Monday had arrived like the speed of light. The email had told me that I'd be starting my work on a Monday.
I had decided to dress as beautiful as I could on my first day of work in a very famous company. I was going to be working as the personal assistant and secretary of a billionaire. A BILLIONAIRE. I had never even seen a millionaire but I'd be standing side by side with not just any billionaire, but Don Jones, a multi billionaire. I walked inside the company, heading straight to Dina who smiled at me. "Wow Eri, you go the job?" "Yes, I'm so happy." I took the pen, wrote my name and the time. "Please where's my office?" "It's on the last floor." "Thanks." I dropped the pen, about to leave before Dina's words stopped me "You know, you should be coming more early. You're late and Mr Jones hate people coming late." "I'm not late." That was surprising to hear, I even thought I had come too early so I would not cause any problem on my first day of work. "It's 8:14" She said like I had not just finished writing the time. "Yeah and work starts 9 right?" I felt my heart racing faster. Did work not start 9? Had I guessed wrong? "No, where did you get that from? Work starts 8." "What?" I quickly ran to the elevator, pressing the button multiple times, this was my first day of work and I was late. I could not risk losing this job. I needed it. The elevator opened and a few people walked out of it while I rushed in, pressing the 30th floor. "Come on move faster you this elevator." It was frustrating how an elevator could take a million years to finally ding. As soon as it opened, I ran out of it, rushing to door of the office I was sure was Mr Jones' as it was decorated differently. Miss Donna had let me know that we'd be staying in the same office and once I put my business card in some thing, the door would open. I removed my business card from the same handbag I had bought for the interview. I inserted the card in the hole, and the door opened. I placed my business card back in the bag. I took a deep breath before grabbing the door handle and pulling it. I closed it shut as soon as I was inside the prodigious office. It had everything needed in an office. The walls were also glass and the view from up here was even more breath-taking. "Why are you late?" A deep and cold voice called. I had not even noticed the man sitting on the chair in front of the table that lay close to the wall. I stared at him and my goodness, was this how handsome Don Jones was? Nobody told me he was this hot. He had well defined jawlines, a prominent nose and high cheekbones that made me wonder how on earth a man could been so damn gorgeous. He had smooth and straight black hair that fell on his forehead. I only realized I had been staring at his full and perfectly shaped black eyebrows when they furrowed to form a frown. I stared at his eyes and he held my gaze with those devilish dark blue eyes. I froze at his gaze. What was I supposed to say. "I asked you a question." His voice was stern and caused shivers of fear to run down my spine. "I-I," I had no idea what happened to my voice. His glare did no good in calming me down. I clutched on to the handle of my bag tight. When I finally found my voice, I managed a "I'm sorry sir." I felt it would be better if I kept my head on the floor. "Sorry?" I didn't know what he was doing as I wasn't staring at him but when I heard buttons, I guessed he was dialling a number. "Miss Donna, could you come to my office?" About two minutes of me just standing there and staring at him type aggressively on the keyboard of the poor laptop, a knock came from the door. "Come in." He still maintained the sternness in his tone. I kept on praying silently that I hadn't lost my job, that'd be the worst thing to ever happen. The first day of one's job is the last day. Suzy and Rose would be so disappointed and most especially, I wouldn't be able to raise the money for Suzy's surgery. Miss Donna opened the door, walking in. She stared at me and her expression read 'what have you done'. "You called for me Mr Jones." She said in such a formal tone I wondered if I could speak similarly. "What is this you got for me?" He asked, his voice not loud but enough to instill fear in someone. Did he just use 'what' for me? I could already sense that working here would need a lot of getting used to, that is if I'm not fired already. "I apologize sincerely for her mistake." She said with a small bow of the head. "I think you need to teach her how working here is." "Will do sir." *** I was sitting opposite Miss Donna who stared at me in surprise. "Miss Eri, I think there are a lot of things you still need to know about working here with Mr Jones. How could you come late on your first day of work?" "I'm really sorry about that, I thought work started 9 o clock." I don't know why I thought that, but that just felt correct. She heaved a sigh, handing me a pile of paper stapled together. "What is this?" I asked, when I took it from her hand, trying