from my new home, the house Jaxson bought for me, but this time I was in his house. I was in a secret house, the one he took me to the last time. It has been three months since Keith was kidnapped; he has gone through a series of therapies, and it is safe to say that my son is doing well. I woke up happy that day because the universe was finally giving me peace, thanks to gradually falling into pleasant places for me and my family. My dad’s health was improving as the day went by, and I was so happy to find out that he was able to walk out on his own, even though it was a short distance, but he was able to walk with his legs again. Above all of this, it has been three months without Sarah in my life. It hasn’t been easy but with the help of Jaxson, I was pulling through every day. Most days I spend my nights c
