Jane’s POV

Mr. Bryan's smile widened, and he nodded. "Yes, Jane, you got the job."

Relief and joy surged through me, and I couldn't help but break into a grin.

It was a moment I had been waiting for, a chance to pursue my passion and create a better future for my children.

I couldn't contain my excitement as Mr. Bryan confirmed that I had indeed secured the job at the art gallery. My heart danced with joy, and I couldn't help but express my gratitude.

"Thank you so much, Mr. Bryan," I exclaimed, my eyes sparkling with happiness. “I couldn't have done this without you sir.” she continued.

He smiled warmly with his eyes filled with pride. "It's my pleasure, Jane. You've earned this opportunity."

I was still riding the wave of happiness when Mr. Bryan surprised me by reaching into a small refrigerator he had in his office.

He pulled out a bottle of champagne, and my eyes widened in surprise.

"There's no need for you to pour me some champagne," I protested, not

Jane’s POVAfter much contemplation, I decided to embrace the opportunity for a night out with Sarah. It was a rare chance to let loose, have fun, and momentarily set aside the responsibilities of motherhood. I could already envision the laughter, dancing, and shared memories that awaited us.When Sarah returned to the room, I smiled and said, "I'm in!."Sarah's face lit up with joy, and she let out a jubilant cheer. "Yes! We're going to have the best time tonight!"Her enthusiasm was infectious, and I couldn't help but share in her excitement. The prospect of a carefree night out with friends was an opportunity I couldn't pass up.Sarah grabbed my hand and started dancing around the room once more, her energy and excitement obvious. "We're going to get drunk tonight, Jane! It's going to be epic!"As we danced and laughed, I couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation building within me. I was ready to embrace the adventure that awaited us, all while cher

Jane’s Pov"Of course, Mr. Bryan. I'll be there shortly," I replied, my mind racing with curiosity and a tinge of anxiety. What could be so urgent that he needed to speak with me on a weekend morning?I hastily got dressed, my mind swirling with thoughts about the unexpected call. Did it have anything to do with my new job? Or was it something entirely unrelated, a new challenge or responsibility at my current workplace? The possibilities played out in my mind like scenes from an unpredictable movie.I hastily got dressed and left to go to the office without telling anybody. As I entered Mr. Bryan's office, he greeted me with a warm smile that did little to ease my apprehension. "Jane, please have a seat," he said, gesturing to a chair across his desk.I complied, my eyes meeting his expectant gaze. "What did you want to talk to me about, Mr. Bryan?" I asked, my voice steady despite the fluttering nerves in my stomach.Mr. Bryan leaned forward, his expressi

JANE’S POV.I stood in front of Mr. Bryan as I rubbed my palms together. I was really nervous, with so many unanswered questions running through my mind as I anticipated his reply. Will he revoke my new employment letter? Is he upset or disappointed in me? It was as if Mr. Bryan could see through me. He smiled lightly as he finally looked up at me.It is evident that Mr. Bryan is a man of few words. He doesn't talk much and that is what I liked about him: his calmness. That is my kind of man. I like my men calm and gentle but of course I haven't been interested in men lately so I quickly snapped out of my world of thoughts.“Do not worry yourself too much about it, Jane; it is not a requirement for you to resume your new job on Monday; I only wanted you to help me get someone who is as competent as you are."I'm still looking, sir; I will let you know if I find someone. “I will really appreciate that, Jane. Come, have a seat; don't just stand there. I took my seat but I avoided eye

JANE’S POV.“He is my boss. Sarah, I cannot go out with him. Sarah interrupted me before I could finish my statement. And possibly come up with an excuse, and I hate that sometimes she knows me too well. “Point of correction Jane, Ex boss. You no longer work for this person; you'll resume at the art gallery on Monday, so don't think too much about it.“But I'm scared. Sarah, I've not gone on any dates for years. I've not looked at any men since I got pregnant with my kids. I honestly don't know how to feel about this. I don't even know how to face Mr. Bryan when we go out together. How can I even converse with him casually? You know I'm already accustomed to his seriousness. “Mr. Bryan is a good and humble man, Jane; with all the billions he has, he is still gentle and down to earth. If I were not married, I would have seduced him and gotten married to him. Maybe by now, I will be shaking my ass in his penthouse in Paris. Sarah made an attempt to shake her ass but it was her big st

