Sean was sitting in front of his house dreaming. It was the middle of the night, but he couldn't sleep at all. In his hand was a box of cigarettes and a lighter. He had been considering whether to smoke or not. This was not an easy matter considering that in the past he almost died from smoking too much and drinking alcohol. The nasopharyngeal cancer was still haunting him, but on one side his head hurt. Sean needed at least one cigarette to calm him down.
"Sean? What were you doing this late?”
Anne's voice came from behind and it immediately made Sean hide the cigarette case and a lighter in his pajama pocket.
"I'm having trouble sleeping," Sean answered and Anne was now sitting beside him.
"You usually don't have insomnia. Is it because… Angel?” asked Anne carefully.
Oh, Sean's heart reacted when he heard Angel's name again. The people around him seemed to deliberately not mention Angel's name, including Anne, but it seemed tha
Sean ran over as soon as Cody called him daddy. Luckily there weren't many people in the lobby, if it's crowded here, Sean will certainly be talked about by many people."Don't call me like that," Sean said in a whisper.Cody's face that was originally looking happy slowly turned into a frown. Sean looked around, but he couldn't find Jessie."Did you come here alone?" asked Sean a little disbelievingly."Yeah, I'm here without mommy."Sean massaged his tense neck. Exactly what is Jessie planning again? How could Jessie have her son come here alone?Although hesitating, Sean finally said, “Are you thirsty? Do you want to drink something?”Cody nodded his head, then his index finger pointed to the coffee shop that was actually in the lobby. "The strawberry juice over there is really good, but yesterday mom was in a hurry to take me home.""Okay, you can drink strawberry juice again."Sean walked first to the co
Sean no longer asked where Cody's house was because Sean was sure that Jessie still lived in their old house. Cody was amazed that Sean knew that."Wow. You know my house," said Cody.Cody's call made Sean comfortable because daddy's calls were too burdensome for him. "Of course I know. This house used to be my home.”Cody chuckled, then he got out of the car. Cody waited patiently for Sean to turn off the engine and get out of the car. A look of admiration was cast by Cody at his stepfather. From what he had read in many fairy tales, the stepfather or stepmother was always described as a bad person, but Sean was not like that. Sean was so kind that he drove Cody home.As soon as Sean got out of the car, he looked at his old house with a strange feeling. After marrying Jessie, Sean bought this house for his new life, but they eventually decided to divorce. Sean's disappointment was too big for Jessie, it made him leave their house. Sean gave his hou
Sean lay down beside Harriet. He had changed the compress on Harriet's forehead several times, hoping his little daughter's fever would go down quickly. Now Sean was browsing the internet on his cell phone about what he had to do to end Harriet's fever, but Anne had already done all that. Anne was clearly experienced as a mother, but for Sean this was confusing. This is the first time Harriet has been sick after Angel's death. It made Sean feel clueless and useless.Maybe Sean should have calmed down a bit.Sean tried to close his eyes. He was trying hard to sleep. Unfortunately tonight was the same as the previous nights. Again and again he had insomnia. He was trying hard not to take sleeping pills because of what Anne said. Dependence on sleeping pills can harm his body.Unable to sleep, Sean got out of bed to reach Angel's unfinished novel on the table. Sean had read it over ten times, but he never got bored. Honestly, Sean is quite curious about the ending
This morning Sean and Harriet were at Angel's grave. Harriet's fever hadn't gone away since last night, but she insisted on coming here and Sean had already agreed to that too. So that Sean couldn't help but fulfill his promise to Harriet, otherwise Harriet would definitely be angry with Sean again. Now Harriet is coloring at the edge of Angel's grave and occasionally she invites Angel to talk. Of course Harriet didn't get anything in return, but Harriet was still happy to be around Angel.“Don't sit outside the cloth. Your clothes will get dirty, honey," Sean said as he sat Harriet on the cloth he had brought from home on purpose. At first Harriet wanted to bring lots of toys so she could play to her heart's content at Angel's grave, but Sean told his little daughter to bring just one thing. Harriet's knee hadn't fully healed yet, so Sean still had to carry Harriet's body. Bringing a lot of Harriet's toys here would have been hard for Sean."Daddy?
"I didn't think the guest that came here was you," Steve said as soon as he saw Harvey in his office. They weren't close, let alone Harvey suddenly came here. He closed his conference room door, then he walked over to sit across from Harvey. “The last thing I remember is you hitting me when we met at the cinema. Are you here because you want to beat me up again?”Harvey laughed lazily. "I beat you when you're not working. You're in the office right now and if I do that, your employees will think I'm unethical.”"Then what are you doing here?"“Of course I want legal consultation. Aren't you a lawyer?" asked Harvey in a sarcastic voice. To Harvey, Steve looked more like a goddamn loser. The profession of attorney was not at all appropriate for Steve.“What case would you like to consult?” Steve is now starting to type on the laptop keyboard.“A murder case made up like an accident.”Steve gave h
Yes, Sean was right when he told Harvey he was going to Cody's school. Harvey seemed surprised that this felt sudden. Sean had never said anything before, let alone asked Harvey for his opinion on this. After all, Sean never saw Jessie again after the divorce.“When did you meet Jessie and Cody? Why didn't you tell me?""On the first day I came back to the office, they came to see me," Sean recalled.“Did Jessie ask you for money? Did she approach you again after she found out that Angel was gone?” Harvey's question was careful, but he needed to stress this so Sean wouldn't take the wrong step."I doubt Jessie knows that fact.""Then why did she met you?""Because of Cody. Tomorrow is Father's Day and his first day of kindergarten too. The school asked the fathers to come.”Harvey was silent for a moment. "Are you sure, Sean? Do you know the risks that might occur next?” Harvey reminded him.&ldquo
Today Darla decided to skip work by locking herself in her room. Last night she ran away from the club because Britney said she had a client. She even had to be chased by two of Britney's bodyguards and she also made a man's cell phone fall because she was in such a hurry to run. Luckily, Darla managed to escape by entering one of the malls.Darla is not lazy to work, she is just traumatized. Two days ago Darla got a client named Steve. Steve is a totally insane and psycho client. Honestly, Darla seems traumatized and she is afraid to serve other clients."Darla! Why are you being childish like this?!” shoted Britney as soon as Darla's cell phone was to her ear. “Yesterday I was able to forgive you, but why are you acting up again now?!”"I'm not acting. I'm scared, Britney!" Darla shouted not wanting to lose.“What are you afraid of? Don't tell me it's just your excuse for skipping work because I treated you special, Darla.”
Darla removed the blanket covering her body. Tears had fallen from her eyes and her head was starting to feel dizzy. After Britney said she would give her three days off, Darla could feel better. At least she can rest her body and mind in a short time. Now Darla got off the bed wiping the tears from her cheeks. No, Darla couldn't keep thinking about it. Tonight he had to do something because tonight she could take a day off from work.Darla's feet slowly headed for the bedroom door, then she found Noah who was surprised to be caught eavesdropping on Darla for the second time. Noah was ready to defend himself that he wasn't really eavesdropping because he couldn't hear anything, but Darla just passed Noah to walk into the kitchen.Noah furrowed his brows in surprise. Darla would usually scold him or at least tell him to stop wanting to know about Darla's business, but Noah's older sister was silent. So Noah spoke first, “Darla? Are you okay? Why don't you s