to study it. "I want you to know that I was Mr Jones personal assistant and secretary before you, and as soon as you start your work today, I would be leaving the company so I'm going to pitch you on things." She rested both elbows on the table, intertwining her fingers together. "A personal assistant to the Jones family is a very big deal. You will be with Mr Jones everytime and you will hear every of his secrets, you will know things no one else is supposed to know about." The way she said it sounded suspicious. Was Mr Jones in some illegal act or something? "And you should know that you'd be with him most of the times of your day," she continued, "and since you'd be listening to most of his conversations, you'd need to sign this that I handed to you. It says that no matter how much you hear of Mr Jones conversation, you must and must never say it to anyone." The way she made it sound only made me doubt if this was a good idea. Was I probably involving myself in a criminal act? "If you tell anyone about anything you hear, you'll be arrested." She said, and at that point I was already considering backing out. What if I hear he killed someone and I report it, I'd be arrested too for doing the right thing. I stared at the paper in my hand, this was probably not a good idea, I could find another way to get the money. "You salary would be $10000 per month considering the fact that you'd be spending a whole lot of your time in work." With that I jerked my head to face her. $10000. What! That was way more than I had ever gotten in a year. With that, I could get the money for Suzy's surgery in less than 6 months. Who cared if he was some Mafia boss or something. I was getting my money for keeping my mouth shut, so what the fuck is my problem. Money is Money. _____ I had been working with Mr Jones for a week now and trust me when I say it's not easy. I barely have time to rest. Even on my break. I was always doing one thing or another. So far, I hadn't heard anything that could show he was a criminal or something so let's say I'm still safe. The intercom rang just when I was planning on having a few minutes rest. I sighed, answering it. "Miss Eri, I need you to do something for me." With that he hung up. He had been such a frustrating boss to work with, maybe that was why Miss Donna resigned. When she had told me she resigned willingly, I had thought she was not sane, why would anyone leave a job where they got paid $10000 a month. She said she had been working for 2 years and she had enough money to go on holidays and have fun. I got up from my chair, took my tab and a pen which I was sure I was going to need then walked towards the door that separated both our office. When I was inside his office, I sighted him typing something on his laptop. Miss Donna had pitched it on me that that was my queue to walk to the opposite side of the table and just stand there till he started talking. I waited for 2 frustrating minutes of him just typing on his laptop, I mean why call me and not say a word when I arrive. He was so annoying. He took some papers that were beside him, handing it to me while still typing on his laptop with the second hand. "I need you to work on these papers." He said not even staring at me, so annoying. I collected the paper from him. "Okay sir." "Make some corrections on the parts marked red and the parts marked green need to be mended on, also lay more emphasis on the part marked purple" He was still typing. I didn't leave because according to Miss Donna, leaving when he didn't ask you to was also a problem. "Also," he turned to face me and for some reason those dark blue eyes on my hazel eyes made my heart flutter a little, just a little, "I need you to find a time next week for me to have a meeting with the Dilly's international." I wrote that down on the tab, that was when I remembered. "You have a meeting with Mrs Zach in twenty minutes time." "That's today?" Although he sounded surprised, his expression showed no such thing. "Okay then Miss Eri," he was interrupted by a knock on the door that brought a frown to his face, "come in." I wondered if he ever spoke without sounding so stern. The door opened, a female walked in. She was wearing a dark green gown that lay a little below her butt and showed an awful lot of her cleavage. She had straight blonde hair that was brushed neatly. We were going to be about the same height and size. The sound of her heels was loud in the silent office as she walked towards us. I tried to figure out who she was but no one came to mind. Maybe she was his friend. Don didn't look like someone who had friends so I tried to study his expression but he had a blank expression on. What was wrong with this dude? I turned back to the lady who was now standing beside me. "I want to have a word with you." Her voice possessed wealth. She was obviously going to be a millionaire or billionaire's child. She spoke wealth in every area of her. Her gaze turned to me which I assumed was my