CHAPTER 3

Heather looked up through her switches at the Napoleon of her people. He was not what she had anticipated at all from her parent’s stories. As a matter of fact, he appeared nearly kind. But if she paid attention, she could smell the turnabout of supremacy he carried within him stewing just beneath the face, and she saw no mercy in his dark eyes.

Her casket felt tight as she tried to breathe, and she wondered for the upteenth time what the hell had held her to leave the safety of the apartments she’d been staying in to go wandering off on her own like an idiot.

" Where are your mama and father?" the Napoleon asked her.

Yeah, like there was any chance in hell she was going to tell him that. She licked her dry lips as she allowed about how stylish to answer his question without rankling him.

Deciding that honesty would presumably be the stylish policy in this situation, she lifted her chin and looked him square in the eyes." I hypercritically decline to answer that question, joe. Prince. Sir Prince." She cleared her throat." I love my parents dearly, and there's nothing you can do or say that will make me give them up to you."

One side of his mouth could not feel to decide if he wanted to smile or not. Either he was mildly amused, or he was so appalled at her lack of regard for his royal godness that he'd acquired an willful crack.

" Strangely enough, I do not believe you would, ” he muttered after a long moment, saying further loudly, “ And I do appreciate your honesty." He linked his hands together and did smile also. His teeth were straight and white and perfect. Too perfect." I am only inquiring as to how they are. I mean them no detriment." He looked at her expectantly.

All the little hairs stood up on the reverse of her neck. She took a fortifying quaff of air and steeled herself." Still ai n't passing," she told him forcefully. ending her eyes tight, she braced herself for the impacts that were sure to follow such a blatant show of defiance.

When long seconds passed and all of her branches were still attached, she cracked open one eye and peaked out at him.

He arched an eyebrow in question. Coldly regaled this time." Are not you going to smite me or commodity?" she asked.

That bone- chilling smile widened until it nearly reached his eyes." Smite you?" He chortled." No, Heather. I am not going to smite you. I need you."

It was her turn to bow a delicate brow." Need me? Need me for what?"" I need you to help our people."

She lowered ." I’m not sure I’m the stylish person to come to about commodity like that. I’ve been gone for a long time. What could I conceivably do to help any of you? ”

The Napoleon continued to smile as he clasped his hands behind his reverse and began to pace, glancing at her every now and also out of the corner of his eye." Well, I did have some grand plans involving a lovely marriage to a veritably handsome, if albeit a bit violent, lad to help unite our lines, still, another option has just made itself known to me. A much more desirable option than making nice with those culprits."

The smile suddenly fell from his face and he turned his head toward the window.

" You may come in now, wolf," he called out in a singsong voice.

Heather's head snapped around. She could not see anything at first with the light from the kitchen reflecting on the glass. Not until he stood up to his full height and Brock's emotional form filled the entire frame.

His blue eyes set up hers, and his were narrowed with concern. Or was that dubitation ? He let himself in through the open aft door and paraded confidently into the room to stand coming to her with his shoulders back and his hands at his sides.

Her memory had not done justice as to just how good- looking and attractive he was. With his long hair and close- cut beard, he looked like a sexy lumberman, or a biker( more like Sons of Anarchy than Hell's Angels). She'd also forgotten how large he was. Or perhaps he just sounded high standing in this room with all of these average height males. He indeed stood a good five elevation high than the Napoleon, and was at least twice his circumference. As she watched, the muscles in his arms and casket twitched under his tee shirt, like he was having a hard time standing still.

" Drink to our little get together," the Napoleon said." What's your name, canine?"

Brock's narrowed eyes shifted from her to the Napoleon at the slighting bracket. He sounded to ignore the other three men in the room." Brock."

" Brock of course. A fine name for a strong joker." The Napoleon rambled in a circle around him, his eyes roving over every inch of Brock’s muscular body. ultimately, he came to a stop directly in front of him, but stayed just out of arms reach." Why are you then? What's this womanish to you?"

Heather felt her face honey as Brock blinked in surprise. She'd only known him for a many days. She was not anything to him.

" I am sorry?" Brock asked, glancing her way.

The Napoleon awaited until he'd Brock's full attention. Catching his eyes and holding them with his own, he said in a low voice," I suppose you heard me. Now kindly answer the question."

As if he could not help himself, Brock's eyes wandered back to her and travelled hungrily from the top of her head to the tips of her lurkers and back." I want to fuck her," he blazoned to the room." further than any other woman I have ever met."