JANE’S POV“We finally got to the restaurant and Bryan held my hand as we made our way to the rooftop. It was a fresh feeling. I cannot remember the feeling that comes with date night; it has been ages. The elevator took us to the rooftop and as soon as the elevator opened, I was left in awe. The whole place was decorated with rose flowers. Bryan pulled out the seat for me to sit on before he took his. “This is so beautiful, sir. I love the arrangement.“Sir?? Do you still want to call me that? Bryan gave me a look as he poured me a glass of champagne. “Why are we the only ones here? “I booked the whole space for us, Jane; I wanted us to have some peace and quiet. Don't you like it?“I love it, but you didn't have it, sir. Sorry, Bryan. But you have to give me time to adjust; you know this is still new to me. A few days ago, you were my boss at the office and now I am here drinking champagne with you on this beautiful rooftop. “Take all the time you need, J

JANE’S POVI wish the car could go faster but Bryan was already driving at 100 miles per hour and I wouldn't want him to get pulled over by the police. I was looking outside the window all through the ride as I wished I had a superpower—maybe something like a flash—so I could be with Sarah and hold her hands. "Jane, she is going to be fine. Sarah is a strong woman. Do not worry too much about it.“I know Bryan; Sarah is always trying to make sure everyone around her is doing okay; she likes to be there for everyone through difficult times. Even though she tries to hide it most of the time, I can still see through her. I see the fear in her eyes—the fear of the unknown. She is scared of motherhood; she fears she will fail. But she is the total opposite of what she thinks of herself; I see the way she looks after my kids and the love and compassion she shows them. I know she will do well raising her kids.“I would have been the proud father of a seven-year-old by

Jaxson always has a way of putting me in a tight position. “I’m alright, Bryan, but I just feel a light headache. I wasn't actually feeling any headache as of the time Bryan asked but the moment I said it, my head started banging badly.“Oh dear! Should I ask the nurse to get you something for your head? Come, sit. You are worrying too much. I already ordered you chicken soup and fresh apple juice to help you calm your nerves; the delivery guy will be here shortly.“Wow! Thank you, Bryan. You’ve done enough for me already, but you do not have to stay here with me all night; you can leave whenever you want to.“Nonsense, I will be here with you, Jane. You need someone to be by your side. Besides, if I leave you here and go home, I won't even be at peace; I will worry too much. Life, they say, is not a bed of roses. I have had my share of ups and downs. I had gone through a lot in life to raise my kids as a single mother and even when my children’s father showed up, it didn't get easy; rather, it became tougher. It wasn't a smooth ride but I am glad for all the challenges I was able to overcome. I was unconscious in the hospital for a month. Family members were scared, but they didn't give up on me because they knew I was a fighter. The first person I saw when my eyes were open was Sarah; she was right beside me praying when my eyes were open. I guess the heavens heard her prayers. But when my eyes opened, I wasn't pleased with the view I saw. I almost couldn't recognize her for the first few seconds because I was color blind. After a few seconds, I saw her face was brutalized; she was looking pale and malnourished. I taped her softly to let her know that I was awake. I was still very weak so I couldn't talk. She almost jumped out of her skin when she saw

I slowly collapsed to the ground. I didn’t know what it felt like to be shot; I couldn’t explain how I felt at the moment. I was in pain, but I couldn’t say a word. It seemed like I was unconscious, and I was losing blood rapidly. Jaxson held me mid-air so I wouldn’t drop to the ground. He tried to chase the criminals, but they drove off. He didn't get to see a face but the camera out of the pharmacy picked up their faces. Jaxson wanted to pursue them, but he couldn’t leave me there. He panicked and he didn't know what to do. He pulled out his phone and called 911. The condoms Jaxson bought fell to the ground, and it wasn’t important at that moment. He rushed back to me and lifted my head up.“Jane, please talk to me; please say something. I was not responsive; I was far gone. I didn't know where I was but it felt like I was sleeping. I was unconscious and I was losing blood. The ambulance came accompanied by the police van; they placed me in the ambulance immediately and started

“ Dad died many years ago. Mom. You had a lot of time to make amends but instead you drifted away like I’ve always remembered. So do not use that as an excuse.“ To come back, Jaxson, I tried to be close to you, but you already hated me; you were so far away. There was no mother-son connection anymore. You are no longer the son I used to know that your father had brainwashed you into thinking that I was the bad person when, in the real sense, he was the monster. “ Why didn’t you say anything, Mum? Why didn’t you tell me my father was abusing you?“ You never gave me a chance; your father brainwashed you into believing that I was a careless mother. Nothing I said would’ve made sense to you. Tears were rolling down Jaxson‘s face, and I wasn’t happy with that. I hated to see him that way. “ I’ve always thought you never loved me. I thought you hated me and I’ve carried that pain all through my entire life. I hated you for no reason; I didn’t know you were going through so much. “

