Emma's chest bore the weight of an indescribable heaviness, a pervasive feeling of everything being awry suffocating her. The guilt trip waged war on her, a relentless onslaught of emotions—lust, anger, and sorrow, all hitting below the belt. Tears cascaded down, forming rivulets that soaked Shane's shirt. Despite his earnest attempts to calm her, his soothing words and gentle coos seemed powerless against the turmoil within her.

"It's okay, Em... it's not a big deal. I'm not going anywhere. We have our whole lives ahead. Just shush," he murmured, but his reassurances only triggered more tears. "I am here with you, Emma. I love you," he declared, his words echoing with sincerity, causing her heart to shudder.