queue to leave. "I'll be in my office Mr Jones." I was about to leave when he spoke. "Did I ask you to leave?" His voice still had that superiority in it. He obviously never felt inferior to anyone. "Huh?" I turned to him, confused. This lady here wanted to talk to him, why would he want me to still stay here. That was when I remembered Miss Donna letting me know that I'd know a lot of his secrets and I'd be there even when he's talking personal stuff. "Come here." He directed me to stand beside his chair which I immediately complied to. The lady let out a scoff. "Must she really be here?" The way she said it made it clear that the presence of every other secretary Don had always infuriated her. Don continued typing on his laptop. I had no idea what she was so busy doing on that laptop, in fact I wondered what he ever did on the laptop, he was always with it. I just faced the floor remembering when Miss Donna told me that no matter what, whenever Don was talking to someone about personal matters in my presence, I must not act like I can hear a word. I should just totally ignore or else my attention is bought to the conversation. "Why are you here?" Don asked, not raising his head from his laptop. Gosh this guy was so frustrating, I could imagine being this lady and how frustrated I'd be. "Don," she sounded like she was trying to suppress her choler but to no avail, "we're getting married in 3 weeks time, don't you think we need to talk." Married? Whoa, I was literally standing in front of the anonymous fiancee. If not because of the contract I signed, if I were to reveal this to the media, I'd get a lot of money. I wondered who she was, there were 3 different female everyone guessed was going to be the bride. Was this girl part of them, I didn't know their faces. "Than talk." "Listen, I want you to know that I love you so much and although this was supposed to be an arranged marriage—" "It not supposed to be." He cut her off, dramatically stopping his typing on the keyboard. "Excuse?" "It's not supposed to be an arranged marriage," he turned his head to her direction, "it is an arranged marriage and I have no idea why you decided to let yourself expect any other thing apart from the way it'd favour both companies." I turned my head to see her expression immediately before turning it back to the floor. She was totally agitated, she looked like she could lose it any moment. "Is this marriage only about the benefit it would have to our companies." "Yes." He showed no emotion in his tone and just continued typing on his laptop. "So you don't even feel a little bit of attraction." "No June, now can you leave me alone. I have a meeting to attend to." He said, checking the time on the obviously dispendious watch on his right hand. June, as in June Silver. So he had gone for her. Woah, if I were to tell Rose, she most definitely wouldn't believe me. If I really hadn't signed the contract, I'd let the world know this. "We'll reschedule." June said, turning to me. "Hey, reschedule our meeting to when he's less busy. Make sure you pick a date before the wedding." With that, she stomped out of the office slamming the door behind her."Get me a cup of coffee." He demanded. He was way too demanding. Maybe if he said 'please' once in a while, it may make working with him less stressful.I immediately complied to his request, making a cup of coffee for him which I placed on a small tray, handing it over to him when I had reached him. If I had expected a 'thank you' from him, I was probably losing it. He just took the cup and started sipping from it and guess what, he still had his head buried to that laptop."Miss Eri, I'd need you to find a time where I'd be free, I need to have a meeting with the CEO of Centeial international, I can't postpone it because they are one of the most prominent companies and they want to strike a deal with Jonzx Haiè. Do you understand?"I had no idea why he was being so detailed but I nodded either way. "Yes sir." I checked the tab for any available space."The meeting would hold between 2-2:45 p:m tomorrow." I continued scrolling on the tab. "And you have a meeting with the fellow share
-Don Jones-I dropped my laptop in my back, checking the time on the clock on my desk, it was 9 p.m already. I was sure Miss Dina would be so frustrated working as the receptionist knowing she can't close till I leave the office.I stood up, holding my bag. I felt continues vibrations coming from the pocket of my trouser. When I removed my phone to check who was calling, I was not surprised to see my mom calling. She called very often. I answered the call, walking towards the door."Yes mom.""Are you done with working?" The sweet and nice tone she always possessed spoke in my ears."Hmm, why?" I got out of my office, locking it, before heading to the elevator. I pressed the button and watched the door separate before entering it, pushing the first floor button, I stared as the door closed."Could help me pick Violin on your way? She went on a date to some bar called Holm's or something and was ditched by the guy so she needs someone to pick her up.""Why can't you send a driver or so