"You have grown so much more than the last time I remember. You were just my little boy a while ago, but now you’ve grown to be the father of three beautiful kids."Stay away from my family and me; I am not your son. Do not call me that. I tried to signal Jaxson to take things easy on his mother, but he wasn’t having it. He was still blowing hot. “ I am back here to make things right. I know I wasn’t the great mother you wished for, but I am here to make amends. Please give me the chance. Do not push me away."You lost the right to do that a long time ago. You do not even care about me, so stop pretending.“ Is that what you think, Jaxson?“ That is not just what I think; that is what you have shown me ever since I was a child. You never cared about me, and even when my father died, you moved on so quickly that you didn’t even care if I was hurting or not. You are such a wicked person and I do not want to associate myself with you. “ That is what you grew up to believe, but I actua

Jane, you are an amazing woman, my life changed at the moment I met you. The first time I saw you on my rooftop at the party I organized. I know I found someone so rare and true. You looked so beautiful in your shimmer dress, that I couldn’t get my eyes off you all night. The long conversation we had through my soul and I knew from that very moment that you were going to leave there forever. I was with you in that room, and I didn’t want the moment to end, reconnecting with you at Bryan’s office was like a miracle, and every single day I wake up, I thank the sun, the moon, and the stars for bringing you my way. I have been fighting these feelings because I’ve been scared of commitment, but not anymore Jane. I want us to live as a happy family with our kids. There was a pause from Jaxson’s end, it took him a little over five seconds to continue from where he stopped. “ Jane Collins, please do me the. Will you be my wife please marry me. I didn't know how Bryan and Jaxson settled the fight or how it ended but the only thing I could see when I woke up was that I was lying down on Jaxson’s bed. I was conscious of the fact that I was awake but my eyes were still closed. I opened my eyes gradually and saw Jaxson seated beside me. He fixed his gaze, and he struggled to break eye contact. He was so excited to see me awake and he held my hand as he gave me a faint smile. “ I was patiently waiting for you to wake up, Jane. I was so scared. I didn’t know when you were going to wake up; I almost took you to the hospital. It was after Jaxson spoke that I realized that my head was banging. I used my arms to hold my head firmly. “ Here, something for your headache. You will feel better once you take the painkillers.Jaxson handed me some painkillers and I took them with some warm water. At that point, I still couldn’t recall what had happened. I left you on the bed, trying to remember everything that happened. My brain was bla

I was so confused, my heart started beating fast, and I didn't know what to do at that point. Everyone fixed their gaze on me and it was as if I were the villain in Bryan’s love story. I was sitting but the chair became uncomfortable the moment Bryan mentioned my name. Jaxson started rubbing his arms and I could tell that he was not in a good mood. “I dare you to embarrass me in front of everyone, Bryan? How dare you? All I've ever done is in your best interest. I’ve made sacrifices to protect you. I chose a good bride for you from a wealthy family; I chose her from a family with prestige and yet you want to trade that for a single mother of three? Do you want to drag this family name into the mud? I will not sit back and watch you crumble everything your father has worked hard for in the name of your silly infatuation. “It is not an infatuation, Mom; I love Jane.My seat was burning, and I was slowly dragging my butt away from the chair. I was uncomfortable, and I wanted to leave.

Bryan was acting weird when he saw us together. Jaxson gave him a hug, but he kept looking at me. He fixed his gaze on me and it made me feel uncomfortable. I didn’t know I was going through mine, but I knew for sure from the way he was looking at me. He wished I was the one he was getting married to instead.I simply put up a smile so I wouldn’t come across as rude. At this point, the bright father walked her down the aisle and took her up to meet her soon-to-be husband after they took their vows. Jaxson was smiling sheepishly; he was so happy. His friend was finally settling down, and he was going to start a family. The joy on Bryan’s mother's face was everything; she was the happiest. Bryan wasn’t half as happy as she was. Her smile was palpable, and everyone could see it. The bride was very happy. She was smiling at each step of the way she walked, and even though I didn’t like her, I couldn’t stop admiring her outfit and her aura. She looked so beautiful, and I almost couldn’t r

It was a cool and breezy day. I was seated by the side of the window, sipping my dark coffee, and I was enjoying the view of New York City. This was the feeling I usually get from my new home, the house Jaxson bought for me, but this time I was in his house. I was in a secret house, the one he took me to the last time. It has been three months since Keith was kidnapped; he has gone through a series of therapies, and it is safe to say that my son is doing well. I woke up happy that day because the universe was finally giving me peace, thanks to gradually falling into pleasant places for me and my family. My dad’s health was improving as the day went by, and I was so happy to find out that he was able to walk out on his own, even though it was a short distance, but he was able to walk with his legs again. Above all of this, it has been three months without Sarah in my life. It hasn’t been easy but with the help of Jaxson, I was pulling through every day. Most days I spend my nights c
