Several weeks passed in a jiffy. While her connection grew closer and intense with Ethan, Ava realized she had equally drawn apart from her best friend.
She tried to talk to him several times, and he simply avoided striking a conversation with her. He always came up with excuses and exited, leaving her wonder as to what had bothered him about her all of a sudden.
It was a fine evening. Dusk has blanketed the sky and the brigade of stars have begun flickering. One after another... Brighter and better. She was engrossed adoring their beauty in her room when she heard distant whispers of her parents.
They were talking about Dylan and his parents... They were invited for dinner.
She was about to dash out of the room and inquire her parents whether or not what she heard was correct, but then her mother called out for Ava, "Ava, Ava do you hear me?"
How coul
Ava's POV'Ethan calling...'His number kept flashing on my phone constantly. Probably this was the twenty fifth time, but I let it stay untouched. The phone lied on the beside me while I hugged the pillow under my chest and cried, staring at it.He was not just calling me, there were also many messages that came from him. But I only ignored them. No, I wasn't being ungrateful for the magic he has brought in my life. Neither was I refusing the cheerfulness he filled my life with. I just... Couldn't look over Dylan's words.Had I really changed?Had Ethan changed me so bad that my own best friend... My best friend who had shared all my good and bad times with me was ignoring me because of that.I didn't want to believe it, but if he had noticed it... Dylan, my best friend, then I have to say
The singing of birds vibrated Ava’s tympanic membrane as and when she set foot in the quiet context of school. The rain was marginally drizzling, the air looking foggy. There was a sense of callousness in the atmosphere that tickled her skin freezing. The air was minty with the fresh smell of lilies drawing inside her lungs while she breathed. Regardless of how sweet and consoling the natural environment was, her heart remained upset. The disturbance sat on her fair skin in the face of pallidness as if she had been distraught. So was she. When she had assumed everything was going great. Life betrayed. Life threw back at her face a hurtful, embarrassing sarcasm not before reminding her that no person is completely happy in life. No one.She had just started to believe in her living, looking forward to having a cheerful life under the presence of her parents wit
His eyes grazing her face with utter aggression, lips twisting and turning in annoyance, Ethan clutched his fingers into a fist by the side of his waist. She forgot she was nervous and frightened some time back. A look of his face and all the words Dylan told to her came rushing into her mind.He crazily darted her with murderous looks while she sat there on the bench with a fallen, red, teary face.It was visible she was disturbed about something. It has to be vulnerable otherwise it would not have hurt her so badly that she would avoid him.Nevertheless, she could directly tell him the same. She could have shared her feelings with him and they could solve it together. But she preferred to do what he hated the most. Ignore him!"Ava," As Ethan advanced toward her inside the class, she started collecting her stuff. She was preparing to lea
As a gush of air passed by brushing her hair and tickling her skin, Ava stood there wondering about Noah.'He didn't tell me about coming here. Uh, may be he came here to talk to Dylan about our conversation.'She was biting on her lips while her gaze remained glued to the closed door of Dylan's house as she kept rooted a few yards away from there. Her hands were tucked in the pockets, face slightly red of morning weeping. After having avoided Ethan in school and asking him to give her some space, she had sought to spend some time on the campus by sitting on the green bed of grass under the sunlight. Her idea did not work notwithstanding. Dylan had come today. He was refusing her calls too. She desired to talk to him and ask him why he was like that! And when he refused to take her calls or see her messages, she decided to arrive at his place and talk to him.
Noah's POV"Ava, wait!" Dylan plucked the apron away from his body.He gave a push on my chest and ran behind her, his body plunging toward the door as if the house was on fire. And I... I stood in my place, silent. Quiet with shallow breathing and eyelids stuck atop.Like how a kid reacts after getting caught by his mother while stealing from the candy jar, Dylan behaved exactly the same before he followed Ava out.But I.. I continued to root in my spot. Stilled. Without breathing. With eyes fixed at the door that slapped against the adjacent wall post Dylan pulled it open as Ava walked out of it.I remained silent, emotionless and lost because I could see Ava's reaction play at the back of my head.I had known it forever. I was certain of how my sister would react on knowing that I, he
Ava's POVEmily invited me in. She was petrified after noticing my tears and red face."Here, take this." Her hands supported the glass and led it near my mouth so I could drink from it.My throat has gone dry. Totally dry as you would see a land during a tough summer morning. A land with cracks and no ounce of moisture in it.Thankfully, as the water passed through the pipe in my throat, my increased heart beats calmed down a little bit. It had no effect on my shivering, regardless. My fingers quivered like a window under a stormy rainy day. My lips shook as though I was under severe trauma. So was I. Only I could not believe if it was true or not. What I saw... What I heard was replaying in my mind ceaselessly."Good. Now take deep breaths and try to calm yourself down!" I sought to follow Emily's words, but in vain.