I thought I'd feel odd standing in front of Don's family but instead, it was the opposite. I felt more comfortable when I saw the other PA's from other family member."Everything's going well, I just can't wait for this wedding. I'm so happy." A woman who I assumed to be Don's mom said in such a sweet and familiar tone. "Yes, everything seems to be ready." Don spoke in an uninterested tone. I wondered how stressful it'd be being June at that moment. His mother turned to my direction. "Oh my, is this your new personal assistant?" Don didn't reply, I wasn't sure he heard her or if he heard, maybe he just chose to ignore. "Wow, you remind me so much of June. If it weren't for the different hair, I would guess you were June from behind."I wasn't sure if that was a compliment, but I smiled. "Thank you Mrs Jones.""I'm no longer going to be Mrs Jones when June gets married so I think I'd prefer you call me Miss Leila."I had no idea what to say. All eyes were on me which was so discomfort
Don Jones-I wasn't sure if knowing I was getting married today was supposed to make me happy or not.It was definitely going to increase my stocks as joining hands with the Silvers international was a big deal. This was certainly a good idea. The wedding was not until 2 p.m, this was just 8 a.m although I was already in the hall, dressed.I stared at myself once more in the mirror, I looked stunning in the black custom-made tailored tuxedo I had on. My hair had been greased to the back which I would admit suit me a lot.A knock came from the door. "Come in."The door opened and Miss Eri appeared. She looked stunning, I don't think I've ever seen her this beautiful before. She was dressed in a red knee length gown that showed off her curves. Her hair was left to fall beautifully, she hadn't done a lot of makeup, but her natural self was enough to make a man drool.I didn't let any of this admiration evident in my face as I just maintained a straight face. She smiled. "It's your weddin
Never in a million years would I have guessed I'd be getting married like this. When Don had told his family, they had been so against it, especially a girl who was about my age, I think her name was Violin or something. His dad had made his 'no' as evident as anything. The way all of them refused me was enough to make me change my mind, but Don holding my hand made me feel assured, I felt like I had authority. After lots and lots of persuasion, they finally agreed.Luckily, June's wedding dress fit me perfectly but was equally discomforting, it showed an indecent amount of my cleavage. The hairstylist had done my hair in ways I didn't know was possible. My makeup was stunning, when I stared at myself in the mirror I couldn't believe who was there.I was literally getting married to a multi billionaire. I was going to be swimming in riches. Was this really a good idea? This was only a marriage of two years, it's not like I'm forced to spend the rest of my life with him.But didn't it
A scream left my throat as I saw my sister, only family member, lay lifeless on the floor.I ran to her, with shaky hands, remembering how I'd felt my mom's cold body, I touched her skin.A pinch of relief flowed through my blood when I realized she was still warm.Oh thank God. I knelt down beside her, tapping her, tears blurring my sight. "Suzy, Suzy wake up."I tried to raise her up, but knew it'd be to no advantage so I stood up, running out of the room and out of the house to where the driver was still packed."Help! I need your help!" I couldn't get my head straight. The man looked confused, his eyes were bulged out and he looked scared, like he was experiencing a crime scene."I-Is everything okay ma'am." His voice was shaky, but that wasn't what I cared about."I need you to take her to the hospital, now!" My whole body was shaking, my breath seemed to be coming out slower. He got down from the car immediately, running into the house like the speed of light.I followed behind
I came out of the bathroom. That was the best shower I'd ever had in years. I took my bath in a bathtub, not just any bathtub but an expensive one.Suzy and Rose would have loved to see this life. Or maybe they can. There was a knock from the door. I was wrapped in a towel since I had no clothes apart from the wedding dress, I didn't bring any of my clothes."Is that a male or female?" I had to confirm, clutching hard to the towel on my body. It was white and comfortable, fluffy and soft. Also looked expensive."Female ma'am." She replied."Okay, you can come in."The door opened and a different maid walked in with a traveller's bag. She closed the door as soon as she was in."We went to get your clothes from your house." She said, head bowed.I wasn't sure if that was supposed to make me relieved or annoyed. No one asked my premission before entering into my house, wasn't that against the law or something? But at least, I had clothes to wear. I checked the time on a wall clock, it wa