Heather swallowed loudly, taken suddenly by his plainness indeed as an answering pang bloomed low in her belly. Her blood began to pound as her body responded to the hunger in his eyes. Her guts swelled under his aspect , the nipples straining towards him, and a swell of humidity wet her panties.

His eyes on her guts, he growled deep in his throat. She had to suck the inside of her impertinence to keep from groaning in response. also he blinked, and shook his head slightly, looking chagrined as he apologized to her." I am sorry, I do not know why I said that." His eyes swept over of their own accord one last time, and his nostrils burned before he tore his aspect down and turned his attention back to the Napoleon.

The Napoleon jounced, his expression thoughtful as he murmured," You said it because it's the honest verity, and the only kind of answer I allowed you to give. Now, the question is, how poorly do you want her?"

" Why do you need to know?" Brock asked. “ What's this about? ”

The Napoleon moved closer and the wolf lifted his face as he neared, scenting the air. His heavy brows came together." Who are you?" he asked." What are you?"

The room fell silent as the Napoleon searched Brock's features, and also turned to pace the bottom without answering him, one hand rubbing his chin courteously.

Frank spoke up from his post behind Heather." Your majesty, I do not suppose this is a good idea. We do not need him, or any of his kind. Let's dispose of him now and be on our way."

One of the others, a handsome, balding man in a suit, spoke up." I differ. We could use all of the help we can get. However, we may actually have a chance, If this joker can get other shifters on our side."

The Napoleon jounced as they spoke, appearing to consider what they were saying. He continued to pace for another many twinkles while they all awaited in silence. also he came to an abrupt halt and faced the group. His eyes were lit from within and flashing like a madcap as he studied them, colors swirling off and on in the dark irises like those narcotic gyrations that noway ended.

This could not be good.

With a maniacal smile he said," We'll let fate decide." Reaching into his fund, he pulled out a gold coin." Call it, wolf."

Brock looked around the room." What the fook is going on?!" he bellowed with rising anxiety, a slight Scottish brogue suddenly appearing in his shoptalk.

Heather cringed. It appeared his tolerance was at an end. She wanted to assure him, but it was kind of hard when she had no idea what was passing herself.

" It's relatively simple," the Napoleon told him." Heads, you win. Tails, you die.

Now, CALL IT." He threw the coin in the air.

" Heads!" Brock called, looking as if all of the world had gone frenetic.

Which it kind of had.

Heather held her breath as the Napoleon caught the coin and flipped it over onto the reverse of his contrary hand.

He sounded a bitsy bit surprised as he said," moment is your lucky day, wolf. You won."

A deep grumble filled the room before he’d indeed finished speaking. Brock's casket was heaving, his muscles were shuddering, and his chin was lowered as he caught the Napoleon in his huntsman's regard." You'll tell me who you are, and whit th' fook is going on. Right now.' Afore I lose my shit."

Ignoring him fully, the Napoleon smiled fondly at Heather." Are you ready, my dear?"

She turned frantic eyes to him," Ready for what?"

The Napoleon raised his hands in front of him, triumphs facing each other." And go!" He clapped his hands together doubly in quick race.

The room began to spin around her and the bottom shifted under her bases. Throwing her arms out to the sides, she frenetically reached out towards the only one in the room that sounded kindly stable." Brock!"

" Heather!" he roared.

His long hair whipped around his face as he dove towards her. But just as he was about to snare her hand, she felt herself get seized from before and she was yanked off the bottom and smelled backwards.

She screamed as she was girdled by darkness.

Tears wet Heather's cheeks as she huddled in the small cave she'd found, if you could call it that. It was more like a really large burrow, dug into a small hillside at the base of a giant tree. She swiped them away angrily. She was cold, she was sore, she was hungry, she was thirsty, and she needed a freaking toothbrush. She pulled out her phone for the hundredth time. Duck walking to the entrance of the cave, she held it up in the air, trying to find a signal. Nothing. And to make matters worse, if that was even possible, the battery was about to die.Frustrated beyond reason, she threw it up against the rocks at the back of her hideout, then immediately burst into tears at the depth of stupidity she'd just fallen to by smashing her only possible connection to the outside world. She sat there until she was all cried out, then with a loud sniff, she wiped off her face. It was getting lighter out, which meant morning was finally here, and unless she planned on dying in this cave, she