Ava’s POVMy feet shuffled aimlessly on the streets. The dusky dawn was up on my head, clouds turning black. Birds were returning to their nests but here I, I was roaming astray not knowing where to go.I needed space. Above all I did not want to face Noah. The thought of seeing him alone caused me to think back about him and Dylan. How could he even think of being with Dylan? Ugh, could not he just avoid feeling what he may have felt out of his hormones? My shoulders feel heavy. They ached as though they were burdened with the truth from today. It was burdened which I wish to pull off my shoulders and throw far… far away.A lone dark cloud of mockery danced over my head. Great! What I was feeling was not enough to drench me in shame that now this cloud was hovering on my head to drench me in rain?“Huh,” I
44 Ethan's POV "You found her?" Waiting by the side of street near school, I talked to my friend Jack. His sigh was the first answer that came than his reply, "Unfortunately not. I looked everywhere. She is nowhere near her house." "Fuck! This girl will kill me one day." I worried my lower lip between the teeth. "Alright then, thanks buddy. It is almost night. You better head back home, I will search for Ava alone." I said, stretching my hands. My entire body was aching. I have been looking crazily for Ava everywhere in the city where she could go.
A few months later, The entire school building was decorated with a Pride theme. There were long strings of rainbow flags tied from one end of the two walls to another in each corridor. Students giggled and shot pictures under a tree that was yet again decorated with colours reflecting pride celebration. Their t-shirts had unicorns or rainbows while a circular batch on their chest glowed, that read, 'I support LGBT' The floor had glitters. There were rainbow balloons stuck on the wall. Girls wore rainbow tiaras and tassel garlands while the boys had rainbow wigs put on. There was no wall within the school building that didn't have pride hashtags. Various tags were scribbled on colourful chart papers and stuck out there. From #supportlgbt #lovefindsitsway #pride #iamproudofmyself and many more. Some creative souls have used VIBGYOR colours on their hashta
"Doctor," Standing in a corner meekly, Ava watched her dad stop the doctor as he came out of the OT. His eyebrows widened and a sigh escaped. From his expressions, she knew the news was not good. But still she hopefully compressed her palm on the chest, wishing to hear the words everyone desired. "We are trying our best." he said, his hand squeezing Mr. Jones' shoulder before he excused himself and left. Once again the corridor of the hospital bathed in silence as everyone stood scattered here and there with a fallen and pale face. After Ethan arrived in time at the clock tower, he dealt with Bill and rushed both Dylan and Noah to hospital. They had passed out. Worst... Dylan was not breathing given that he was already injured and the fight did more harm to his body. And Noah, he bled profusely that his
"D-dylan?" Ava’s heart sunk into calmness. Her eyes stormed with tears. She sniffed feeling her lungs refuse oxygen. The hair on her skin erected as the disheveled stature of her best friend came to view."How dare you bitch get my girl. I told you to stay away from her, didn't I?" Dylan roared on top of his lungs as he plunged a punch on Bill's right cheek. His blow threw him to the ground, his face down. "You coerced us to do shitty stuff, scared us with our relationship secrets and what not... Yet after doing so much you are here with her. How dare you." He was a mess of blood, smell of sweat and anger. His eyes were not two normal human eyes. They had transformed into dark ember balls that depicted small versions of fire ball. They glared down at Bill as he lashed him with blows and kicks.Ava could not take her eyes away. He finally came. Her best friend. They were
A veil of darkness clutched her vision unseen. Ava could see nothing. Her limbs hurt and head spun. Though there was that veil before her eyes still she can sense unusual happenings taking place around her.She can hear it. A sound of metal striking on something. It was intense and loud. Not ears deafening but a noise that brought a wave of terror along with it and crashed against the wall of her heart, shuddering her.And then there was that voice. Slow and quiet. Heavy with piss and husky with grunt. She also heard loud breathing beside it which indicated labour. Whoever it was, was working hard. Striking hard and breathing hard.Alas her body won’t support her thoughts. She had an important urge to see this person as well as the task he had undertaken and why. Unfortunately, the cover of her lids won’t elevate and let her see a thing. Not until she heard the voice clear a