-Don Jones-I stared at her bewildered expression, her chest rising and falling rapidly. Her cheeks had turned red.I had to hold back my laughter. When she'd said we won't have any physical contact, I obviously didn't want such with her either, it's not like this is some kind of love marriage or something.I had decided to just check her reaction if I were to wrap my arms round her waist, pretending to attempt to kiss her.I had actually not expected this to be her reaction. I thought she was going to push me away, cussing at me or something but staring at her, I guessed I preferred this reaction from her.As I leaned closer to her, our lips few inches from each other, I suddenly felt a pinch of nervousness. I leaned closer, our lips not touching but brushing our cheeks together until my lips met her ears."Do you mean this close?" I whispered, feeling the heat from her skin."Huh?" Her voice was low, it sounded like she didn't understand what I said at first, but when I drifted apa
How could she be Catherine's daughter? How did I end up falling in love with her daughter? She'd never forgive me If she found out.I should've not been such a stupid child always wanting things to go my way. Now I ended up like this.My life would never be complete without her. She'd leave me and I wouldn't be able to do anything. I would end up miserable without her.Catherine was obviously someone special in her life. Eri's obviously hated me since I caused her mom's death, what do I do?I have to let her know. I need to let her know because I can't live the rest of my life with the guilt of knowing I killed her mother. The sound of the door opening caused me to jerk my eyes open.I sat up straight on the bed, turning to see Eri sauntering in."I'm sorry, did I wake you up?" She came to take a seat beside me."No, I wasn't sleeping."I had no idea if that was true. Was I just thinking with my eyes closed? Or was I dreaming and thinking about it all in my dream?Staring at her, I fe
-Don Jones-I stretched my arms to the air, yawning and sitting straight on the bed.I was surprised when I checked the time on the wall clock. It was 9p.m, well thank goodness today was Saturday so I could rest all day.The door opened, and without any surprise, Eri ambled in. She looked stunning in the purple spaghetti handle shirt she wore and grey miniskirt. She was also holding a purple purse."Good morning my love." She sauntered towards me, sitting on the bed beside me and planting a kiss on my cheeks."You look beautiful, are you heading somewhere?" I asked. She had a smile on.I loved having to see her first thing in the morning. Her presence was like a gift to me and I just wanted every other day to be filled with happiness."Yes, today's Suzy's appointment with the doctor for radiation therapy." She dramatically swiped no sweat off her forehead. "Finally she's going to be completely healed and there'd be no need for stress or other things.""I'm happy for you. Will you stay
"Will you ever leave that door?" Don asked, his head fixed to his laptop.I still stayed in the position, folded arms, leaning against the door that connects both our offices."Why didn't you tell me you've known June for fifteen years?" I furrowed my brows. He still didn't raise his head from that laptop. "You never asked."I scoffed. "You're so annoying."He finally rose his head from the laptop. "Okay, what do you want to know?" He had a smile on."A lot, like how you two met and how long you've dated.""Why are you suddenly curious to know that?" He asked with a raised brow. "Come sit here." He gestured to the seat that was beside his chair.Hesitantly, I shambled to seat where he told me to. Once beside him, be wrapped an arm round my waist which I didn't protest to."Yesterday, when you'd gone to work she'd started saying bullshits like how she's going to have you and I must leave you alone. It's annoying."His brows were pulled together in a frown before his expression changed
"This week had been a lovely one guys." I told Suzy and Rose through the video call.I wasn't lying, we'd never loved each other any less for the last one week. All we've been doing is just talk, go to work and on walks, have sex and talk some more.I love him so much and if this is how the rest of my life would be, I'd happily stay this way."That's great, it's been good for me too. Darien doesn't overwork me and sometimes he just let us talk." Rose said with a slight blush."Awwn you too are finding someone to be with." I teased which only made her blush more."It's not like that actually." She said lowly."Suzy, it's your turn to find your man, you're not getting any younger." I said in a mother like tone"I'm not into that yet, until my full recovery I think I'm just going to stay single for the moment." Suzy was brushing her hair."Eri, we both finally decided to share separate rooms. I think Suzy's well enough to take care of herself." Rose said."Really? Well then that's okay,