Taking her by the hand again, he studied the area around them. "I haven't eaten yet today either, so how about I go rustle us up some grub? We can eat before we head back.""Head back to where?" she asked as they started back to the cave. Her voice sounded husky, even to her own ears. She cleared her throat again."According to my instructions, I'm supposed to find you and go back to where I crash landed." He stopped suddenly and spun around to face her. He took her by the shoulders. "Jesus. I didn't even ask. Are you okay? If you arrived here anywhere near as hard as I did…" His face screwed up at the thought and he immediately started checking her for injuries. She tried to reassure him as he ran his hands down her arms and up her legs, feeling for breaks that had already healed, swatting at him when he got too close to the junction between her thighs. "I'm fine. Really." Now. "I just kind of floated here…" Like an anvil in the cartoons. He didn't need to know that the reason she'd

Brock trotted back to the cave with his kill in his mouth. He'd found a nice, fat, whatever-this-thing-was less than two miles away. It was plenty large enough to feed the both of them until dinner.Maybe they should just hang out here for the day. They had plenty of time to get back to "where he started". It had taken him less than two days in human form, and he'd marked his trail well. That gave them three days to get back. It should be easy, even if the going was a bit slower with Heather along.Besides, that woman had some explaining to do. From what he’d overheard outside of that house, she wasn't a normal, human female. And those men weren't just men. He’d gotten the same vibe from them that he’d gotten from the prince. That feeling of familiarity came over him again. He racked his brain, thinking of every supernatural creature he'd ever seen, hoping something would come to him, but he couldn't think of anything that was capable of what the "prince" had done to him and Heather.

Well, it was out there now. No sense in pretending he hadn’t said it.Besides, he’d meant every single word. "You heard me."Swallowing hard, she said, "Yes, but I think I may have misunderstood you."He gave her a roguish grin. "You didn't misunderstand, Heather. It broke my heart when you ran away. That's why I followed you."She cocked an eyebrow. He could see she didn't believe him in the slightest. "I think you just like to follow people. So you can practice your tracking skills or something. First, following Grace to my apartment, then me…"He didn't want to talk about Grace. "Why did you run away?" he asked. "Why come all the way from China to Seattle to see that your best friend made it here safely, just to leave again a few hours after we arrive?""I think you know the answer to that.""Because of what I am." It wasn't a question. She looked away. Tossing the bones and the stick into the fire, she wiped her hands off on her pants. Her silence was telling. That's what he'd bee

Her nipples tightened against his chest and moisture pooled between her thighs as he claimed her mouth again. His beard was soft against her chin and Heather moaned, her hands grasping his sides of their own accord. He was so warm… and hard. His hands dropped from the wall to grip her ass, squeezing hard. One leg wedged itself between hers until she was riding his muscular thigh, which she did with abandon. She couldn’t help it. She’d always been a lusty girl, and this male brought her to entire new levels of shamelessness. A low growl of approval rumbled through his chest, and he pulled her hips towards him. She dropped it back on the ground, intending to leave it there and keep on walking, but Brock nudged it closer to her again with his nose.Frowning at him, she said, "No. I'm not playing his stupid game."He shook his head up and down and pushed the coin right up to her foot. Heather sighed and picked it up again, sticking it in her coat pocket. "There. Now let's go."After a brief hesitation, he joined her. They'd been walking for about five minutes when Heather asked, "Why does it seem like we've been passing that same exact fallen tree over and over again?" She glanced over at Brock, and his eyes were narrowed on the same tree she was talking about. So, he'd noticed it too.He stopped and dug at the ground with his front paw. When he was finished, there was a distinct "H" dug into the dirt. Glancing over at her, he only started walking again after making sure she'd seen it.A minute later, Heather saw that same fallen tree, and watching the ground in front of her, she wasn't surpri

But here they were. The one specifically ahead progressed on them, and Heather saw that she had, in truth, been mixed up. They weren't very velociraptors. They were something much more awful. For one, velociraptors didn't have dark claws the length of a T-Rex's dribbling with a few sort of liquid. They moreover didn't yell like a banshee, or have hardened spines covering their wrinkly, dim skin from the neck down. And they didn't have six-inch long teeth, set in twofold columns in their wide, open mouths. But velociraptors would utilize those capable back legs to cover a great twenty feet of open ground with one jump to arrive straightforwardly in front of her werewolf.Brock raised up on his rear legs, coming confront to confront with the animal, and at that point dove forward, cutting out with his gigantic paws and going for its throat. But the thing thumped him aside with one brief arm like the monster werewolf was nothing but a teacup Chihuahua. Its look promptly bolted in on Heat