Ethan’s face turned the colour of dead. It was pale, lips parted and breaths stuck in his windpipe, “You are joking, aren’t you? I have known Bill since childhood and I disagree with what you just claimed.” The friendship in his heart toward Bill did not convince him to accept their accusation. They just said that Bill, his innocent friend, coerced them to do things as he threatened them. Like shit, Bill could do anything but force someone. He was shy. He never opened his mouth to fight back people who tried to trouble him when alone. Although he was a friend to a jerk like Ethan, he remained non violent to people who picked on him with the intention to avenge Ethan for bullying them. When he could not protect himself from others' trouble, there was no chance that he would be trouble to anyone.About bothering them using their relationship status as a bait was
Ethan's POV"No, Sally. I said no.""But why? I see you eagerly need a lay. Then why not?""Because I am not interested in you." Slightly pushing Sally, one of my classmates behind, I got up from the counter at the club and walked away."Fuck you, jerk!" I let her words unheeded and joined my other friends in a booth. They were having fun. Playing a random stupid game, they cried in happiness and laughed like crazy. But here, I slumped as a disinterested mess of feelings and bad mood as the music hurt my ears.I miss Ava. If we had not had that fight and that stupid break up, I had been with her. We would have been probably enjoying a night ride while she hugged me from the back and laughed near my ear.It has been a month and we didn't talk except for certain events when it became important to face each other. Only for argu
Ava's POVYet another few hours rolled by with me shedding my tears of pain. The dilemma won't let me breathe peacefully. My heart felt heavy. As if it was weighed with the burden of something I was to be accused. While the sky darkened pitch black, stars twinkled quite aggressively. But here, in the room, I felt suffocated. My lungs won't swell properly, I could not breath deeply. This room was making my breathing hard which is why, I immediately pulled out a jacket and threw it around my back, and came out of my room.My legs halted at the door, the conversation I had with Noah now bothered me. It led me to look at the door of his room, it was closed. I wished to go inside and hug him, but my body would not follow it.I had mixed feelings. Sympathy and anger combined. I wanted my brother back as my best brother. I wanted the both of us to be best sib
Ava retired home after lectures. She had expected at least Dylan to follow her post that event but he didn't. Rather, he and Ethan enjoyed pizza in canteen while she sat alone munching on an apple. She missed all the fun she used to have with Ethan and other. But they were not missing her. They seemed to savour their lives without her.Had she really meant nothing to them?As tears formed again, Ava got inside her room and threw the bag on floor. She was about to jump on bed and cry to herself when she heard noises coming from Noah's room. She was skeptical and didn't want to see him yet her legs dragged her there. And to her dismay, Noah was sitting on floor with a bleeding heel. As she could see it, he had mistakenly stepped on broken pieces of glass that were scattered around on floor."Ughh, this hurts!" she clenched her fingers watching
"Miss. Jones, mind telling us about where you are lost? We would love to bring you back to earth so you pay attention in the class." Ava was looking out of the window during the class, when the teacher saw her."Umm, Sorry ma'am." She looked down in her book while the teacher rolled her eyes before resuming her teaching.Ava clutched her teeth tight and raised her head to focus. Her gaze eventually crossed the room and met with the dark pair of eyes that had been staring at her through out.Ethan.He was sitting with Dylan. The two guys were looking at her. Ethan with emotionless eyes while Dylan with sympathy.Ava ignored them both and concentrated on the diagram that teacher was explaining.'I hate them both. They are liars and cheaters.' She played with her pen, still being able to feel Ethan'