-Eri Sunville-I hadn't seen Don for about two days and it was getting kind of frustrating. Why is it when I realized I liked the guy that I no longer see him for a while.Hane had suggested he was probably busy with work since I was not going to work as his personal assistant yet. I would continue doing that soon.I checked the time on the wall clock of my room, it was 7p.m. If I didn't see him till the day ends, it'd be three days without even a sign of him.The knock from the door interrupted my thoughts. "Come in."I had expected to see Don but was disappointed when a maid I recognized walked in.She was bowing her head. "Mr Jones asked to see you." That made my insides jump in excitement."Really? Where is he?""He's in his room."I scurried out of my room to his. The door was closed and I felt slightly nervous. Was this how one felt being in love? This was my first time.I gave the door a light knock."Come in." That voice I'd missed for two whole days.I opened the door, closin
-Eri Sunville-"Eri, why did you come? We just left your place yesterday, is everything alright?" Suzy asked, her tone in a mixture of surprise and concern."Can't I come see how my sister is doing." I sauntered in, sitting on one of the sofas."You can, but I'm sure that's not why you're here." Rose ambled in from a door I had no idea where it led.She was right, I hadn't come to just greet them. When they'd come over yesterday, I didn't want to tell them about the kids yet because I just felt like Don could eavesdrop on our conversation, who knows. They both sat on the sofa opposite me. "What's up? Start spilling it out." Rose said.I explained everything that happened with the kiss and how awkward it had been between the both of us since then. They both had the widest smile on. "Oh my gosh, you've finally found the love of your life." Rose scampered towards me, crouching beside me."What love, this has nothing to do with love." I felt color rising to my cheeks."Awwn, I'm so happy
-Eri Sunville-"Are you sure you packed everything you're supposed to? I could've helped you pack, you know." Hane said, ambulating beside me while Don was already in the car."I told you, I don't feel comfortable with you packing my stuff for me, you might be my personal assistant but you're also a friend. And I'm sure I packed everything."Truthfully, I wasn't sure if I packed everything I needed. My thoughts were occupied by the kiss, I couldn't even think straight anymore. The fact I enjoyed the kiss was what I didn't understand. Was it because I liked him or just the kiss alone? He was the first guy I'd ever kissed so maybe I didn't know the fun in kisses, that's why I felt that way.A bodyguard held the door for me, which I entered, sitting comfortably beside Don who had his head burried on his phone. The door closed and our car started moving."How do you feel?" He asked in a less stern tone, his focus still on the phone."Huh?""Does your chest or throat still hurt?""No." Not
-Eri Sunville-I opened my eyes slowly, staring at the white light I could see. For a moment, I was confused. What was happening? Where was I? I didn't remember what had happened last.I felt a sharp pain in my chest and throat causing me to immediately recall everything that had happened with the pool. What happened next? I only recalled the pain I felt drowning with no one to ask for help, but then I don't know what happened afterwards."You're awake." A thick masculine voice I recognized to be Don rang in my eardrums.I turned to see him scurrying towards me from the door, a wide grin planted on his lips. He looked so pale and weak. I'd never seen him like that.I was so confused, especially when he gently leaned closer to give me a hug. "Gosh, I thought you were gone."He didn't pull from the hug. The door opened again, Darien and Hane ambulated in, a smile planted to their faces."What happened?" I asked when Don had finally released me from the hug."I should be asking you that.
"Hane, do you think I look pretty enough? This is my first time going to a dinner party with millionaires and billionaires." I checked myself in the mirror, twirling to see if the wine knee length gown that popped out my curves was best for the dinner party. When Don had told me one of his friends had invited him to a dinner party here in Australia and that I was going to come with him, I was so nervous.I'd never been to a rich person's dinner party, I had no idea how to dress for such occasion.Hane had assisted me in dressing. She picked my dress for me, and was going to help with my hair and makeup."Trust me, you're going to leave all the men drooling with that dress.I chuckled. "Thanks."I sat on the chair in front of the mirror while Hane walked towards me to start doing my makeup."Are you sure you can do these things? Makeup and hair?""Yes, trust me I'd make you look like the prettiest female in that party. All the male would leave their partners to come have a word with yo
