Chapter 171

This morning Harriet was woken up and bathed by Anne. Harriet spoke only as needed and she mostly nodded or shook her head when Anne asked. Anne could feel the change. Usually her granddaughter was always chatty and cheerful, but since yesterday Harriet had not shown much expression.

"Grandma? May I continue eating these pancakes for lunch?” asked Harriet as she took a spoonful of pancakes into her mouth.

"Why? Are grandma's pancakes bad?"

“It's really good, but… I'm not in the mood to eat.”
